Dharmendra’s death earlier today has brought together voices from across Indian cinema. Artists from the Hindi film industry, television, and the South have expressed their grief, remembering the veteran actor as someone whose presence shaped generations.

Rajinikanth shared a brief but deeply personal message on X. “Farewell, my friend. I will always remember your golden heart and the moments we shared. Rest in peace, Dharam ji. My deepest condolences to his family,” he wrote. His words captured the bond the two shared and the respect Dharmendra commanded across regions.

Mahesh Babu also called the loss irreplaceable. He wrote, “Cinema has lost one of its strongest voices today… Rest in peace Dharmendra Deol Sir. The honesty and weight you brought to every character across generations and eras will continue to inspire us always… Praying for strength and courage to his family during this difficult time.”

AR Rahman described Dharmendra as a “timeless icon,” noting his grace, humility, and spirit that carried through decades of work. He added that the actor’s kindness and craft would continue to live in the memories of audiences worldwide.

The makers of Peddi, led by Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, postponed a planned announcement. They said the decision was taken as a mark of respect, calling Dharmendra someone whose era could never be replaced.

Dharmendra’s career spanned more than sixty years. He began with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere in 1960 and gained wider attention with Haqeeqat in 1965. Through the years, he moved across genres with ease, holding a steady place in the hearts of his viewers.
