And At Last I See The Light
He saw draped in twinkling fairy lights from a distance. Standing near the pool, the crystal clear water reflected on her skin, making her all the more beautiful. She struggled to set herself free from the grasp of the lights and looked nothing short of cute with that expression of annoyance on her face. He almost laughed at her efforts which went in vain. He slowly took steps towards her, closing in the distance between them. She was a breath away from him, just a breath away. He wished he could stop the time as she looked up at him with those hazel eyes. He felt himself drowning in them as his heart beat frantically.
She saw him approach her and automatically felt her dhak-dhak problem return. She settled on the fact that this was not acidity and was in fact her heart. It was him doing all this to her and she closed her eyes momentarily, trying to pacify her racing heart. He was a few centimeters away from her. She contemplated on whether to look up at his face or not. Tilting her head upwards, she gazed into his chocolate brown eyes and straight away regretted her decision to look up. Or did she? She saw something different in his eyes this time. In fact, she had noticed it since the moment she had set her eyes on him this morning. Something is different, she thought. Good different, she mentally added.
Jab aap usko dekho, to uske chehre se nazar hi na hate. He kept staring at her angel like face as he remembered his Di's words. She was right, he couldn't take his eyes off her. Agar wo udaas ho, to kuch bhi achcha na lage. He remembered how annoyed he had felt when he couldn't comfort her. He'd paid the hospital bills just to help her. He had put those silver coins in the packet just to make her happy, just to see that smile return on her face. Usse door jaane ka khayal bhi aapko pareshan kare. He didn't even want to think about that thought. He remembered every single one of those words said by his Di, right here when they had been sitting by the pool. He had brushed it off then by saying he didn't want to waste his time on those things. And now all he wanted to do was indulge in this world where there was nothing else, no one else but her and him. Just Khushi. Just Arnav.
Socha tha jab pyaar hoga, to asmaan mein sitaare aur bhi chamakne lagenge. She looked around herself and all she could see was the twinkling light of the stars around her. Har taraf sirf wahi nazar aayenge. And all her eyes could see and ever wanted to see was him, Arnav, her lard governor. Aur jab wo saamne aayenge, to phool barasne lagagenge, asmaan mein sitaare chamkne lagenge. She took in the sweet scent of the flowers around her and felt the stars around her. It was heaven on earth, she realised. Chaaro taraf sirf hasi aur khushi ka mahol hoga. She heard Anjali and Maami laugh their hearts out at a distance. It was the season of festivals and even though her babuji was ill, she could feel herself being enveloped by happiness. Nearly 24 hours earlier, she hadn't felt all these feelings for a person who had been a good friend to her. 24 hours later, now, she felt everything she had imagined of feeling when she would fall in love. And who did she feel it all for? A person who had given her nothing but pain, until recently, when he had made every attempt to bring a smile on her face. Yes, she knew he had put the coins in the packets. Om Prakash Ji had told her of it. He hadn't yelled at her and she didn't have to face his wrath when she broke his favourite vase. He had asked her about her babuji's health and she had been all the more surprised on hearing his voice laced with worry. She kept staring in the pool of chocolates, looking to identify what she saw in them. What was it? she wondered.
Lost in their own world, they had completely forgotten where they were. He closed in the gap between them with one more step and stood their, adoring her face. Not knowing what to do, she kept staring at his face. And in those few minutes, realisation hit them both – they were in love.
And At Last I See The Light - Tangled
Now I'm here, blinking in the starlight
Now I'm here, suddenly I see
Standing here, it's all so clear
I'm where I am meant to be
And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you
Now she's here shining in the starlight
Now she's here, suddenly I know
If she's here it's crystal clear
I'm where I'm meant to go
And at last I see the light
And it's like the fog has lifted
And at last I see the light
And it's like the sky is new
And it's warm and real and bright
And the world has somehow shifted
All at once everything looks different
Now that I see you
