But I cannot discredit him for his hit production of music regardless how he is producing---techi or what ever he is selling it. So don't be so bias in critizing him because it makes one sound quite pathetic. I find it quite silly when people present their opinion from one extreme to other. be balanced that shows once intelligence in giving productive critique.

Preetie...whatever little I know of music from my 10 years of music training..western as well as Indian classical I can distinguish between a musican and a con artist...And I must say you cann't call stealing music creativity...

Incase you like his hit numbers then I think the credit goes to the original composers and not to him..in my eyes its called pure stealing and its a shame how these music directors and their fans have no value for intellectual property and rights...

HR is a true example of the phrase that har insaan ka ek din aata hai jab uska kismat ka tala khulta hai. HR ke din aache hai. Pehele to zee tv ke ek serial"Andaz" ka unhone ne music diya tha. kya bataye us samay unka composition bahut hi besura tha. Phir din phire unke Salman khan jaise logo se dosti hui aur phir kuch films mein kaam mil gaya, aur aisi hi aaghe aa gaye.En dino to woh ek topi wale baba ho gaye hai.Khud ko aacha music director to maan hi rahe hai, saath mein singer banne ki tamana bhi puri kar rahe hai. Dekhte hai bina music ke formal training wale HR kab tak es industry mein tikate hai.

in that case pretty much most of the production that comes out of bollywood whether music or movies are copied from somewhere. including famous shows like deal or no deal, indian idol, who wants to be a millionaire...etc etc list can keep on going. it is pretty laughable when others are considered original.

LMAO!!! Hahahaha.....😆. I hope you're kidding. Anu Malik, a true composer? 😆😆😆.

On Preeti's note...no preeti, just churning out hit music doesn't matter. Even I can do that, with a fair knowledge of music, which I trust, I posses...and a mixing station. Music is far too complex. There are a lot of things involved in producing good music..Feelings, sentiments, devotion, knowledge, wisdom. You must rever music to produce good music. Hit music isn't always good. Look at Britney Spears, look at Maddona.

And frankly, I agree with Foobar. HR was a techie. And he's himself admitted that he uses technology. Gets the voice recorded, then the instrumentals. Uses a synth for the beats, mixes them on the computer. I pose an open challenge to HR...not only HR, any new composer of today...Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar, S-E-L, HR....try and make music the original way. Get the vocals to go along with the Orchestra. Use a live orchestra of 100 people, then try to record.

Great topic and great responses. Thanks Sinhaji for opening this
discussion which has been on my mind as well. I think that HR has some
formal training, probably quite a bit of talent and but most importantly
good luck and skills in making the right friends.

His father was a flop/wanna be MD and who knows why? Maybe he was
talented but not well conected. If you read interviews with HR, you will
often see a running theme of winning and business. He is the exact
opposite of Jatin.

I would like to think that true talent and timeless melodies would be
proportional to commercial success but that is not always the case. But
IMHO, very few of HR's melodies will be remembered as classics a
generation or two later as the melodies of SDB, RDB, Naushad, OPN,
Hemanta, and others (PLEASE FILL IN)

I really enjoyed the knowlegable comments by many in this forum,
particularly those who seem to know classical music.

if you want to talk about that this copying business can go in different tangents: diff cars in the market in comparison to 50 yrs ago. obviously there was someone was first to invent, pharmacuetical drugs copied by generic companies, first person who published first newpaper etc etc etc...everyone is inspiried or in your books copied from some where.
