As for Mozart and Beethoven please ntoe that both did have immense
natural talent and extensive training (please refer to wikipedia.org for
more info). It is well known to most music students that Mozart received
intensive musical training from his father, including instruction in both
clavier and violin. Also Beethoven's first music teacher was his fatherand
later was given instruction and employment by Christian Gottlob Neefe.

As a fan and student of their music, I find it appaling that someone would
compare HR to them in any way. They should only be compared to other
classical musicians.

That brings me to another point. I think that while most of us enjoy
popular and modern music, it can never take away the importance of
classical music and training and appreciation. That's why classical music
is timeless and its appeal is eternal.

Oh my my...this topic is becoming very heavy....copy, inspiration, cover versions...
But some good names are also being dragged along like mozart and beethoven, taking their names with HR is mudslinging and blasphemy, causes a heartache.
Preetie, I sincerely think you are getting confused (Big Time) between inspiration and copy. there was an intelligent discussion about the same, refer to that.
Seedhi sachhi baat yeh hain ki sangeet mein saat sur hote hain....you make your own combination that always sounds unique, thats the beauty of it , and that is why its timeless. When yyou use the same combination created by someone else......you copy it.

BTW Honda, toyota, audi do not invent cars everytime they make one

I think you are the confused big time here. If you look hard enough in every direction original idea whether it is music or movies or anything else is utilized by various people. So what is the big deal.

One point I would want to make here is that if a song has been copied note-for-note from an original (or close enough), very few MDs here have the courtsey to credit the original composer. Maybe, its the fear of paying out royalties?

Also, Preetie, to answer your earlier Q, II and KBC did get syndication from the original shows. Even S-E-L paid some kind of royalty for using Pretty Woman in KHNH. This kind of "copying", I believe is ok if the original gets credited and gets his/her dues...

riddler- I know that. What i find in here is that people start putting people down for their own pleasure. some hate paresh, some hate vinit, nihira, etc etc. list just goes on. There is no balance critique. One should have open mind in giving out their opinion. I think himesh is acting like a goof on TV in supporting vinit however I don't discredit him for his work. Some poeple here are claiming to be music experts. if they are then what are they doing on line, they should be making name for themselves with their talent.

I know what you're trying to say, Preetie but dont think its fair.
As an example, my sister learnt classical vocal for 10+ yrs and has a visharad from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi (and I used to sit in during her classes). If she criticises, say HR, for his "music", would you say that she has no right to do so just because she's not a MD herself?
There are a lot more students of music than there are MDs and everyone has a right to express his/her opinions here...
