I know I don't have a lot of Premeer scenes, and let me explain why: I decided to use Harman and Ash to bring the conflict, and when I realised that I could've used Premeer instead, I had already written out Part Four and well, Harman and Ash were begging me to not erase them. I'm really really sorry to all Premeer fans out there, but I promise you that before the story ends, they WILL end up together! 😃

Don't forget I'm also updating Part One of The Handmaiden's Tale today! 😃

Part Eleven

Preet stared up at the ceiling. After tossing and turning for an hour and a half, he was tired. Of tossing and turning, that is. So he simply stared up at his ceiling, thinking.

It was odd that Harman was asking him to court Ashlesha for him. Harman was perfectly fine with girls. He was the one who had taught Preet the art of flirting. Heck, he had taught Prem the art of flirting. (Of course, PB was still awkward around members of the opposite sex; Harman's lessons hadn't helped very much.) And he had given Preet a new watch when the pupil had surpassed the master. (That was a few years ago; Preet liked Harman's new Swiss watch; it was new and shiny.)

So why in the world was Harman, self-proclaimed tutor of Ludhiana's Casanova, asking him to ask Ash out?

Preet decided not to dwell on the why. He turned and lay on his side, staring at the wall. In came the question of the how: how in the world was he supposed to get Ash to say yes to going out with Harman when she hated him?

The doorbell rang twice.

"Meher, Preet aa gaya!" Kulraaj's voice rose through the hustle and bustle of a Wednesday morning at the Maan residence, penetrating Meher's closed room door.

Meher felt the heat rise in her face. After two days she still had not gotten accustomed to the fact that Preet had decided to drive her to the art gallery.

Leaving her room in a blue and green suit, she hurried to the front door, pulling it open to see Preet poking the leaves of a curry plant they grew. He jumped up as she opened the door, startled. She hid a smile.

"Hi, Meher. Are you ready?" he asked.

She nodded. "Bas ek minute de do." She turned and started back for the kitchen, then paused and turned back. "Aapne naashta kar liya?"

He smiled. "Yeah."

She returned the smile. "Main bas abhi aati hoon."

As he watched her leave, Preet found himself grinning like an idiot. Again. He had been doing that often, especially when he thought about Meher.

Ash bounced down the stairs, ignoring Preet and heading straight for the kitchen.

Preet's smile faded as he saw Ash, a reminder of what he had promised Harman that he would do. Something else struck him: it wasn't just Harman she hated; the chick hated all the Juneja boys.

Preet sighed. Courting Ash was going to be harder than he realized.

Meher came into his view again, smiling and munching on a Kulraaj-baked banana muffin. "Chalein?"

Preet nodded and stepped aside, letting Meher pass first.

There was silence in the car today, broken by the songs coming out of the stereo in the car. Meher glanced at Preet, wondering if he was okay.

He drummed his fingers against the steering wheel, lost in his own thoughts.

"Kahaan khoye ho, janaab?" she teased.

"Hmm?" Preet glanced at her, offering her an apologetic smile. "Sorry, Meher. Bas, I was just thinking."

"You think?" Meher couldn't resist, especially since she had the advantage of not being behind the steering wheel.

Preet released a hand from the steering wheel to smack her arm playfully. Meher laughed, and Preet grinned. He couldn't remember hearing anything that sounded as beautiful as that.

"Meher, ek baat poochni thi tumse, Ash ke favourite flowers kaunse hain?"

Meher raised an eyebrow. "Ash? Um, shayad red roses? Kyun?"

Preet shook his head. "Bas, yunhi." And he lapsed back into silence.

Meher looked at him quizzically. She shook her head slightly, trying to shake off the insecurities that her heart had started to beat out in an erratic staccato rhythm. Preet had asked her out, hadn't he? Not Ash, not Heer, but her. So she knew he liked her.

Preet pulled up to the art gallery. Meher smiled at Preet. "Bye."

"Bye, Meher." He leaned forward and planted a kiss on her cheek, making her blush hard.

She quickly exited the car and hurried into the art gallery, glancing back at Preet and waving at him, unable to hide the giddy smile that seemed to have a permanent place on her face whenever Preet was around.

After what had just happened, she was sure he loved her.

😳 I hope the little Meet kiss-on-the-cheek satisfied you! I know it did me! Oooh and look out for a special cameo from one of our...favourite!...characters in Part Sixteen! I promise you guys will laugh. A lot. And then give me cookies. But in the meantime, hope you guys liked Part Eleven, and don't forget that Part Twelve will be up on THURSDAY!

P.S. Would you guys like me to update KK three times a week, i.e. Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays? Because now that I've got the entire story typed out and waiting to be psoted, the story's is being really really annoying and not giving me a moment's peace on non-update days...

Aww they went to the art gallery? Glad to know they had fun =) Poor Meher was feeling insecure but Preet cleared it up by giving her a good bye kiss. So sweet =) Loved the update Bhav! Can't wait to read the next one😃
