RANJANI (RAMYA KRISHNAN)
Ranjani (played by Ramya Krishnan) is an ordinary middle - class women competing with a business tycoon Chandramathi (played by Sudha Chandran), and fighting male chauvinism. A well manered and educated lady, sweet soft spoken and caring. Works with the customs and very much proud of her work. She is well respected there by some team members and her boss has high respect for her. Yet, there are few other team members who does not like Ranjani much and tries to find as much fault as they cud. Until a disaster takes place (caused by the villy) and Ranjani is suspended from work. Another bomb is thrown to her on the same day, the family she is living with right now, is not her real family. Ranjani learns the truth of her birth from her own family lawyer Sathia and swears for revenge. Decides to work with the enemy and fight for her rights.
NEELAMBARI (RAMYA KRISHNAN)
Then name Neelambari reminds us the villy role she played in Padaiyappa few years back. In this Serial, she plays the total opposite character as in Padaiyappa. A sweet young girl who loves her father and has a close friend name Chandramathi. Without knowing the real character of her friend, Neelambari loves her and trust her a lot. Neela got married to a fraud, whom later re-form to a good man. By the time Neelambari realise the true nature of her close friend, everything was gone. Her father, husband, her life ...... And her life???? What is very much mystery in this serial is the fact if Neelambari is death ... or alive??????
FATHER ( Dharma rajan )
Cheats people but not for his own living. For some orphan kids. Falls in love with Neelambari the very first time meeting her. Due to some false mistake identity, he will be approached by Neela's family as proposal for her. Knowing Neela is rich, he decides to marry her to use her wealth to help the needed's. But Chandramathi, knowing his a fraud, uses this to blackmail him. She wants him to finish off Neela when they go for honeymoon. But he falls in love deeply with Neela and has fully reform. Just before he could justify himself to Neela, he loses his life.
Sathia (family lawyer for neelambari)
His a lawyer and family adviser for Neela's father. And his very close and attached with Neela as because of her, he got his eduction. Loves and cares for her very much. Unfortunately, he was not able to save her from Chandramathi doings, and ends up loosing her. He quite his law and went back to village. Till the day he saw Ranjani picture in the newspaper, he comes back as he decides its time to take revenge of Chandramathi now for his loved Neelambari.

FATHER (Rajagopal )
😡 A useless man who is good for nothing. Does not go to work but sits at home, nicely eats and demands that and this. Steals money from his own kids 😡 Abuse his wife by making her do that and this. A selfish man who even does not think about his kids happiness. He once tried to stop Ranjani marriage by creating a photo that she has already married. How Cheap of him 😡😡 The reason he does this because he knows she is earning and if she leaves, no one to support. And when Ranjani lost her job, he insulted her and hurt her as much as he could.
MOTHER (Saradha)
A very quite lady, who loves her family alot. Timid lady with great love and care. She adores Ranjani a lot and the only peace she gets is from her kids. Her husband thought torture her the max, she still respect him and the sole reason is because he had tied thali for her. Supports her husband when the kids argue with him, even thought she knows his wrong.
Brother (Karthik)
A very nice young chap, educated and looking for job. He has great respect for his sister Ranjani and loves her and his younger sister Meena alot. Karthik is trying to look for job really hard as he wants to get Ranjani out from the family burden. He wants her to get married and live happily with her husband. He hates his father for being very lazy at home. He finally gets a job and is happy but little he knows the job he got was because of Aishwarya, daughter of the villy Chandramathi. Karthik knows she loves him but he hates her and despites her a lot.
Sister (Meena)
A very young sweet girl. She is Ranjani's chella sister. Still studying in Uni and becames best friend with Aish. Loves her sister Ranjani a lot and looks high upon her. Poor Meena, once she wud be kidnapped by Chandramathi sister as to stop Ranjani from going to court. Meena went throught few days night mare before she finally manage to escape. Thought she escape, she has seen Chandra brother's face.
Ranjani best friend cum sister (Sanggetha- Kutty padmini)
Sanggetha (played by Kutty Padmini) is Ranjani's best friend and more like a elder sister. Sanggetha has lost her husband but yet still wears kumkumam pottu. This annoyes her MIL a lot as MIL thinks Sanggetha is not bothered about her son's death. What angers MIL more is, Sanggetha got pregnant a year after her husband died. This is a mystery to us till now as we don't know who is the father for the second son. Elder daughter Ramya, gives her so much of problem and is supported by her grandmother. Sanggetha has a deep secret yet to be reveal but she play a role which is good. She is close to Ranjani and has been her adviser for some time too.
Chandramathi (Played by Sudha Chandran)
Friend of Neelambari since small. Envy of Neelambari's weath and her nature. Faith ends up Chandra & her mother staying with Neela. Poison by her mother, Chandra started falling love with the rich lifestyle and decided to make them her's. Both mother daugther plans and kills Neela's dad, and her husband. Chandra now is more evil. After few years, she starts having Neela coming back and haunting her dreams. She meets Ranjani, makes her life miserable and offer her a job not knowing that Ranjani knows the truth. Until now, Chandra's husband details remain a mystery. Its now time for her to reveal the details of him, as requested by her daughter Aiswarya, will she? Is Aiswarya really her daughter? What is going to happen to Chandra....?
Aiswarya (Chandra's daughter)
At the beggining she was potrayed as rich spoiled girl. But somewho that is only out of the house. In house, she is much afraid of Chandra though her mother had provided lot of things for her in her life. But yet Aiswarya claims something is missing. She is curious of her birth and demands to know her father which Chandra is keeping it as secret. Chandra has big plans laid for her to get married to a very rich man, unforturnately, Aiswarya is in love with Karthik, , Ranjani's brother. Though he keeps rejecting her, she never gives up. Will she be able to win his love? Will she know the truth of her birth?
Rajalakshimi (Chandra's mother)
Never liked her live as poor, used her daughter to gain the wealty life by poisoning her mind agains Neela. Has a dream, wanting her granddaughter to marry her son Selvam, which clearly opposed by Chandra.
Selvam (Chandra's Brother)
A useless guy who has been living with his sister's wealth. Does not work and not much contribution he has done. Now he wants to start his own business as his feeling restless but not allowed by Chandra and she refuse to support him financially for his new venture. Selvam knows only one way left, by marrying Aiswarya, which is strongly opposed by Chandra. Will he ever be able to start his own business? or marry Aishwarya?
Kannan (Rajalakshimi's brother)
He has done all evil things for Chandra and still does. Does not have his own family but his sister is all he have.
Gopi (Shashi Shiva)
Best friend to Karthi, stayed with him for 3 years while studying. Falls in love with Ranjani but had the courage to express it. Finally he leaves for America without saying his love at all. Comes back after 2 years, and now trying to express his love but because he has just lost his job, he feels uncertain. Now is starting up a business and plans to propose Ranjani once business goes well.
Gopi's Brother ( )
Loves and care for his brother much that is willing to do anything for him. Though his facing many personal problems, he still tries to support Gopi in any finacial ways.
Gopi's SIL ( Mageswari )
Loving person and treats Gopi more like a son. Though she loves Gopi a lot, she cannot stand seeing her husband getting into more debts for Gopi's sake. She is very much worried about the loan's he had taken for Gopi's education and to send him to America to work. Tries to shake some sense into her husband but does not work.
Rajadevan
Seems like this man has some unsettle business with Chandra in the past. Meets her after many years regards on some land matter. He vows to his wife that he will destroy Chandra as she has destroy his generation (but not explained yet) Tries his best to defect her in her business. Rajadevan is also involves in illegal shipping.
Rajadevan's 2 sons
Eldest son is Sashi, knows father's dirty works. Seem to be business minded kind of person who only looks at money.l Second son Vinod, seem to be a decend guy though at times he can be a real pain. But highly educated and planning to travel around the world. Not much interest on his dad's business and happily hands it to brother.
Supni (Neelambari's servant)
A very nice old man who knows all Chandra's criminal activities and goes against her in every way he can. He is also FIL for Sanggetha's Sister in law. Happy to meet Sathia and even more happy to know Neelambari's daughter Ranjani is still alive. He is willing to help Ranjani in every way he can to get over on Chandra.
Loganathan & His son Kumar
Loganathan is the man who had taken tender over a land, very expensive land from Neelambari. He is very angry over Chandra for using Ranjani to act as Neelambari and get the power of attonery and Chandra manage to get the land back as soon the tender year finish. Loga and his son is another set of enemy for Chandra. Loga is also a bad guy, loan shark. Borrows money to the poor and cheats them later on.
Ranjani's office mates
Mano : - Works in the same department as Ranjani but hates her very much for her hardworking. Tries his best to annoye her in every way he can and was very happy when Ranjani was suspended from her job.
Nithiya :- Hates Ranjani as when due to some arguments in the road way before Nithi join work at same place Ranjani works. But after Ranjani saved her life during an operation to catrch some bad guys, she changes her opinion on Ranjani and becames her friend.
Pandiyan :- A funny chap who does not know his job much but very loyal to it. Used to be Jallara for Chandra but after given advise by Ranjani, he changes.
Neelambari - Vasundra, Madhu, Grandmother & Ramachandran
Neelambari is still alive and has been living in London. Returns back to Chennai upon knowing her mother's health. Neelambari is known as Vasundra here. Has a blind daughter name Madhu. Her PA, Ramachandran been taking care of Vasundra's mother. Seems like both mother and Madhu are not real relation to Vasundra. She has her own secret and only mother and Ramachandra knows.
