yeah i'm just in the third book now and have crossed the part where she is like 'I will have Stefan and you all help me no matter the consequence?' thank god! they have not included this part in the show... though i havent reached elena's evolution of character as yet..

Uhm, so how many books are there in all? I saw VD without reading the books, but the wait is too long, so I thought I'd read the books. yeah, anyone help?

so far Rach (hi btw, I've missed you!) there are six books. four from the first series (titled The Vampire Diaries) and two out of three of the next series (The Return: Nightfall and Shadow Souls) are out. Midnight, the third in The Return comes out next year. (:

@ Uffraks You will love the books.Although the books are kind of different,there are 3 original books, and 4 is return series.the last book of return series Midnight will release in March.And there would be three books but I guess we will get most of our answer in Midnight.

@ Dhruvi, Rohini I love Book Elena, she is awesomeness, Fiesty, brave, independent, funny and can give her life for her friend, yeah she is sometimes selfish, manipulative but everyone has flaws in books, I'm not a fan of show Elena because her character confused me, sometimes she goes to save her friends , sometimes she just doesn't care what is going into her friends lives , plus writers sometimes tried to make her a perfect, boring girl which is weird. I mean two 150 years old vampires have fallen in love with Elena, so..you know it makes perfect sense with Book Elena's character, kind of confusing with show Elena where everyone falls in love with her(Matt, Stefan, Damon).l'm a Book Elena fan.And she has actually helped Stefan, Damon so many times in books.She is more like Blair from GG or Quinn from Glee in books, I know in SS it's weird , she whined a lot and after she recognizes that she loves Stefan and she has feelings for Damon also, she started to act weird but I still love Elena in books.Lets see how things will play with show Elena when she will realize that she has feelings for both brothers.In books, LJ. will redeem Elena somehow I hope.

u are kinda right tithi...the book elena is more justified than the show elena...so it kinda makes sense!

Oh and they're way different, not that I'm surprised. How many shows are anyway true to the books? Do you get them as e-books or something?

yep u do find ebooks rachu..google them! I read the first two installments as ebooks only...
