@Dplee: Well, I am working on a project I hope might, at some point, be my 'entry' to the literary world, so might not be bad to get more opinions on it, especially professional ones 😆 Do editors earn good money? 😛

As for me - the system in Germany is a bit different (as we don't have highschools or colleges) but I have finished school for a while, now. Tried to get into medical studies [I always thought it would be nice though, becoming a doc is not 'that' important to me, tbh - I still tried a lot 'cause it was pretty important to my dad] - but, you know, if you have around 30,000 people applying yearly and only 3,000 seats, it's almost impossible to get a seat immediately, and I am not willing to wait years for it 😆 Now, I am not sure. Psychology, am thinking, but that's pretty difficult to get in, in Germany, as well *sigh*

I just want to do something where I can help people. And after completing a degree, I want to go to Iran for religious studies (Hawzah) - well, they teach a lot, in one; like Arabic and Farsi, at first, then many subjects- history, hadiths sciences, psychology, philosophy, Quran and exegesis etc... I want to widen my knowledge (especially in regards to history) and to spread said knowledge in my own way since I see a lot that even Muslims don't know much about their religion and have developed a very distorted picture of it.

So, that is my life's plan. Let's see if I'll be able to do any of it 😆 Though, right now, I feel very useless, doing nothing... why does life have to be so complicated? 😒

If you are interested in Laxman's POV, a must read is SITA'S SISTER by Kavita Kane. It is from POV of Urmilla, Laxman's wife.

@Dplee and Matsh
Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded a copy as well. Will read until the others show up.

I watched it and hated it!!!! For me it is a story of how a father destroys the life his autistic child and how a brother aides and abets his father to meet his own goals. 😡😡😡😡😡
The brother was not capable of making a choice. He followed the programming he was given. .
No saying this to offend anyone but this (children with mental and intellectual disabilities) is a very personal and touchy subject for me.

Hm. Interesting. I haven't thought of it along these lines, tbh. Yes, there were instances where I wanted to smack the brother over his too big head, especially when they had this little argument close to the end. But then again, I did get the vibes that the bond between the brothers is genuine and they do love each other sincerely.

Though, I do see where the problems arise. What the father did... I found it strange. How he literally hid one of his sons from the world 🤢

And don't worry, you're not offending anyone! 😳 It seems obvious that if this is a personal subject for you, you will view it more critically than any of us!

On another note: Do you know PKHJD on Sony TV?

Yes. I watched it regularly for a couple of weeks and then gave up. I could not warm up the female lead and even less to the storyline.

Hm, really? I recently started to watch it and do like Preet well enough, though I'm loving Iqbal Khan as Ishaan/Rizwan a lot more 😳 But (I haven't watched all the episodes, yet), I'm not sure what exactly to think of the show - whether to like it or keep a critical stand on it.

There are some issues I am having: take Bilal, for example. I found him such a sweet guy! Wish the CVs would have maintained that character for him, especially since their "main" villains already seem to be Muslims. Why add more fuel to it? *sigh*

Then, the way they handled the inter-faith marriage issue - done so loosely. And it just looked silly, all in all, how it was done :-/ I'm not sure how exactly it is with Hinduism and marrying someone from another religion, but in Islam marrying anyone from outside Ahle Kitab (e.g. Christians, Jews etc... and even there, it's not easy) is practically [almost] impossible unless the family is not that religious. So, Bilal's family agreeing just like that, happy and all, surprised me to no end!

And the whole, "padosi mulk" non-sense 😆 Just take it by name, everyone knows which country is meant. It's kinda funny how they avoid naming it as if it's Voldemort itself Now, I am just waiting to see if every single Pakistani will be portrayed as some kind of evil personified in the serial or not...

Furthermore, I am not a patriot - patriotism is an alien sentiment to me (something I will never understand) hence, why I can't connect with Preet or the family feeling so strongly for their country... and yes, the inter-faith marriage and how it's being handled bugs me to no end 😆 No chappals, please, but personally I'm not an advocate of these marriages - but everyone to their own, of course. Though, I hope CVs do realize that Islamically seen, Ishaan and Preet are not married. So, showing them getting closer to each other... looks a bit strange, even if sweet 😛

What has me hooked, till now, even with all these issues at hand, is Ishaan/Rizwan. I love is characterization - it's simply brilliant! And the fact that they are showing that both, Preet and Rizwan have lost everything due to the "other" country (though, I won't be surpised, if in Rizwan's case it turns out it were not Indians who killed his parents 🤪)

I hope I don't sound bigoted or anything 😒

Inter-faith marriages works as long as either both parties do not care about the religion or one agrees to follow the other's. I know of a couple of marriages that went south when one party found "god" after getting married. "Bombay" movie style marriages may exist but I haven't seen any.
As for the show - Interfaith marriage in the show is a joke. There were no discussion on how they were going to deal with religious or cultural differences. They treated it like a marriage between rich and poor.
The ML is great. His acting and character in the show are top-notch. Preet looks to more like she is screeching through the role. A caveat - I have never particularly liked this actress and she plays a similar Punjabi character in all her shows.
CVs of the show have been pretty careful in the beginning of the show (as much as I watched) to say/show terrorists as profit minded people who take advantage of youth on both sides of the border. They have no country and religion.

I agree completely! It can only work successfully if either, one partner is not religious or decides to change their religion. I mean, I know many cases in which inter-sectarian marriages fail badly - and this is a long shot, compared to that. So, was badly disappointed with how they handled it in the show. Bilal's parents were more concerned about their financial situation than their bahu's beliefs and culture 😕 And as for Trisha's family; Preet's simplistic dialogues about 'love' being higher than anything and them being able to go to school together so marriage shouldn't be a problem etc... - they were really just simplistic views, the more I was flabbergasted that they worked 🤪

Well, I have not seen the actress before, so mightbe a reason wwhy I think she's okay 😆 As for Iqbal, yup, he's outstanding!

Might be that CVs were careful in the beginning and I agree what they said about terrorists - but the execution, the actions do seem to be heavily biased, till yet. Maybe they'll bring in a twist and change my mind, hm.

Anyway, which book have you started reading?

Amina!! Editors, specially academic editors like me make really good money. I don't know about the editors who are solely into fiction but as more people coming into research field, editors are doing great. Besides editing, I do write weekly feature stories , update my blog regularly, review books, write sponsored reviews and content for websites.

You seem to have lot in your mind. I don't know properly about Germany, but the scenario is same everywhere. Too much candidates and fewer seats.

Do let me read your "project". I love to read and new projects always fascinate me. All the best for everything sweety!!
