I think I have watched it 100 times. When it was first telecasted in TV, I was a 4-5 years old, still I remember people gathering at our home to watch it. It sent the whole nation into a frenzy, roads used to be deserted during that particular time, even load shedding was not allowed. People used to bath and came to watch it. We had one of the color TV in that whole area so we used to get lots of people.

I personally love and prefer Mahabharata than Ramayana. Lord Krishna is my all time favourite. He is more human and he did make mistakes sometimes, He is like the boy next door, the adorable kid, platonic lover, caring husband, loyal friend, strategist. Sorry, but I can go along way about Krishna.. Are you watching it now?

Hey Dplee dear,

U voiced my words exactly! Even I remember watching it years ago... When TV itself was a rarity! My grandma used to actually do pranams to Lord Krishna whenever he used to come on screen!!!

Mahabharath was wonderful and I can watch it again and again and again! Lord Krishna is my all time fav too! And I love Nitish Bharadwaj who portrayed Lord Krishna - he was wonderful! And that naughty awesome smile that he had, is still imprinted in my mind! Loved him! Lord Krishna is much more humane than Lord Rama and hence I love him to the core!

Wonderful Mahabharath! Even today I remember the bgm...

Agree wid both of u maty & dplee!! I always prefer mahabharat on ramayana!! Arjun's focus on his goals & kanha ji helping is superb...nowadays that mahabharat is telecasted on epic channel...I watch it whenever I get tym...the part which I hate in mahabharat was draupadi tragedy...it was really horrible!!
Love 2 watch the interaction b/w pandavas!!

@Priya - On epic channel is it?! Is it the same BR Chopra's Mahabharath that is telecast? Bcoz recently about an year ago, there was another Mahabharath that was on air on SP - I had watched a couple of episodes thats all... But I preferred BR Chopra's even though my sister claimed that the new on on SP was also good.. She used to watch it.
Of course Draupadi's vastrapaharan was awful! And that was the main reason for the Mahabharath war right. What a disgrace with diggajas like Bheeshma pitamah Vidura et all occupying the court - they still could not stop it!

Yes, I am watching it from time to time 😆 Am still somewhere between the episodes where the Pandavas are kids - the child playing Arjun is soo cute! 😳 And Bheem, too! I still chuckle when I remember their first day at gurukul where Duryodhan made a nasty comment and he was all like, "Can I trash him?" 🤣

I did read up on the epic, here and there, though, to get a better picture of it all. That's interesting, Dplee! Because I have seen people say that Rama was more human than Krishna because Krishna was literally "God on Earth" (something to do with chakra? 16/16 and 14/16? Dunno) - but I got the same impression from Krishna, a good strategist who wouldn't mind using hook and crook (sometimes) to do the "right". I did enjoy his leela - he was a cute kid, always smiling, and Balram is interesting, as well!

Can I say somethin without getting bashed? 😆 I don't like Draupadi much and neither Kunti, lol. They don't click with me and both seemed a tad selfish. Though, Gandhari looks good, so far. And, well, my favs would be: Bheeshm, Karna (yes, 's true, lol), Bheem and Arjun.

I am on a break from watching it, though. There's a lot of reading I need to catch up on- in 10 days, it's the birth anniversary of the Prophet (s) (and our 6th Imam (a)), and I need to do something for that (in regards to writing) and am trying to find the right inspiration by going through briographies and hadiths. And I really need to re-start my Arabic learning, which I wanted to start from today, again 😳

So, not much time to watch 😆

I too didnot like Kunti but for me Draupadi is an intersting character.
So, again into learning Arabic? All the best with that? And when are these birth anniversary? Do provide me something to read about them ... you know I have Obsessive reading disorder and like to read new things. Just now I was remembering you and saw your post. I was in our retail section of my office and saw a huge book on Egypt, its myths, religion and customs.. I am right now on cloud nine and going to devour this book during my free time in office
