Part 5
Two days later, Twinkle is standing outside the house in London,
"Achha Maami. Thanks for everything," She leans down and hugs Babli tight. "Don't forget the promise," She whispers in her ear.
"I won't," Babli whispers back.
"Are you sure you'll be okay taking a taxi?" Her Maami asks.
Twinkle nods. "Don't worry about me," She turns to leave.
"Wait!" Her Maami calls out.
"Ab kya hai?" Twinkle sighs and turns around. "Yeah?"
"Take this. Manmeet left it for you," She hands Twinkle a folded piece of paper and winks at her. "Make sure you read it,"
"I will Maami," Twinkle says, going towards the taxi waiting at the curb.
She quickly gets in the taxi before her Maami can stop her again, and goes off to the airport. She looks at the piece of paper her Maami gave her and decides against opening it now. She shoves it into her purse and tries to forget about it. Once she arrives at the airport, she notices that her flight's been delayed by two hours. "Ugh! I should've checked!" Twinkle sighs and decides to grab a bite to eat as well as a few magazines, then she heads to her gate. She finds a nice seat in the secluded corner and curls up with her magazine. She starts digging into her purse for her reading glasses when her hand hits against the piece of paper from Manmeet. Unwillingly she unfolds it and out falls Kunj's card.
"How'd this get in here?" Twinkle mumbles to herself, slipping it behind the paper.
"Twinkle, I know this whole marriage situation must be uncomfortable to you, but rest assured I'll do anything that can keep you happy." Twinkle sighs. "Why he'd have to be such a nice guy?" She continues reading. "Yesterday I noticed that once the ring ceremony was over, you looked a little lost, or maybe upset; I'm not sure. I just hope it has nothing to do with me. But if you're not happy Twinkle, tell me. I don't want this one decision to spoil your whole life, Yours, Manmeet."
Twinkle puts down the letter and just looks up at the ceiling. "I hate this," She whispers to herself. "Why is it always me in hardships? It's not fair," She nearly drops the card out of her hand, and so she looks at it again. "Should I email him? He clearly seemed like he wanted nothing to do with me," Twinkle makes up her mind and walks towards a small internet service booth, and takes out her laptop and plugs it in. Her welcome screen pops up and she goes straight to her email account, and types in Kunj's email address; Kunj_Sarna1@hotmail.com. Then she sits with her chin in her hands, contemplating what to write, finally she decides on something short and just clicks send, before her nerves get in the way and convince her she shouldn't send it. "Now we wait," she mumbles as she taps her fingers on the desk.
Kunj sighs as he leans back in his office chair still in London.
"What's up Kunj? You seem to have lost interest in everything!" Manmeet comments. "Maybe we need to get you engaged too, it'll make you focus better," He laughs.
Kunj just looks up at him and glares. "Not funny,"
"Okay okay, oh I sent you the new proposal for the deal tomorrow in your email check it out and let me know what changes you want or anything okay?" Manmeet says leaving, "Oh and hey, what's your honest opinion about Twinkle?"
"My honest opinion?" Kunj repeats looking up at him. "If I tell you my honest opinion, you might not be too happy with me Manmeet," Kunj smiles at him. "She seems like the perfect girl for our family,"
Manmeet grins. "You're right,"
"I know I am. I just didn't mention who she'd be perfect for," Kunj groans as he pushes away from his desk and stares outside at the falling rain. "I better check the proposal, otherwise Manmeet will have another reason to tease me," Kunj mutters to himself, swivelling the chair to face his open laptop. He goes to his email and sees the email from Manmeet, as well as one from an address he doesn't recognize, diamond_designer@hotmail.com. "Who could that be?" He mumbles to himself. "It's probably spam," But for some reason, instead of deleting it, he clicks on it.
"Kunj, I'm engaged." That was what the entire message said. Kunj quickly dug into his wallet to retrieve Twinkle's card, and wasn't surprised to find out that the email address on the card was the same as the email he just got.
"Why is she sending this to me? Didn't she understand at that point, that the minute Manmeet put his ring on her finger, any relation between us was over," Kunj put his head in his hands. "I can't deal with this." He picked up his phone and dialled a number.
"Hello?" a voice answers on the other end.
"Yuvraj, it's me Kunj. Please don't hang up. I really need to talk to you, it's important," Kunj says quickly.
"What is it?" Yuvraj asks in an impatient voice.
"Can we meet and discuss it?" Kunj asks.
"Where are you right now KS? I mean Kunj Bhaiyya?" Yuvraj catches himself.
"I'm in London right now, but I'm planning on coming to Mumbai tomorrow night." Kunj tells him, happy that his younger brother still remembered the nickname he had given him so many years ago.
"Okay then we can meet somewhere, the day after at 10 in the morning?" Yuvraj asks.
Kunj smiles. "Yuvraj, since when do you wake up before 10?"
"I've changed a lot of things in my life. My waking up time wasn't the hardest to change." Yuvraj answers coldly. "See you the day after tomorrow Bhai. Yuvraj hangs up.
Kunj puts down his phone and smiles at it. "That wasn't nearly as bad as it was two months ago,"
Two Months Ago
"Please pick up," Kunj mumbled under his breath, holding the phone to his ear.
"Hello?" Yuvraj answered on the other end.
"Yuvraj, it's Kunj'" Kunj managed to get out before Yuvraj slammed down the phone.
Back to the present
Every time after that, Yuvraj would constantly slam down the phone he'd even hear Kunj's voice, till magically this time.
"I wonder what made the difference this time," Kunj wonders quietly to himself. "But now what should I do about this email? Kunj taps his feet against the keyboard again, until he finally decides to reply.
"I know that you're engaged Twinkle, but you also need to know that for me, nothing is more important than my family, not even, a possible relationship. I just hope that from now on, you listen to me, and we refrain from keeping any contact with each other." Kunj just hits send and closes his eyes.
In Mumbai
"Di! When did you get home??!" Mahi screams as she sees Twinkle in the kitchen. "You didn't even tell me what time your flight was!!" Mahi runs and hugs her tightly.
Twinkle laughs as she lets go of Mahi. "I just got home about an hour ago, and I knew you'd be home soon, isiliye phone bhi nahi kiya,"
"You should've!" Mahi pouts.
"Sorry baba!" Twinkle holds her ears.
"Chalo theek hai, maaf kiya," Mahi hugs her again.
Right then the doorbell rings and so Twinkle goes to answer the door, and standing in front of her is someone extremely tall, and his face is turned into a frown even though you could tell that with a smile he'd look twenty times better than he already does.
"Hi, um Mahi Taneja?" He asks.
"Right here," Twinkle answers, gesturing for Mahi to come to the door.
"Oh hi," Mahi says quickly.
"You forgot this in the car," Yuvraj tells her, handing her a scarf.
Mahi snatches it out of his hand. "Thanks'I'll see you later," She attempts to shut the door.
"Now wait a minute," Twinkle says. "Won't you introduce us?" she looks at Mahi.
"Di, yeh hai Yuvraj Sarna, I spoke to you about him on the phone? And Yuvraj this is my older sister Twinkle." Mahi says looking nervous.
"The same Yuvraj she was so angry with two days ago...ab kya hogaya?" Twinkle keeps smiling as she notices Mahi telling Yuvraj to leave quickly just with her eyes. "Nice to meet you Yuvraj," She puts out her hand.
"Same here," Yuvraj answers, putting his hand in hers.
"Would you like to come in for a bit?" Twinkle offers.
"Sure'" Yuvraj answers as Mahi interrupts.
"But he has to go, don't you Yuvraj?"
"Mahi. Tum rehne do, I can see what's happening here. Let him come in," Twinkle laughs, as Yuvraj steps into the house. Twinkle leads him to the family room, and tells Mahi to go get some juice or water.
"So I'm guessing you're in college with Mahi?" Twinkle asks.
"Ji," Yuvraj answers.
"You don't have to be so formal you know?" Twinkle giggles. "I don't bite or anything!"
Hearing that made Yuvraj burst out laughing, and then he covered his mouth, "I just haven't been so happy in a long time,"
Twinkle looks up at him. "Oh, um I don't mean to prod, but if it's anything you want to talk about..."
Yuvraj sighs. "I don't know. Just seeing how close you and Mahi are, made me think of my older brother and how we're not close at all, and how really it IS my fault."
Mahi stops in her tracks, listening to Yuvraj talk about his family life.
"You see Twinkle, I was young when both my parents passed away in a car accident, and so I always was led to believe that it was god's doing, but then a few years ago, I found out that my parents had a fight regarding my older brother, and so I guess, deep down I just started blaming him, and so I stopped talking to him, refused to keep any contact, and now we barely talk." Yuvraj sighs and closes his eyes. "But seeing the way you and Mahi are, despite not having your parents around, makes me believe that I might have that with my brother too,"
Twinkle smiles at him. "You can have it, if you give him a chance,"
"What do you mean?" Yuvraj looks up at her.
"I can tell from your talks that you really miss him don't you?"
Yuvraj nods. "A lot,"
"Then just call him, ask him to meet up," Twinkle advises.
"He's in London right now, and he's actually coming tomorrow to meet up with me," Yuvraj answers.
"There you go!" Twinkle gets up and gives him a small hug. "It'll all work out,"
Yuvraj's phone rings, interrupting him from talking. "Hello? Oh hi KS. Yeah, that works out fine for me. I can't wait to see you either, Okay. Bye!" Yuvraj hangs up. "That was my brother!"
"Is his name KS?" Mahi laughs coming in from the kitchen.
Yuvraj gives her a glare. "No. His name's Kunj, I call him KS for short."
"Ku..Kunj?" Twinkle repeats. "And your last name's Sarna right?"
Yuvraj nods. "You might know my brother, he and my cousin head our company, Sarna Group of Industries,"
Twinkle nods. "So I've heard," She stands up. "I'll be right back in a few minutes," Twinkle heads upstairs to her secluded bedroom and boots up her laptop. "Please let there be an email waiting for me," she mumbles under her breath. When she finally opens her email screen, she sees an email there from him.
"I know that you're engaged Twinkle, but you also need to know that for me, nothing is more important than my family, not even, a possible relationship. I just hope that from now on, you listen to me, and we refrain from keeping any contact with each other."
Twinkle releases the breath she had been holding, and works up the nerve to reply to him.
"Mr. Kunj Sarna, I'll have you know, that cutting off all friendships with people, is not how I honor a new relationship. Keeping in contact with you, AS A FRIEND, will not pose any harm to anyone," She hits send and sighs. "I really shouldn't have done that,"
That's it. And it was super long, so no complaints! I'll try to update again soon! Please do let me know how bad it really was!
