Part Two

He caressed the back of her head. Usually when he did this, she would realize he was trying to be affectionate and to relax her when needed. They hadn't had many moments like this since Goa.

She stepped back nearly slipping on the bedding, he caught her by her waist.

"Twinkle dhyaan se," he said with concern.

" I forgive you Twinkle. Now please relax and rest," he insisted.

He merely cradled her fragile frame in his arms and laid her down in the bed and covered her with the duvet.

Slowly her grip loosened from his shirt, and then he was able to lean up and go about his usual morning routine.

An hour later, he brought up a tray for Twinkle. He had an exam today. So he was planning make sure ate something then he would head out to college. He decided he wouldn't linger too much today. He had a sinking feeling, Twinkle would try to do too much when she was still ill.

Twinkle was sitting up in bed when he arrived.

"Ab kaise lagra hai?," he asked.

She smiled slightly.

" Pehle se better," she muttered.

"Yeh lo thoda khalo. Mujhe thori dhere main jana hai college. So please no arguments today," he urged.

Her eyes widened .

" I am sorry Kunj, aaj tumara exam hai! Yeh tum yahan raklo. Main tumare liye shirt press kar dete hoon," she said scrambling up from the bed.

Kunj grabbed her wrist.

"Koi baat nahin. I studied the material before I came home yesterday. You relax and sit," he insisted.

"Nahin Kunj, aaj phir se meri wajh se tumara kuch..," she trailed off.

He cupped her face. This time it wasn't as intense as last time. This time he wasn't upset at her.

"Pelhe kuch khalo," he hissed.

She nodded and took a spoon of khichdi. Kunj had her sip some water and then she nursed her cup of tea as he got his things ready.

She quickly placed the white shirt on the bed, when he was in the washroom. It was the only one in the cupboard that was ironed.

She smiled later as he grabbed and put on it over his vest.

Seeing her smile, he had to crack a joke.

"You like what you see wifey?," he asked.

Twinkle rolled her eyes.

" Main thori na gore thi tumhe," she hissed.

He chuckled at her comments.

"Main tera pati hoon Twinkle. Tumhe poora haq hai mujhe pe," he declared firmly.

She raised her gaze at him.

Butterflies filled her stomach.

She wanted to run into his arms and never let go. However he was getting late for his exam, her expression of how much he meant to her would have to wait.

A plan began to form in her mind.

Kunj gave a quick considerate look as he started to leave.

"Apna dhyaan rakna. Main kuch ghaante ke baad ajhoon gaya," he stated.

She merely nodded.

"Iss ladki mai kuch chal ra hai," he muttered to himself as he reached the door. He shrugged his shoulders.

After waiting a few minutes, Twinkle dialed Chinky's number.

"Hello Chinky mujhe tumare help ki zaroozat hai," Twinkle stated.

She quickly explained her plan to Chinky. With Bebe and Usha occupied with Chinky for a few hours, Twinkle got ready. Her body still ached, but she wanted to do this for Kunj.

She dressed in the turquoise saree.

Chinky spotted her emerging from the stairs. Her friend gave her a thumb up sign and indicated to her where the tiffin was. Twinkle smiled with glee. She mouthed a thanks and headed out through the back door.

Twinkle decided to stop by her mother's to check things out, when she spotted Cherry standing outside of the house. She signaled to the guard to turn on the water hose. She quickly sprayed Cherry, and then ran from there.

She giggled hearing Cherry's yelps from the distance.

She got back into her car and headed to Kunj's college.

Eyes were attracted to the young woman as she emerged from the car. She ignored the eyes bearing into her back.

Kunj just emerged from his classroom when he heard people talking about some item in a sari.

He shook his head. He walked towards the canteen when he saw some of the people disperse. There she was looking like an angel.

She was holding a tiffin.

He walked swiftly over to her. He glared at the boys staring at his wife.

They stepped back a bit.

He turned back towards her.

"Tum yahaan kya kari ho?," he asked.

" Tumara tiffin dene," she quipped.

"Tum behmar ho, Twinkle!," he hissed.

" I feel a little better. Besides I wanted to dress up a bit more for you. You always have the complaint I am not mature enough and that my dressing sense could be better," she quipped.

"Tum jaise kapre pehenti ho, mujhe wahi pasand hai. I don't like these people staring at you like this," he quipped.

She smiled brightly at him.

"Chalo yahaan se. I will find a decent spot for us to sit and eat," he declared.

He spotted his jacket on his bike and put it around Twinkle.

They sat and ate at a secluded spot. Twinkled asked about his exam and classes.

" Mujhe lagta hai results acche ayenge," he declared.

She smiled at the fact he was confident. She was glad she hadn't taken that away with her cruel words the night before.

When it was time to leave, Twinkle headed towards her car.

"Main bike per aaya tha. Are you ok to drive home? I can call Ma's driver if you want," he suggested.

" Main manage kar loongi Kunj,."

"Theek hai, lekin doosre kapre pehen le na ghar jake," he admonished.

She nodded with a bright smile.

She realized Kunj would never leave her. He cared too much to leave her stranded on this journey of life. Her mother and Babaji had chosen wisely for her future after all.
