Hello guys! So I am back with my second OS! thank you so much for receiving me and my first OS so well in this forum, your love for my work has encouraged me to come back with another OS. But please overlook the slight assumption that Twinj is having a Hindu wedding here (even though I am engaged to a Sikh man, I still am not sure if the rituals :P) also forgive me if I missed out on the order of rituals- well my knowledge of Hindu weddings are also limited as I follow Islam. But I needed to use the Hindu wedding for dramatic license:D
On that note, Happy Reading and I hope you enjoy the read!
Please drop in and leave behind your thoughts! I love to hear from my readers!

TwinJ OS - Because of You

"Oye Kunj, you can't walk a little slowly or what?!?"whispered Twinkle urgently as she took slow and reluctant steps after Kunj completing their third phera.

Kunj shrugged in annoyance and calmly whispered back, "You really think your Yuvi will come now Twinkle? We waited all day for him to come here and take you and elope, when he didn't turn up all day, you think he will come now amidst these pheras?"

Twinkle panicked further, as she started the fourth phera now. Was Kunj right? Would Yuvi not come? What if she kept waiting and he didn't come and they ended up taking all the seven pheras? All would be over then right? "Kunj we have to stop this marriage! You are right, what if Yuvi doesn't come? What if he is in trouble? I need to go look for him. Please Kunj, help me stop this non-sense, my Yuvi needs me, what if he has met with an accident or something?"

"What if - he.has.ditched.you."Kunj muttered carefully after coming to a hault before the wedding fire after completing the fourth phera. Twinkle glared at him, how dare he have such an opinion about Yuvi. "Oyi listen, keep your gibberish to yourself. It's pointless talking to you. I will only have to stop this now. Oh Babaji, please help me" she whispered fiercely, but soon she lost her train of thoughts as the priest instructed her to come before Kunj for the rest of the pheras.

"Has your Babaji ever failed you in any other ventures apart from Yuvi and your saga?" she heard Kunj asking quietly as he followed her for the fifth phera. Twinkle was about to reply in annoyance when the thought really struck her, well how did Kunj know? True her Babaji has never failed her in any other way apart from Yuvi's. She had prayed so hopelessly for their happy ending but this one prayer never seemed to reach her Babaji! And come what may, she got tangled with Kunj with social bonds, could this be a hint? Was Ma right? Did her happiness lie with Kunj and that's why Babaji always kept her with him?

"But Yuvi?"she muttered uncertainly. "..would have come here if he thought you're worth it. AND nothing has happened to him. Before starting the pheras I had asked a friend to enquire, he has news that Yuvi is clubbing tonight."

Twinkle stopped abruptly amidst the sixth phera in shock, but Kunj nudged her to keep walking. Tears leaked down her eyes as she kept walking around the wedding fire in shock and disbelief. "Kunj, you knew all this while? Why didn't you tell me?" her voice was hoarse.

"Because I didn't want to see you in pain, I didn't want you to take a drastic step and rip open your mother heart, that to for someone, who wanted to use you as a pawn to accomplish just that feat - of maligning your family name and humiliating your mother - Yes Twinkle Yuvi used you and was doing his mother's bidding, it was his plan all along to make you break the wedding pledging your love for him, and if you go to him now, he will reject you. Their name wont be involved only your family's name will be down because you ran away from your wedding for the enemies son, shaming all! I found all these out just sometime back. But I didn't want to tell you, why would you believe me? BUT Nothing is lost yet Twinkle, Yuvi hasn't won, you can still dampen his plan - one more phera Twinkle and Yuvi will be finished - don't you owe your mother this?"

"Beta come start the final phera" she heard the priest's voice and came out of her reverie. As she begun the final round, a lot of things played in her head - why was she taking this phera, since when did her brain accept the routing function of if not Yuvi then Kunj? Why was it not hurting her as much as she thought it would to walk away from Yuvi and accept Kunj? Why was she trusting Kunj's words without proof, why did she just know that Kunj wasn't lying and he had the best intentions for her at heart? Why was she feeling that Babaji was with her in this act? And suddenly, there was a shout of jubilations - the pheras were done.

"Ab yeh shaadi sampanya hua" they heard the priest announcing.

Twinkle looked up at a thoroughly shaken face of Kunj and smiled. "I accept you Kunj, because my mother and Babaji chose you for me. But why did you do this to yourself?"

"Because of you" came his swiftly reply with a twinkle in his eye.

This was a really sweet OS!

But I'll leave behind some notes on what happens in a Sikh wedding in case you wish to use the same theme in a future piece of writing.

- There is no fire in a Sikh wedding. The pheras are taken around the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture, and the wedding ceremony (called the Anand Karaj), itself takes place usually in the gurdwara. However, if the Sri Guru Granth Sahib is installed at home, it can happen there too.

- There isn't technically a priest like in the Hindu culture, but rather a granthi who takes care of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

- There aren't 7 pheras but 4. The couple will be seated before the Sri Guru Granth Sahib and will listen to the granthi lecture about the significance of marriage. The stanzas that he reads are 4, and hence the 4 pheras that the couple will have to take as the ragis sing out the stanzas.

There are a lot more details that go into a Sikh marriage but as they didn't pertain to this OS, I will refrain from speaking more. But if you would still like to learn more, then let me know. :)

Hi Aafrah,
This was such a sweet little OS - not over the top, but perfect in terms of characterisation.

Great work.

Keep writing! 😊
