Okay, I just finished watching the performance. (Thank you IanSomer1 for sending me the links! The first one worked for me. :))
Now, for the performances. 😳
Note: I saw this performance not as Jasmine, Zain or Sid performing (although it was them.) Rather, I saw this as the actors as their characters dancing. I.e., it was Yuvi, Twinkle and Kunj dancing. Normally, when channels host these type of events, they have the characters be invited to the show rather than actors. After all, it will be much easier to have the fictional worlds mesh together than have reality collide with fiction.
Hopefully, after reading everything it will become much clearer as to what I'm talking about.
Performance #1 - Yuvi/Twinkle:
Sun Saathiya is one of my favorite songs ever (because it's from Varun's film but that's besides the point). Sun Saathiya is a song that requires a lot of emotion to be delivered, especially from the female. It is a song of yearning, and longing. It is a desire and a soulful calling from her to the one she loves, to show her a little bit of attention. To shower her with just a shred of the same love that she showers him with.
All this was failed to be delivered in their performance. Don't get me wrong, the song was a great choice for them but it was not executed properly.
First of all, both of them more mostly stationary. Majority of the performance passed by with Twinkle having her hands wrapped Yuvi which limited the range of moves and emotions they could both show.
Secondly, there wasn't a variety of moves that they demonstrated. It was mostly lifts, which weren't all too complex in nature either.
Thirdly, it was too short. It ended before it even began and I couldn't invest myself enough to find any good things about it. If it had been any longer, they could have added more moves to the choreography and made it somewhat acceptable enough to be considered a dance.
Performance #2 - Kunj/Twinkle:
This was a better performance - not one of the greatest, but better.
First of all, they were both mobile. They weren't simply standing in one place or wrapped around each other the whole time. We saw Twinkle move around, away from Kunj, towards him, around him. She was free to show some of her skills. As for Kunj, we saw him move around as well and be much more active. There was a precision in his moves but nothing seemed like it was forced.
Secondly and thirdly, there was so much more variety in their choreography as well as more time devoted to their performance. Now, I don't know why this is but it has undoubtedly created a big bias. Because their performance was longer and had more substance to it, it will be remembered by the audience a lot more.
I wish the same amount of attention was given to Yuvi/Twinkle's performance as well.
I'll mention this here since I discussed the song choice in the first performance.
The song choice for Kunj/Twinkle is undoubtedly deliberate. This song was in Kunj's perspective and it could be taken as a possible foreshadowing by the viewers that it might be Kunj who falls in love with Twinkle first while she is still longing for Yuvi. Albeit, the form in which Kunj falls in love will differ (he might think he's becoming protective and caring for her as a friend or because he simply can't see any women being abused). But either case, I feel like it's going to be him who falls for her first.
Performance #3 - Yuvi/Twinkle/Kunj:
I never heard the song Tashan-E-Ishq before, and I must say it's quite catchy. 😆
As for the performance, it wasn't too great. The song requires a LOT of attitude. It's literally about competition and proving the other who is best. Personally, I felt that Kunj brought that out a lot rather than Yuvi or even Twinkle. Yuvi, who should be fiercer and badder than Kunj, just did not have that spunk. Rather, it was Kunj who was busting out all the moves and showing just what he's made of.
As for Twinkle, she too was flat. Again, I don't know if it's the choreography, but compared to Kunj, she and Zain simply did not have the required spunk that the song needed. They both were left considerably behind.
And I've watched the end so many times and I don't know what the hell happened but Kunj gave a high jump/dance move in the air while Yuvi/Twinkle were busy making googly eyes at the back. I literally wanted to say no one cares about your high kicks Kunj, stop showing off. 🤣
Overall:
It was an okay performance? Like there was nothing too great about any of them because they all had their flaws. But since the question originally asked, (yes after writing all this down I noticed what the question is, don't judge! 😆) who performed the best, I will say Kunj (Sid). He is truly a far better dancer out of them. I don't know if it's because he got better choreography or what the deal is but I feel like it's not fair.
I mean, I absolutely thrilled that Sid can do all this - act and dance really well. But that doesn't mean that it should be his responsibility to carry the other two's flaws. It's like in school where you have to do a group assignment and you have been paired up with all the lazy people and you end up doing all the work but everyone gets a credit in the end. I hope you guys get what I mean. This can badly affect Sid as due to Zain and Jasmine's flaws, he could lag behind and lose out on opportunities that will otherwise make him reach immense success.
Then again, I might be too harsh on them as this is the first dance performance of theirs that I have seen. Hopefully, in future ones they get better choreography and direction and do a much better job.
