I have read all your comments and I want to appreciate them with all my heart..I want to also thank the readers who have pressed the 'like' button for my updates..Love you all for the love and support you all are giving me..🤗

PART 4

Sharmishta woke up early in the morning. An affectionate smile appeared on her lips when she saw the innocent face of her Chinnu, who was looking really cute with her hair falling to her eyes. She extended her hand and slowly moved her hair from her forehead and placed a soft kiss there. Swara slightly squirmed in her sleep and murmured "Ammaaa" softly with her eyes still closed.

Sharmishta got up from the bed, tied her hair into a bun and walked towards the front door. When she opened the door she was surprised to see Sanskaar sitting in the verandah.

Sha: (smiles) Sanskaar... So early in the morning... ?
Sa: Amma...where is Chinnu... ?(tries to look inside)

Sha: (smiles widely) She is still asleep. (then excitedly)She came here yesterday night itself.. But you were saying that you wanted to give her some surprise and she will come here today only..?

Sa: (looks away guiltily) Actually Sharmishta Amma.. (musters some courage and looks at her face again)..I will tell you everything... What happened was that...

Just then Swara walked into the scene and Sanskaar was interrupted by her.

Sw: Amma... I had great fun at their home... Sanskaar gave me a huge surprise... (looks at Sanskaar with a mocking smile)

Sanskaar stared at her with a painful expression.

Sha: (smiles) Is it, Chinnu..? Ok now both of you sit down and talk with each other.. I will bring some tea for all of us...

And she walked inside. Swara glared at Sanskaar with her one eyebrow raised. Sanskaar let out an impatient sigh and looked away, as he was finding it difficult to meet her testy glare. He took a deep breath and gathered up himself. He met her gaze and started talking.

Sa: (impatient tone) Why did you stop me from explaining everything to Sharmishta Amma... ?
Sw: (serious tone) Because, I didn't want her to feel hurt in any way... Look, Mr. Sanskaar... I didn't tell anything ill about you and your family to my Amma... I know that she values Annapurna aunty's friendship very much... I didn't want to spoil their relationship..

Sa: But listen to me Sw..

Sw: (pointing her index finger at him) You listen to me Mr. Sanskaar.. I don't want any drama here and I don't want your "I-am-sorry" expression too.. It doesn't suit you..(smirks with contempt)

Sanskaar's expression was turning sour now. She opened his mouth to retort but just then Sharmishta arrived with three steaming cups of tea.

Sha: Sanskaar, please ask Annapurna to come with me and Chinnu to the Devi temple in the evening. Chinnu has arrived here in our place after a long time. So it will be good if we take her to the temple.

Sa:(sipping the tea) Sure..

Sanskaar looked into Swara's direction and raised his one eyebrow angrily to which Swara raised her both eyebrows and fumed at him.
He thought "Oh my God. What a haughty and arrogant girl she is... !! Sharmishta amma is such a kind and sweet person...! I guess I didn't do any wrong in making fool of her... She deserved it..."

Swara sipped her tea and thought "Oh God. ! I have never seen such a man in my entire life. Annapurna aunty and Ragini are actually nice persons. But this Sanskaar is such a scoundrel. "

In the evening, Sanskaar was sitting behind the cash counter of his supermarket store. Just then, his friend Nandu walked into the shop and approached him excitedly.

Na: Sanskaar... Sanskaar...

Sa: (smiles excitedly) Nandu...

Na: Sanskaar... I was sitting at the tea shop near our Devi temple and guess whom I saw... ?(his eyes wide with excitement)

Sa: (frowns) Who... ?

Na: (dramatically)Sharmishta Aunty's daughter... (hits his own chest with his fist with a dreamy expression) What a beauty, my friend... !!! Ohhh my God... !!! Kill me...!! Kill me... (hits his chest again and again)
..I heard it when Annapurna Aunty was introducing her to someone else.

Sanskaar pursed his lips together and shook his head in exasperation.

Sa: (angrily) Nanduuu please..stop this non sense..!! (looks away impatiently) I don't care a damn about her..(looks at him again and yells angrily) You don't like me having a peace of mind at least here in my shop.. ?!!

Nandu was gazing at his friend open mouthed.

Na: What happened, daa ? ("daa" is a way of addressing a friend like "yaar") Why are you over reacting.. ?

Sanskaar realized his mistake and he extended his hand and patted Nandu's shoulder consolingly.

Sa: Forgive me, daa.. I am in a bad mood since morning..
Na: (frowns)What happened.. ? (putting his arm around Sanskaar's shoulder)

Sanskaar began to tell him the story and after hearing everything, Nandu shook his head in disapproval.

Na: What you did was not right, Sanskaar..

Sa: (widens his eyes) Now you also start lecturing me, Nandu.. !(turns his face away, annoyed)

Na: (dreamy expression) What a sweet girl she is.. ? How could you cheat her like that. ?

Sanskaar got really annoyed and pushed him by his shoulder.

Sa: (angrily) You just go away from here.. !! You are not my friend..!

Na: Of course, I am your friend, Sanskaar.. But I was just telling that she is so beautiful.. (regains his dreamy expression and gazes distantly) Huuhhh...I wish she was my wife... !

Hearing those words, a hot surge of anger seared Sanskaar for some unknown reason. He pursed his lips together and clenched his jaws immediately. Nandu was aware of it only when a strong fore-arm wound round his neck from behind and he began to gasp for breath.

Na: (panics) Huuhh... What the hell are you doing..?!! Leave me, daa... !!

Sanskaar whispered dangerously in his ears.
Sa: Stop it, because I don't like it... you got that...!!

Na: (struggling hard) Eh... What.. ?!!

Sa: Stop your non sense regarding her...I don't like it...

Sanskaar loosened his grip around his neck when he realized what he was doing. He let out a deep breath and walked out of the shop. Nandu rubbed his neck with his mouth slightly open and stared after Sanskaar's retreating back.

Na: Now ,what is the matter with him.. ?

Meanwhile at the temple, Swara was waiting for Sharmishta to finish her prayers while Annapurna approached her. She placed her palm on Swara's shoulder.

An: Chinnu... You are also like a daughter for me, my dear.. Please forgive me for everything that had happened.. Actually Sanskaar had told me that...

Swara didn't want to bring that topic back. So she smiled politely and touched Annapurna's hand.

Sw: Aunty, no need to say sorry to me. I know that you and Ragini didn't intend to hurt me. I am sorry that I behaved with you that way when I came back to take my luggage. I should have guessed that it was entirely HIS fault. (gazed away)

Annapurna noticed the pain in her eyes and she felt a pang in her motherly heart.

An: I know that you won't be able to forgive Sanskaar, but believe me, he is not a bad person.

Sw: Please aunty.. can we just stop discussing this topic.. Please.

Annapurna realized that Swara was not yet ready to forgive her son. She smiled painfully and nodded in assent.

After returning back from the temple, Annapurna took Swara and Sharmishta to her home for tea. Ragini, who had come back from job had prepared tea for all of them. Swara smiled pleasantly at Ragini and assured that all was well between them. All the ladies sat down around the table and started having the evening snacks and tea.
Just then, Swara's phone began to ring.

She saw that it was from her father, Shekhar Menon. She quickly glanced at her Amma who was happily chatting away with Annapurna. She excused herself and walked outside with her phone.

Sw: Hello Papa.. How come you remembered me.. ?

She: Chinnu.. Why didn't you come back. ? Do you know how much worried I have been.. ?

Sw: Don't worry Papa.. I am fine here at Amma's home..

She: (shocked) What... ?! How did you reach her home... ?

Sw: I told you na Papa, that I am not going to come back without meeting my Amma...God is with me.. I found her home easily..(smiles)

She: (helplessly) Come back Chinnuu... I am missing you terribly.

Sw: (scoffs)Papa... It has been only two days since you haven't seen me, and you are in this helpless condition..Just think about Amma, it has been years since she met me.

She: But she has learnt to live without you... But I haven't..

Sw: (laughs softly) Then, you also will learn to be without me soon... Bye Papa... take care...

She disconnected the call and let out a deep sigh. Swara was just entering back into the house, when she heard the approaching noise of a motorbike. Sanskaar entered the courtyard in his bike. Swara smirked at him and he avoided her completely. She turned back towards the house and was about to enter when he too joined her and walked inside with her. Both of them headed towards the dining area where the ladies were sitting together. Sharmishta saw them approaching and smiled affectionately at Sanskaar.

Sha: Sanskaar, you came home at the right time... Chinnu, you also listen... We have planned something... Tomorrow is Sunday, so its holiday for Ragini's School and Sanskaar's shop.

Sanskaar and Swara were listeningto her intently.

Sha: Let us go for a short trip to Guruvayur Temple... We will start early morning and reach back at night... Sanskaar, can you please take care of the arrangements...

Sa: Of course, amma.. You don't worry...I will book the taxi for all of us...

Swara looked at him while he was talking, but Sanskaar didn't even glance at her, and this pricked her ego. He sat down for having his tea and Swara also sat down with them.

That night, Swara was lying cuddled to her mother when she decided to ask something.

Sw: Amma...Why are you depending on that Sanskaar for everything...I mean, he is not your son.

Sha: (smiles naughtily) Ohh.. Are you jealous of him..?

Sw: (feeling slightly offended) No Amma.. I am not..!

Sha: (smiles widely) You are right, Chinnu...He is Annapurna's son. (looks distantly as if remembering the past)But he became my son too after your Papa took you back to Mumbai. Since then, Sanskaar has always took care of me and your Grandmother, till she died..

Sharmishta reminisced the day when an eleven year old Sanskaar came to her with a helping hand. The little boy's voice was still echoing in her ears.

" Don't worry. If you are in need of anything, just tell me. I am staying in the house next to you. You know "Mangalasseri" tharavaadu. I am the son of Late. Durgaprasad Nair and Annapurna. "

"And listen. Consider me as your son from today onwards. Just tell me whatever you need at any time. "

Sha: He was a very matured and quite sensible boy even at the age of eleven... You know, his Father had died at a young age and he naturally bound himself to the responsibilities of his family.. In spite of his offers for help, I never called him for anything... But he used to come here every day and ask me if I needed anything. Be it buying necessary goods or vegetables for household use or getting medicines for your Grandmother from the town, he wanted to do everything himself.. I will hand him the money and he would go.. And you know what, he would scold me if I tried to go all by myself.. (smiles to herself)

Swara could imagine a small boy doing all these for her mother. A slight smile appeared on her rosy lips.

Sha: And do you remember that day when you fell down into the pond..?

Sw: Yes, I remember, amma.. Papa was really angry with you that day and that was the reason why he took me away from you, saying that you were an irresponsible mother.. But I tried to reason with him a lot that it was my fault that I jumped into the water even after you tried to stop me from doing so...(then with an anxious look) And you know what amma, I still have flashes of drowning in the water at times and I often dream about that incident. (fearful eyes)

Sharmishta's eyes moistened and she was feeling overwhelmed.

Sha: (sobs slightly )My poor baby.. (hugs Swara tightly)

For some seconds Swara shut her eyes tightly and snuggled her head closer to her mother's bosom.

Sha: That day, Sanskaar rescued you from the pond, Chinnu...Can you remember.. ?

Swara opened her eyes in a jiffy.

Sw: What are you saying, Amma.. ?!! That boy was Sanskaar.. !!

Sha: (smiles happily and pats her cheek) Hmm.. Yes Chinnu...Ok, so now you sleep.. We have to get up early morning..

Saying so, Sharmishta drifted off into a peaceful sleep, leaving a " not so sleepy anymore" Swara ponder over her renewed thoughts regarding Sanskaar.

At about 6 a.m. in the morning, all of them got ready. One by one, they got into the car, which arrived on time. All the while Swara was trying hard to meet Sanskaar's eyes, but to her utter dismay, he was avoiding her completely.

Swara thought "Oh no... Poor Sanskaar... He is really angry with me... But there are so many reasons for which I need to say 'Thank you' and 'sorry' to him. "

Swara, Ragini, Sharmishta and Annapurna got into the back seats of the vehicle, whereas Sanskaar got into the front seat near the Taxi Driver.

And thus they set off towards their destination.

Swara was sitting near the window, just behind Sanskaar. Even while she was enjoying the breath taking views of the landscape, which was looking green and lustrous in the morning mist and the golden rays of the rising sun, her eyes kept wandering towards the rear view mirror, which was showing her the reflection of another person who was rising like glowing Sun in her thoughts-- Sanskaar. She was studying his features closely. His thick and black eyebrows, his captivating eyes, his aristocratic nose, and the wonderful stubble; everything about him seemed rare and handsome. She blushed suddenly at her own girly thoughts and looked away smiling widely. She bit her lower lip and let out a giggle. Sharmishta leaned towards her and smiled.

Sha: Now what is with you, Chinnu.. Why are you giggling?
Sw: (stammers) N--Nothing, am--amma. (smiles in assurance)

She stealthily threw another glance at him and smiled sweetly. She thought "What is happening to me... ? Why am I behaving like a dreamy teenager? But this feeling is so blissful...Is this Love... ?!! "

Just then, Sanskaar's eyes casually wandered into the side rear view mirror and caught Swara staring at him in a special way. Sanskaar frowned and looked closely into the mirror because he was unable to believe what he was seeing. Swara suddenly noticed it and turned her gaze away in a jiffy. She shut her eyes tightly and chided herself inwardly, and this didn't go unnoticed by Sanskaar.

He thought "What the hell.. !! What is with this girl now.. ? Why was she staring at me like that..."

Swara was really careful not to look at him again for some time and she slowly dozed off leaning her head towards the edge of the window.

Sanskaar also didn't pay attention to her for some time, but his heart was continuously telling him to check whether she was looking at him again and finally he turned to look at her reflection in the mirror. And there she was, sleeping like a cute baby. His expression softened and he gazed at her closely. He thought, "She is really sweet and beautiful.. Nandu is right.. And what I did to her was not right.. I wish she would just forgive me soon.. "

Dear Naina,

So love is finally in the air - we just have to see who 'hears' the 'call' first.

Sanskaar and Swara both realise their anger with each other was misplaced and in a gradual way. Loved the way you built up the self-realisation - Swara coming to know about how dependable Sanskaar is and that he is the one who had saved her years ago; Sanskaar moment comes when he catches a glimpse of Swara sleeping peacefully and looking cute.
