Chapter:- 19
After enjoying their visit to the beautiful beach, Ragini and Lakshya decide to walk back to the hotel instead of taking a cab. In the midway, Ragini holds Lakshya's hands and starts twisting her fingers with his. Lakshya looks at her hand for a second and then he blushes.
Lakshya- Ragini, what are you doing?
Ragini- Playing with your fingers.
Lakshya- I know that but why so?
Ragini- Because I love you.
Lakshya- How many times do you say that in a day?
Ragini- As many times as I wish!
Lakshya- Do you really love me?
Ragini- Do you still have a doubt?
Lakshya- What can you do for me?
Ragini- Everything except hurting you! If you ask me to hurt you to prove my love, I won't be able to.
Lakshya- In case, I'm in some kind of danger and the only way to save me is to put your life in risk, would you be able to give up your own life to save me?
Ragini- Firstly, I wouldn't let anything happen to you. Secondly, if any bad thing even comes close to you, I'll kill myself to protect you, if needed.
Lakshya feels touched by Ragini's answer. He never thought someone could love him so much. All his ex girlfriends had only wanted his money and nothing else. And this girl, whom he had hurt in every possible way, loved him to death. His eyes turn teary. Suddenly, a man comes and puts a knife at Lakshya's neck. Ragini freaks out to see this.
The man (to Ragini)- Hey, you! Come on, give me your purse, jewellery, watch and everything that you have or else I'll kill him.
Ragini feels that her life is at the tip of the man's knife. She literally goes insane out of fear. The man she had always loved, the man she could die for, is now on the verge of dying. How could she even imagine that in the wildest of her dreams? She starts crying like crazy.
Ragini (crying)- Don't...Don't hurt him. I'll do as you say. I'll give you all my money, jewellery, purse and everything that I have but just don't hurt him.
Lakshya (by eyes)- Ragini, you don't have to do this. Just do as I say. Don't give him anything. Make an excuse, bend down, take some sand in your hand and throw it on his face!
Ragini (by eyes)- No Lakshya, he might hurt you if I do anything like that.
Lakshya (by eyes)- Nothing will happen, Ragini. Trust me, just do...
Ragini (by eyes)- Shut up Lakshya, just shut up! Let me handle this.
Ragini starts opening her jewellery, watch etc one by one and keeps it on the sand.
The man- Keep it near me! Don't keep it so far away.
Ragini- Okay, just don't hurt him. Keep that knife away from him, please. I'm...I'm giving all this to you.
Lakshya keeps staring at Ragini with too many questions. Ragini slowly walks towards the man with her jewelleries, watch etc and keeps them all near him. Just when the man bends down to pick the stuff up, Ragini pulls Lakshya away from the man and stands in place of him. The knife is now at Ragini's neck. This shocks Lakshya like shit. He didn't know what to do.
Lakshya (by eyes)- What the f**k did you do, Ragini? He might kill you now.
Ragini (by eyes)- I don't care. You run, Lakshya!
Lakshya (by eyes)- What? Are you crazy? No way! Don't worry, I'll do something.
The man (To Ragini)- What the hell do you think of yourself? Don't act so smart. See what I do to you now.
Ragini closes her eyes. Tears start flowing down from her eyes. The man was about to slit her neck when Lakshya grabs a handful of sand and throws it on his face. He then picks up all the stuff, holds Ragini's hand and starts running. People gather in the crime scene so the robber runs away out of hear. Ragini and Lakshya book a cab. In the midway, Ragini starts crying.
Ragini (crying)- Lakshya, are you okay?
Lakshya- I should be asking that to you! Are you okay? Ragini, who asked you to be a hero? He could've killed you. Do you realise that?
Ragini- I would've died happily with the satisfaction of knowing that at least you're safe!
Lakshya's eyes turn wet. He hugs Ragini and she hugs him back. After a while, they reach their hotel.
Ragini- Lakshya, you freshen up. I'll get the bed ready by then.
Lakshya- Ragini, I wanna say something to you.
Ragini- Hmm, say!
Lakshya- I've had relations with many a women. I've even had physical relations with too many women. I guess you know that. I've had too many girlfriends but today, for the first time ever, I feel loved for real. I feel like someone actually loves me and not my property. Thank you Ragini, thank you for everything. Thank you for your selfless love.
Ragini smiles at Lakshya.
Ragini- I'm not selfless, Lakshya. I'm selfish! I'm selfish because my heart belongs to you and had the robber hurt you even once, I would've died. I saved you to save myself. I didn't want to die by seeing you dead.
Lakshya- Why do you love me so much, Ragini?
Ragini- There is just one simple and straight reason!
Lakshya- What is it?
Ragini- I love you because I love you. No other reason!
Lakshya feels very touched by her words.
Ragini- Now go, I'll set up the bed.
Lakshya- Okay.
Lakshya goes to the washroom to freshen up. Suddenly, Ragini's phone rings. This call is from Nano.
Ragini- Hello, Naani maa?
Nano (Over phone)- Ragini beta, how are you? And how is Lucky? Are you guys enjoying the trip?
Ragini- Yes Naani maa, both of us are enjoying this trip to the fullest. How are you? Are you taking your medicines on time or not?
Nano (over phone)- Yes my hitler, I'm taking good care of myself. By the way, do you remember your promise? Have you worked on it yet?
Ragini's face turns pale on hearing it.
Ragini- Naani maa, I had just promised you that I'll try. I gave no guarantee that I'll get pregnant so soon.
Nano (over phone)- Yes, so have you given it a try?
Ragini feels awkward.
Ragini- Ummm, No!
Nano (over phone)- What? Ragini, give it a try at least. Please try to do it tonight. Please!
Ragini- Naani maa, I...
Before Ragini could complete her sentence, Lakshya comes out of the washroom and hears Ragini talking to Nano.
Lakshya- Ragini, are you talking to Nano?
Ragini- Yes!
Lakshya- Give me the phone! I wanna talk to her.
Ragini gives her phone to Lakshya.
Lakshya- Nano, I miss you. How're you?
Nano (over phone)- I'm good, Lucky. Are you enjoying your trip with your wife?
Lakshya looks at Ragini who was lost in her own thoughts.
Lakshya- Yes Nano, I'm enjoying it. Accha, I'll talk to you later, okay? I'm sleepy. Take care. Love you.
Nano (over phone)- Love you too, Lucky.
Lakshya disconnects the call and pats Ragini's shoulder. Ragini comes back to present.
Lakshya- What's bothering you, Ragini? All okay?
Ragini (stammering)- Ummm yea...Yeah! Every...everything is perfect.
Lakshya- Really? Well, it doesn't seem so! You can tell me.
Ragini- Nothing, Lakshya! Let's sleep.
Lakshya- Hmm, I'm too sleepy.
Ragini and Lakshya lay down on the bed. Lakshya falls asleep but Ragini keeps thinking about Naani maa's promise. She keeps wondering how to keep her promise. Next morning, Ragini and Lakshya comes downstairs to the hall where they hear an announcement.
Manager- Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I'm extremely glad to inform you all that our hotel is going to complete it's 5th year today. So, for this, we've decided to have a small celebration among all of us. You all are invited to this party. The party venue is the hotel garden.
Hearing this, Ragini finds an idea. In the evening, Lakshya was sitting in his room watching a movie when Ragini opens the luggage and starts searching clothes for Lakshya.
Lakshya- Ragini, what are you doing?
Ragini- Taking out your clothes!
Lakshya- Why so?
Ragini- Don't you remember? We're going to a party.
Lakshya- What party?
Ragini- The hotel's anniversary party. Forgot?
Lakshya- Oh yes! Is it necessary to go? I mean I'm not in a mood to go.
Ragini- No Lakshya, we have to go. The manager might feel bad if we don't attend the party.
Lakshya- Uhh! Okay, fine.
Ragini and Lakshya head towards the party after getting ready. The manager welcomes them. He takes Lakshya to talk to other customers but Lakshya's eyes were only looking for Ragini.
Lakshya (in mind)- Oh god, where is this Ragini now?
Ragini goes to the bar and intentionally drinks too much alcohol. Lakshya keeps looking for her when suddenly, he sees her running in the middle of the garden in front of everyone. He gets shocked to sees this and comes to her running.
Lakshya- Ragini? Ragini, are you okay?
Lakshya then gets the smell of alcohol.
Lakshya- Are...Are you drunk?
Ragini (drunk)- La...Lakshya, let me fly. I'm a bird.
Ragini opens her hands like wings and continues running in the garden in front of everyone.
Lakshya (to himself)- Oh god, no! I'm f**ked.
Lakshya also starts running behind Ragini to stop her.
