Hey Bubble...thanks so very much yaar. 🤗 🤗

Yup, Ragini certainly lacks vision doesn't she? Her plans do not extend beyond snatching something away from others, making them unhappy...but then what? If she thought about it carefully, she is not going to derive permanent happiness or peace from her Schadenfreude. And she certainly isn't building anything to take the place of what she's wanting to hurl down.

Ah well...😕 Anyway I don't think people are going to throw in the towel now without a fight. 😉

Hey Shruti...🤗 🤗

Oh yes, the morning dawned very well for SwaSan. 😳 ☺️ Well, it started off the morning after the errmmm...night at the farmhouse in the previous part, so ermmm...you get the picture. 😉

You'd told me about Ram Prasad playing a character in some other serial, but hadn't told me which one. Acha, he played a cop on crime patrol is it? Good Lord, why don't they let him speak 5 sentences straight ever? 😕

Yaar Shruti, that party which Ragini threw...when Kaveri (then known as AA 😛) said all those things about barsaat ki raat, and Durga Prasad staggered back against a pillar in sheer distress...It was so obvious that they seemed to be hinting at a liaison. And then, they came up with this ridiculous Kavita back from the dead saga, and for God's sake, Durga Prasad was scared of a photo apparently showing him crouched over a dead body? His lawyers could hit that out of the court for a sixer...and here he was, acting as if he had half a foot in the grave! 😆 (Everyone has so easily forgotten everything na?! Logic ki toh baat hi na karo Viji. This show is seriously...)

So here I decided to stick to my own theory of Durga Prasad having sown a few wild oats. 😆 But yeah, as you said, I wanted to show it as a decision he made, however much it caused him self loathing and disgust. Ultimately he succumbed to the temptation and the allurement, and I definitely didn't want to make it as if Kaveri had got him drunk! (which anyway, I find a lousy excuse 😛), or maybe spiked his juice/ sherbet/ thandai (since I guess he doesn't drink alcohol? 😉) (Excellent choice there. Let the men take some responsibility, otherwise its always the bitchy vamp who traps these poor rich little innocent boys)

I always wrote very positive portrayals for Durga Prasad in nearly all my fics to date; I had such a high regard for the man. But the way the show portrayed him pretty much shaved off a huge chunk of my respect. First he just hands over the family business, home and wealth to Ragini, without as much as a modicum of consultation with his brother or his nephew. Poor Sanskaar became the bakra, merged Karma & Co. with Maheshwari & Sons, and promptly got his share also handed over to Ragini on a platter (on the show). That started my disquiet with Durga Prasad...and then the sneaky way he got Swara's signature on those papers, made my blood boil. He didn't even tell Sanskaar about his role in that, he could have so easily spoken to him and prevented that SwaSan MU... (I am disgusted by the show DP. No matter what he does now I am never gonna be able to trust him. SwaSan are where they are today largely because of him & he is so willingly accepting Kavi as his new bahu its disgusting!)

Anyway, I digress. 😊 As I was saying, all these reasons made me feel Durga isn't such a noble character after all, so I wanted to garb him in gray in this OS series. 😊 Regarding your theory of why he finally snapped it off with Kaveri---you know, that's an interesting theory yaar. (This trait is actually eflected in his son's character as well. Even Laksh likes to do what he wants & then when its time to face the consequences he conveniently depends on others to clean up his mess & also acts all "it is your duty" with them)Frankly, when I was writing it, I thought of it as the former, Ram Prasad impressing on him the mad folly he was indulging in, and reawakening his own latent disgust at this sordid liaison. But one could make a case for the latter as well, I guess. That he was anyway in it just as a casual fling, and Ram's protective intervention gave him an out. His brother would be doing the unpleasant task of facing down Devendra and Kaveri...

Hmmm...you know what, just for the benefit of doubt, I would rather stick to the former. I still want to think of Durga Prasad as a fundamentally good guy, though definitely nowhere near as noble as
what we used to think of him , and with quite a bit of a narrower perspective.

You like the thought of a cute, chubby baby Sanskaar? Join the club, hon! 😆 I think he must have been the cutest tyke in all Calcutta! 😉 (Awwiiieee and now you have described him as well. Chotu sa chubby sanskaar!!! Viji please an OS on SwaSan's first baby!! Pleaseee! This makes me crave for one! And make it as cliched as possible 😆 😆)

And I really did want to show a similarity between Sanskaar and Ram in this one. Since my impression of Durga Prasad has taken a hit, I would much rather attribute Sanskaar's loyalty, strength, patience and steely determination to Ram. They can both go to any lengths to protect the ones they love, IMO at least. 😊

I am fast forwarding most of the show these days yaar. record the episode, and watch just the SwaSan scenes...I press my finger so hard on fast forward button for the other scenes, I think I'm gonna break the remote! 😆 (Don't do that to your remote Viji. What if it takes badla on you by breaking down when say Kavi is kissing Sanskaar again 🤣 You would be traumatized for life! Today 10 PM I will be off Swaragini & SwaSan for a whole week Havent watched a single episode, scene, OLV, segment *proud pat on the back*)

And thank you, thank you, thank you 😃 for all those lovely words about Ragini's dialogue, the parallels drawn between Karna and Sanskaar. I know you are a huge MB fan, so this literally made my day today. 🤗 🤗(It was outstandingly done! I loved it! 🤗)

As to who enters the study, I shall repeat Remus Lupin's statement to Harry Potter: "Your instincts are good, and nearly always right". 😉 😈
😈 😈
Will do my best to update over the weekend.

Lots of Love,

---Viji

Hey Uma...🤗 🤗

Thanks a ton for those lovely words. 😊

Oh Durga Prasad is no Ram...I used to think so very highly of him, but after what he's been doing on the show, his character has lost a large part of its sheen and it's venerability.

We hardly get to see poor Ram Prasad do anything on the serial. And yet, I'm sure there must be some real depth and strength to his character. I like to think Sanskaar has inherited his loyalty and sense of grounding from him.

Doing my best to finish the concluding part by the weekend.

what a stupendous update dear...loved this part totally...starting from your description of the sun in various cultures/history...am not very familiar with Greek history, though I am absolutely fascinated by Egyptian history...what an astounding era they had and the monuments they created...breath taking...Had visited Egypt few years back and was spellbound...the Egyptian people of the era gon by really and truly had vision and the expertise to carry it out too...that country is so like ours and they do love "hindustanis"...and also our own "Amitabh Bacchan"...😆...one camel wala told me about his liking for the Big B and persuaded me to hop on to that camel of his for a ride around the pyramids...😆...the negotiating and the bargaining skills come naturally to them just like we Indians...😛
in this part you really brought out the Karna part in sanskaar since the Krishna part had been done in the first part itself...the way sun god, father of Karna tried to protect him by forewarning him about Indra's intentions regarding his armour, here RP also tries to do the same, but eventually the choice was always Karna's and in this case Sanskaar's...and both made their decisions, even though it hurt their cause...bravo...it takes immense strength to take decisions knowing the after effects will weaken them...that's precisely the reason I loved Karna...He was indeed a great man, thoroughly wronged by everyone, though he himself did wrong twice...I believe I have said this earlier as well...ah sometimes I love to repeat myself...😛
The description of swasan scene was beautiful to say the least...it was so poignant...they became truly one, body, mind and soul...and they drew strength from each other to face the approaching storm...brilliantly portrayed...
RP was truly dejected when he got to know what sanskaar though about him after he misinterpreted the convo between RP and Kaveri...RP was truly devastated, but still managed to hold himself together...tough man he is...and the same toughness/strength sanskaar has...
DP, a man with clay feet...I never ever felt a teeny weeny bit of pity for that blasted old man...he simply is a selfish character, always out to save his hide...bloody moron...had the audacity to request sanskaar to handover his property so that he could retain his pride amongst all things...how low can one get...RP was so right...there is and always be a difference between his own son and treating somebody like his son...I wish him hell...😡
Ragini...ah that witch...she never learns...and is always gloating and trying to rub salt in the open wounds...though she was again right when she said that the family sanskaar was trying to protect never really thought about him...true that...am always amazed how Ragini manages to get hold of the pulse of a person, and always use it to her advantage in a very negative way...she has more understanding of people if only she could have used this nature of hers in a positive way...
something tells me this time its Annapurna who's opened the door...and must have heard everything and as usual like a typical person would say that she had known it all along and have forgiven DP for his indiscretions long time back...and eventually stopping sanskaar from signing away all his hard earned money over to that witch, since DP never really had the right to ask sanskaar in the first place to sign it over to her...and of course AP will try to make it up to sanskaar for DP's selfishness...
but for once I want sanskaar and swara to leave the maheshwari mansion and live somewhere else...after everything is sorted...of couse they all will be happy family once again minus Ragini, but the wounds sanskaar got from these insensitive toads will take a long time to heal...
Now coming to Ragini I am absolutely mortified as to how her character has shaped up in the serial...she just does not understand...she needs to be taught a lesson and lakshya has already started working on it...she needs to be hit where it hurts the most...despite being a women, I second Lakshya..( I absoluetly detest people using someone's affections/love for their own gain , both physically and emotionally...)
Ragini's redemption cannot happen till she does not understand the gravity of her mistakes...she keeps on blaming swara and then lakshya for this mess...( swara for snatching and lakshya for not reciprocating...what crap of a logic is this...🤢 )..she needs to get a first hand taste of her own medicine and lakshya is surely going to do that only...oops looks like I again digressed...😛
Anxiously waiting for the next part...
cheers

Hey Kaku...🤗 🤗

You are absolutely welcome about the dedication, sweetheart! Your comments have been so motivating, really. Its been a privilege and pleasure to get your feedback.

I'd been to Egypt too, some years ago. Amazing place, I really loved the experience. The Pyramids, the temples at Luxor and Karnak, Abu Simbel...like you said, just breathtaking! I also had this experience with the camel drivers shouting "Amitabh Bachchan" to attract Indian tourists! 😆

I am in complete agreement with you about Karna. He was such a great man, and endured so many snide remarks and slights all his life. But yes, he did commit those 2 very grave sins, speaking in favor of Draupadi's horrendous, shameful treatment at the Kaurava court; and of course, the merciless, immoral slaughter of Abhimanyu. Probably that contributed to his end being in such an inglorious manner...

Thanks so much for those lovely words about the parallel between RP trying to protect his son, to Surya trying to forewarn Karna about Indra's intentions. But yes, as you said, Sanskaar, like Karna, decides to magnanimous and give his bade papa what he asks for, though he knows he request is unjustified and will harm him...

I was so very happy to know that you loved the SwaSan scene. I wanted to show them coming together with all the attendant tenderness, passion and togetherness of true soulmates. They were always meant to be, after all. 😳

I do feel that the show has done no justice whatsoever, in exploring the depth and strength of Ram Prasad's character. Like you said, I feel Sanskaar has inherited his solid grounding, his quiet strength and resilience from his own father.

And Durga Prasad---I used to think of him with such high regard. But after (in the serial), they showed him just handing over the family business, wealth and home to Ragini, under Dadi's manipulation, I started feeling that his perspective was really much narrower than I'd believed it to be. In an attempt to protect his wife, and indirectly Lakshya, he hung his brother's family out to dry, literally. Sanskaar became a total bakra here, poor guy had merged his firm, which he had built with his blood, sweat, toil and tears; with his paapa and bade papa's firm. And within days, his bade papa coolly hands over his share also to Ragini!! He had absolutely no right to do so.

And then of course (on the show), they showed his antic of deceiving Swara to sign those blasted divorce papers. From then on, I really did start feeling that he has feet of clay, and is not such a venerable personality as I initially believed.

So in this OS series, I have garbed him in definite gray shades! 😊 I do feel he is perfectly capable of doing this---asking Sanskaar to hand over his share to Ragini, to prevent his past sordid affair from coming to light. Durga feels remorse, of course, but he doesn't want his aura, his image in his family's eyes, to diminish.

Kaku, you got Ragini's pulse so correctly there. She is a formidable antagonist, and is cunning enough to identify the weakness of her opponents. She knows just where to strike! If only she had pout this sense to good use...she could have rediscovered the inherent goodness within herself long ago. But somehow she is still caught up in her obsession to settle imaginary scores, avenge imaginary wrongs she feels have been inflicted on her!

As to who enters the study in the end, I shall reveal all in the final part, hope to post it over the weekend. But I shall tell you what Remus Lupin told Harry Potter: " Your instincts are good, and usually right!" 😉
