Firstly, thanks so much, sweetie, for dedicating this chapter to me. I credit my discovery of SK's color blindness, entirely to my obsession with this SS. You have really unleashed a suspense thriller of vintage quality here. 😊
Saku, this chapter spoke to the mother in me. And what a brilliant portrayal of Annapurna you've given us here. 👏 It should be so easy to dislike her, hate her even for back stabbing the son after her own heart, the child who had adored and venerated her. But then you tell us how bereft she felt when he left, how she had longed for him to come back, agonizing over the part of her own self, that she had wrenched and thrown away.
It would take someone of stone not to feel for her just a little bit, and I must admit, I shed a tear or two, for both of them--Sanskaar, most of all, but for Annapurna, too. I can't begin to imagine what Sanskaar must have gone through--the mother he so loved and trusted, had betrayed him, all in the name of supposed family honor. And to cap it all, he had to discover he wasn't even her biological son at all. Somewhere, he must have felt---had he been her own blood, had been Lakshya, would she have done the same?
And you know the brilliance of your portrayal, Saku---while for the serial Annapurna, I would have answered "not in a million years"; the Annapurna you have woven in your tale, I do feel, loved Sanskaar just as much, if not more, than Lakshya. He was the child of her heart, though not of her womb. I do firmly believe, that though blood is thicker than water, there are certain ties of the soul, that go deeper than both.
It must have killed Annapurna inside to do that to Sanskaar. But she felt she owed it to her husband, towards whom (SK has told us earlier), she felt obligated for something. Why is that, BTW? Will that reason come out in subsequent chapters? It was Durga Prasad who had a premarital liaison isn't it? Did Annapurna feel obliged to him for having agreed to marry her?
The scene in Maheshwari House after Sanskaar makes his grand entry was brilliant. The taut and tense encounter with Durga Prasad, whom he worsts by coolly stating that he knows very well, the home is his, left to him by his Grandfather! And that brief SanGini cat and mouse interaction had me grinning away in merriment. "Kush Raho, as long as you can!!" Brilliant! 😆
The closing scene with Sanskaar conversing with Swara was great too. I liked the matter of fact way he declares his love "What could I do when they sent the woman I love behind bars". 😉 Hardly what one would call a conventional declaration of love, but it seems to really fit SK & Casper. 😊 And I just loved the banter, too.

So now we know the whole tale of the previous case, and how Durga Prasad manipulated his way to victory, getting his own son's fiancee bumped off in the process. For him its not just an ego tussle, he wants to hurt Sanskaar, see him suffer in the agony of broken dreams, a broken heart. My God---how can any father be so evil? He makes Shekar look angelic in comparison.
Casper and SK really are soulmates in that sense--having undergone much of the same pain, the same emotional deprivation while growing up. And only they can now heal each other, provide succor to each other.
I am very tantalized by the mehndi clue, Saku. 😛 Poring over all the previous chapters now!
