So, you are working now di?
I was not a member of mb forum so curious to know what you all refer to as andhe ka putra andha. It seems to be a hot topic everywhere. I am guessing is it that instance when dury -dushasan-shakuni stay back at indraprastha and during that time shakuni bangs his head on the wall thinking it to be a door and dury fell into the water thinking it to be a glass floor? And all the pandavas laugh and maybe that time drau calls him this or something like that? Just a wild guess though i am sure no such thing happened in the epic. And if you think i am breaking any rules, i will remove the contents.

Yes I am an IT professional.

Yes...it is precisely that part.
But the only twist here is...in the scene Draupadi neither laughs nor says ANYTHING.
There are two versions of the story...

One where Duryodhan actually falls. In this part Draupadi's name is not even mentioned.

Another version is when Duryodhan goes back to Hastinapur n tells everything to his father.
There he mentions that Bhima n Arjun had laughed at him n Draupadi had joined the laughter with other females. So as per Duryodhan Draupadi had laughed at her...although in the actual incident, she is not mentioned.

Now here...another twist was added. In order to sensationalize this incident, a fictional dialogue was added. Draupadi while laughing had apparently uttered 'Andha Ka Putra Andha hota hain'.
This dialogue spread like wildfire...n many novelists n so-called scholars began adopting it in their novels n shows...n thus a new rumour began that the war took place bcoz Draupadi had said this dialogue to Duryodhan. But the truth is...this dialogue is NOT there in ANY version...

I tried to search a lot for the source of this dialogue...I had heard of many sources...some said it was introduced in a play named 'Urubhangan'...some said it was written by some 18th Century playwright.

But recently I got in touch with one of the old n a very well- read member of Mahabharat forum...Nidhi.
She told me that there was a play named 'Andha Yug' which was written by a playwright Dharmveer Bharti n it was published in times weekly. In this play...Lord Krishna had said this dialogue to Duryodhan during his death. But later on...BR Chopra probably got hold of this dialogue n used it in his serial n made Draupadi say it.
Thus Draupadi became a bigger vamp in the eyes of the general public than she already was...n this dialogue became the gospel truth...although in truth it was promoted by BR Chopra...n a lie.

Some small Bhopal based lawyer had filed a PIL against BR Chopra for maligning Draupadi but it was completely dismissed...obviously BR Chopra being such a powerful name.
This news was published on rediff but was removed...maybe the same power ruled it.

So far...this is wat I know.
So far...the culprit is BR Chopra...

I'll share the citation from KMG shortly.
Someone who has CE can share the same citation from CE...n if possible with Sanskrit shlokas...
I guess Lakshmi can help...😊

@Amrita di-Wow! So you are an IT professional? I am also doing btech computer science presently.
I was pretty sure, draupadi was not mentioned there but after reading your comment, i went through my mahabharat (an english translation). I found that in the first instance where dury falls, only the pandavas are mentioned laughing at this. In the second one where he banged his head against the wall, nakula and sahadeva are present, remarking that the door is ahead. Also when dury talks to his father, he talks about the vast riches owned by the pandavas, and how he has become weak because of that and his jealousy. So basically drau is no where involved!
After reading your post, i feel that you have done a lot of research into this ,which is commendable. So going by your views, BR chopra is the culprit indeed. Bhopal based lawyer filing a PIL against him, hmm interesting.
Dury in fact lusted upon panchali and that is precisely why he ,shakuni and karna coaxed yudi to lay a bet on draupadi. They were not driven by any vindictive motives to avenge their insults, for sure with an exception for karna of course. Karna at this instance was gravely wrong and this is one of the reasons why i can't bring myself about to like karna. So draupadi was just a victim of statecraft. She was to some extent a cause of mahabharat but we cannot blame her entirely. And to that extent where she was a cause, it was not a deliberate cause but a one driven by her helplessness, her sorrows and at the cost of her honour, a woman's honour.

Thanks Ramya.
This laughter of Draupadi is most probably interpolation.

Now coming to the war...well dear I too had similar views before.
I believed that she was the cause...that she was a victim...etc etc...but as u read, u will realize that half of the things are just superficial stuff.

The actual reason behind war was far more political..
Even the Vastraharan is most probably an interpolation...something which took me A LOT of time to accept. I am not sure about anything...but I have read a few articles n even we have had intense discussions earlier on this...Much of the DS is added later...but how much, that is debatable.

VH an interpolation?😲 That is impossible! VH and DS are one of the most important parts of mahabharata. It was only in DS after VH that bheema took the oaths to tear dushansan's chest and drink his blood and break dury's thighs as he constantly signaled drau to sit on his thighs ,which is a clear sign of his lust and all the other oaths too which lead to the war.
But if you have said this after so much of debate then maybe you are right.
