personally i'm a huge Arjun fan. and as Arjun is the hero of the Mahabharata then karn can only be describe as the tragic anti hero of the epic. even though he hanged out with the villains of the epic, i never believed he was truly bad. like just dealt him a bad set of cards, but he made all the wrong choices.
if he had made friends with the pandavas, karna would have actually been a greater hero than Arjun.
but alas is bad fate. Arjun rose on every level.
i wish the producers had told Arjuna's story instead, they wouldn't have had to make up so much of the story.
Arjuns achievements, struggles and life is well documented in our folklore in so many different regions of our country.
Actually, Arjun's achievements are overrated by modern mytho CVs, who know little about the epic and make up stuff out of thin air.
Like in this serial, just like in ⭐️B, Arjun is shown as a born archer & champion, which is bakwas. When the Pandavas were kids, Arjun was about as innocent as Nakul or Sahadev, and it was really Bhima who protected them from the Kauravas. It wasn't until at Drona's gurukul that Arjun started to shine on his own.

This show is not that popular due to the bad story telling by the makers, not because Karna's story is not well-documented. Karna is still the most written/talked about character from Mahabharata (Excluding Krishna obviously).
It is the show which is poorly made not Karna's lack of story.
This serial might more appropriately have been called 'Kuntiputra Karna' rather than Suryaputra, since it embellishes Kunti's behavior in toto and creates imaginary enmity b/w Karna & Dury. Not just that, it villifies all the perceived or real 'rivals' of Kunti's mamata - both Radha and Madri. Radha was depicted as an evil stepmom who only started loving Karna after he saved her life, while Madri, who in real live was never a villain, was depicted as insulting Karna as a sutaputra in the imaginary encounter that Karna had w/ Pandu.
Given what they have changed in this story, if they
do show Karna as joining Dury, then that would blacken Karna's reputation in
this serial. In the real MB, Karna was driven into the arms of Dury since the Pandavas took the initiative in insulting him w/o any real provocation. In this serial, Karna is loved by both Kunti and Pandu, so if he turns against the Pandavas, he'll look at best as another Shalya, and at worst as an ingrate. Totally wreaking havoc on his reputation.
This serial might as well show Karna as joining the Pandavas and fighting for their rights against Bheeshma & Dury, instead of his usual role as one of the members of Dury's coterie.
