Performance Discussion 18 and 19 June 2022

Saturday 18 June

Samaira and Arunita. Samaira did really better than her previous performances. But her voice is still a little nasal or perhaps baby-ish for me.

Rituraj. Continues to excel. I liked all the variations he captured.

Rohan. He sings well, and he does good drama also.

Pratyush. Somehow his performances never click for me.

Sayisha with Sayli. So the song from my wishlist (achchha ji main haari) did come but with wrong singers 😄. But my word! Sayisha seemed to be at the same level if proficiency as Sayli. This girl is one to watch out for!

Pranjal. In case you forgot this is the boat song guy, there is a boat emblem right on his left chest. And in case you didn't notice that, there are 4 more on the right side near his waist 😄. Coming to his performance. Technically sound but not suitable to these lyrics. This song was sung in a particular way to capture the essence of the lyrics - doing anything else doesn't suit it. I blame TCT for this more than this kid.

Mani. Well, so they found a way to force-fit a song of his genre. He did well but it's his genre. Looking forward to tomorrow when he is going to sing a different song

Aryananda with Pawandeep. She is technically very sound but needs to address the nasal tones and diction. She was especially good in the antara of the first song - no nasality. In the second song also she was very good in several places. Maybe she needs proper guidance to address this problem. Once again it seems TCT not doing their job properly.

Soyab and Chetanya with Salman. Good overall, both sticking to their strengths.

Vishwaja. I think she needs to do more solos and stop singing with Sayli. She was so much better today! She did really well.

Thanfully nothing today to embarass Arunita and Pawandeep. They are hounded enough by us fans - no need to rub it in on national TV.

Pawandeep and Arunita's singing - what more can be said. They are just superlative. It was instructive to see Zeenat Aman call them out as well. Also, so many of today's songs had been sung by Arunita on Idol and it was impossible to not think back to her rendition - that is the impact she had made!

Why some of the kids get to sing both days and some don’t. Just like Sayantini and Harshita will we be able to see Sayisha singing solo apart from her first and second audition only time she sang solo was Anandji epsiode this is just unfair to some kids.

This has started to become very noticeable. Mani is singing two solos this week Pranjal too. Plus Rituraj and Pratyush. These four have been performing twice recently. Faiz got that opportunity few times, but now he's also on bench. Interestingly enough, none of the girls get to sing twice

As for today - I enjoyed the episode much more than I thought. The song selection was pretty good. Familiar ones even for me.

I think I love Samaira's voice the most among the girls. She sang really well without getting overshadowed by Arunita.

Rohan was just okayish. I would like to see some variations in his song choices. At this point he just feels like a filler in the show. A kid with a good voice who does playacting. With proper training and song selection, he could've done so much more.

Wasn't familiar with Rituraj's song, so couldn't connect much. I thought he was comparatively weaker than previous weeks. Couldn't get his voice modulation tbh, but that just seems to be me

Enjoyed Pratyush - he did justice to the song even though I'm not a fan of his voice. Sounds to me like he sings from his nose coz his speaking voice is fine.

Sayli-Sayisha was nice. Never seen a 7 yo sing with such control and precision.

No idea about the song Pranjal sang, it sounded just like a usual Pranjal song. I enjoy whenever he performs but can't even distinguish his performances from each week because they all sound similar to me. Only his first audition and Taare Zameen Par have been memorable. Also, can they please stop treating him like he's the new avatar of god? These things affect kids a lot.

So Mani not only sings two solos, but also goes out of theme with an obviously scripted request? 🤪 I liked the performance tho, with the usual complaints - why so many high notes? And his low notes are barely audible. Still I think he is easily one of the best singers in the show who can sing any type of songs.

I don't like Aryananda's voice and don't like her singing style either 🤪 She sounds too feeble for someone who's putting in a lot of effort. If someone has seen her previous shows, is there any difference? Coz I honestly can't understand the hype, or even see how she could win a show. Another thing I notice with her and Rituraj - they don't seem to sing openly. Maybe it’s the language barrier, but I haven't seen any South Indians so restrained in their singing of hindi songs.

Salman-Soyeb-Chetanya. This felt like a one-man-show with all the focus on Chetanya 🤪 It was pretty cordinated. But Soyeb didn't get to sing much and I didn't even hear Salman until he took over towards the end. Can't say I enjoyed tbh, bas ek kaan se sun li doosre se nikal gaya.

Vishwaja did really well. But I felt her voice didn't suit the song. The essence of the original song was missing for me.

I'm not a fan of high-pitched voice in general, so I'm not really big on Arunita, but she's a great singer. Her two second interruption during Javed's Abhi Na Jaao Chodkar was honestly the best singing on the episode today 😆 Also loved hearing her and Samaira in the ad segment.

Btw, why was Zeenat Aman so hyper today? Can't the TCT give a script that lets the guests act normal? Tomorrow seems to be crazier from the promos with all three of them looking like they're high on something 🤣

Liked the concept of captains singing with kids of other teams. 👍

Samaira - Arunita :- superb. Though Samaria’s voice is still childish, I loved the voice modulations. She was able to hold on her own with a singer like Aru, and that’s saying a lot. Aru was … well aru. 👌👌👌. Nothing more need to be said. ♥️ This never used to be my fav song till Aru took it to a different level in Idol. 💕

Rituraj - as usual - consistent. Well-sung. But somehow I felt this was not one of his best. It had an overall hurried feel. Maybe the pace should’ve been a tad slower? But his Khoya Khoya variations were 👍

Rohan - our entertainer. His flaws in singing is becoming more apparent. Playacting is fine, but the child needs to focus more on singing. Very average yest.

Pratyush -another average fare.

Sayisha - Sayli :- Sayisha was superb. The way she grasps & brings out the feel of the song is amazing for a 7 year old! 👍👌

Pranjal :- our boat guy. What’s the need to have a Bengali prelude with EVERY song??? Phoolon ke rang se is vintage Dev Anand/ Kishore Kumar. The song should not be tempered , or rather tampered with extra tadka. 😡. And even with this tadka, he couldn’t capture the essence of the song. This is a romantic number , with a soft floating feel of being in love. He was stressing on certain notes to infuse some unwarranted intensity! He lost it for me. The trainers to be blamed more for this.
Mani - in his comfort zone. Did well. No surprises.
Arya-pawan :- never been an Arya fan. But first time I sort of liked her performance. Maybe it was the added attraction of Pawan that made me enjoy the song. Pawan was 👍

Salman- Soheb- Chaitanya.:- Didn’t like Chaitanya’s parts at all. The gulf between him and Soheb was so obvious, though Soheb got to sing only towards the end.
vishwaja - decent. But there is this feeling of intrigue which was missing in her rendition. I think she was holding back a bit - should’ve sung more khulke .
Asides….

* So Baba gifts his Vastra & Kadhau to Pranjal! That poor boy is already saddled with the Duitaara that has become an extra body part thanks to the TCT sponsored Fakir. Now this vastra & kadhau too. Honestly, kya kya leke ghoomega woh? Pl … he is a kid.. let him be…🙏😳. He should request HR to compose a song ‘ mujhse mera bachpan mat cheen le’…. 🤣🤣

* Baba came with extra vastra & kadhau and in the process forgot to get the gas cylinder 🤣🤣

* Loved Javed Ali’s ‘abhi na jao’ with Aru in the end. Wish she had joined him as a duet. Or was it bad editing again? I so so badly want a pawan -Aru duet on this sometime🤗
* Aru - samaira ad was the best of byju’s so far. Even here Aru scores.👍👌 Whichever song she starts - the first line leaves us hankering for more - we don’t want her to stop. 👌👌. Such is the pull of this girl.

I try and stay away from discussing Captains in this show, but had to add that I completely agree about the 2 seconds. The 'thaherao' was sublime.

Two things here about that 1 line.

One - she took the whole episode up a notch with that 1 line.

Two - watching Javed Ali was hilarious. He was going on in his usual style with a lot of pomp and show as if he is Mohd Rafi personified. And then when Arunita stepped in to show him "this is how it's done, beta" he was totally in shock! "What just happened to me? I was strutting along shouting about a 87 m throw and here comes Neeraj Chopra and shatters my pride with an 89 m thrown" 😄😄😄

You expressed what I felt pretty hilariously 🤣

I guess Javed is a good singer but whenever he has sung on the show, he has been less than impressive. Maybe watching the kids do so well increases our standards.

Especially yesterday, I was like, how can you murder such a good song like that Kudos to Anu for taking pity and saving him from embarrassment 🤣

But at least Javed sings better than Himesh 🤪

My 2 cents worth on Saturday performance:

I think they announced that todays performances will not be graded. No competition today or something like that but they did give the Duniya hiladi (DHD) stamps. Wonder if there will be medals and elimination on Sunday.

Samira and Arunita: I loved this performance. Definitely Samiara’s best so far. She stood out in her performance and didn’t let Arunita overshadow her. I think so far of all Aru’s duets with the kids, Samira did the best. I liked her take on the song and her kiddish voice suited it.
Since it’s a kid show I do have a bias towards the younger kids 😊

Rituraj: I think this was his weakest performance. I personally did not like it.

Rohan; An entertainer as always. I like how he feels all the lyrics and sings. I liked it and if it was up to me, I would give him the DHD stamp.

Pratyush: Looking forward to the day they stop making these horrible dishes and presenting to guests! He is obviously not the one making those dishes. And please put him in some normal clothes!!! As far as singing goes, he is still on the bottom of my list and even though he sings in tune, I am not a fan of his style of singing.

Sayisha and Sayli: I love the confidence in this girl. She makes the song her own and sings it lovingly. Becoming my favorite with each episode 😊

Pranjal: He sings well and has a unique style but it is becoming repetitive. He sings all the songs the same way. And TCT, please stop making him into a godman! He is a kid. Let him be and enjoy.

Mani: He sang out of syllabus and TCT made it to sound like it’s Zeenat’s request! But personally, Jiya Dhadak Dhadak is one of my favorites and for me he did not do justice to the song. So ‘not up-to par’ in my books on this song!

Aryananda and Pawandeep: Today for the first time I liked her in parts of the song. I think if she gets a few more duets with Pawan or gets solo songs she can do better. I almost thought she did better in the duet than him 😊. I feel sometimes that in the duets with kids, Pawan downplays and let’s the kids shine. Not sure if even that’s a thing! 😃

Soyab, Chaitanya and Salman: What was that!!! It felt like Chaitanya sang majority of the song and Soyab was barley there. It is evident that Soyab is far better singer but somehow I am beginning to feel Chaitanya does have some clout with TCT. He seems to be getting more attention and protection. I maybe wrong. Let’s see. If he stays to top 5 then I will be convinced of my notion 😃.

Vishwaja : Overall good.

I wish the dress designing team also does some mix and match and change everyone’s dress style - contestants and captains!!! I sometimes feel like they give them the same clothes in different colors or change a bit of the same outfit for the next episodes.
