I think demon blood will be boring to be honest. It doesn't cause much friction like completing the trials. Personally I don't trust the writers. They are way beyond pathetic when they have to handle Sam's character. No justification for anything. Kripke era was different. Even at Sam's darkest u could understand him. There was a whole epi that went through Sam's point of view of why he wants the demon blood. I m sure nobody will care now to do such a story. Which will end up making Sam ten times worse than what he is. I would rather have them deal with the trials.
It causes a great amount of friction between the brothers. While Sam would want to go to any lengths to save Dean with the trials. Dean will equally stand as an obstacle preventing him from doing so. It will be interesting then to see who wins.
