The CW's Supernatural spinoff has found two of its leads: Aussie actor Nathaniel Buzolic (who played Klaus' brother Kol on The Vampire Diaries last season) and British actor Lucien Laviscount (Skins, Coronation Street) have been cast in key roles in the Chicago-based Tribes.
Laviscount will play series regular Ennis Roth, a police academy trainee whose fiance is killed in the crossfire of the monster war. Roth "learns the truth about what lurks in the shadows and becomes a monster-hunter himself."
Buzolic has landed the series regular role of David Hayden, a shapeshifter from one of Chicago's ruling monster families who has been living as a human, "having given up the monster life years ago."
While these characters are two leads on the show, we hear Tribes plays more like an ensemble drama compared to the flagship series, so there are other important roles yet to be filled. Tribes is described as a "sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly-to-humans run' the underbelly of Chicago and who are being tracked by a newly-minted Hunter who's trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural." The project from writer-producer Andrew Dabb will debut its pilot as an embedded episode of Supernatural on April 29.
