@Apu I think u getting fans wrong here. But I dnt knw whether I am going to make much sense bt I am going to try. They dnt have a problem with suhani being a darker skin tone. bt what I think they have a problem with is the fact that she made deliberately dark and an unnatural dark so that she doesn't look nice. And I am not saying that dark is bad bt they making her look bad so it seems that she aint good enough for yuvraj. Now I know u would have a problem with that part coz why if some1 is dark can they not match up to some1 who is fair. Bt why unnatural why cnt they get a foundation that would suit suhani plus make her look normal as well? Are these channels not saying making it seem as if coz she is dark that she isn't good enough? And now I got another problem why is it that coz suhani is supposed to be ordinary looking and simply dressed she cnt be a beauty queen and why coz she is ordinary looking does should she not be noticeable. is there nothing else in a persons face besides the color of their skin? What about highlighting a person eyes, their lips, their cheek bones. There is no such thing as an ordinary looking person we all have something on our face which is striking. In these serials its normally a persons eyes that the focus is on her they dnt even want to use that for suhani. Rajshri has nice eyes, nice lips(which are never highlighted), nice cheek bones. Whatever they do to her ppl will always see suhani as beautiful. I dnt really knw what sort of dark is dark though and would be acceptable and would be a true reflection of a truly dark person.

@bold- Sandi u nailed it ditto my thoughts . i love her eyes, her lips, her hair and they dont highlight any of it. NONE OF IT. I want those gorgeous eyelashes brought out, i want mascara i want her to lower her gaze and for everyone to faint bec she has those eyelashes ppl envy and use fake ones to compensate with...she has lovely lips...cant she be given a gloss to match her outfit?

I don't even know WHAT to say anymore! This is how she looks like on THEIR Hotstar page!
First they should start by photoshopping this picture into the colour THEY want!

Unfortunately for them, all their attempts to tamper her would go POOF once she smiles her radiant smile...

I am not sure what should offend me more that a dark skinned girl is considered ugly or the fact that a person is considered beautiful only if they paste their features with make-up.
Why can't people just look past skin tones? Why is a woman only considered beautiful if she is fair and adorned herself with pasty make-up?
Suhani is supposed to be a simple girl who doesn't care about all that in my opinion.
I agree that Star Plus should have cast a girl with the required features for the show instead of using "Blackface" propaganda and contribute to the proliferation of stereotypes. Disgusting

fmddv:

It's a reverse/ exact opposite of 'fair & lovely' ads that's happening here. I don't approve of defending or promoting either skin tones... whatever it is you are blessed with, you ought to take care of it... Suhani is what most Indian girls are... brown... of the darker shade. [To think that this is actually the tan westerners DIE for] What is the point of making her either more fair or more dark? Why can't they just let her original skin tone be? If at all they want to bring out 'saawli' complexion...then they should've stuck to it all along... why suddenly make her dark conveniently when the love story started? Why playing around with her looks?

It is NOT about accepting or rejecting a skin tone, it is about Tampering with what a person already has... isn't it defeating the whole purpose of what they are trying to show?!

. no its not about her being made to look fairer why cnt suhani complexion be just left alone? She looks dark and lovely as she is. Is some1 going to say with the way she currently looks that she is looking to fair? she just looked natural and that makes her look beautiful. I for 1 would rather they left her face alone if they were going to pasta polish and shit on her face. Dnt put makeup on her if that's the case just keep her as is and put gloss on her lips and it would be fine. And really fans have been watching for months now if they had a problem with suhani's skin colour they would have stopped watching a long time ago. Coz they only started giving yuvraj for the last month and a half other the rest of the time every1 thought snoopy the awful dog was the lead. And really no1 was watching for snaky the awful pest so we all watched for suhani we didn't have a problem with her being dark then and we dnt now. Its just why always change her skin tone when there is a special occasion and make her darker looking and then the next day they go back to her normal complexion. That's the problem. And the other problem is that the makeup artist are street beggars. Our whole team has been gotten of the street the production house wanted to save costs so they found random ppl outside their office and hired them lol.

LOL...it's ridiculous and ironic, isn't it? Westerners (i.e. Caucasians with the lightest shades of skin tone) consider their own paleness and lack of pigment in their skin quite unattractive and spend thousands of dollars on tanning salon visits, tanning lotions/creams/sprays and what not, and even go as far as risking skin cancer by spending hours being baked under harsh sunlight, just to achieve a darker complexion.
And at the other end of this spectrum, in our part of the world, we waste our precious money on useless, chemical-laden fairness creams, chemical peels and laser treatments, bleaching, pills and other crazy methods, in order to achieve an unnatural lightening of our complexion.
I guess humans, by nature...are very ungrateful and always fail to realize the value of everything God has gifted them with. People of ALL shades...white, yellow, red, brown, black...are beautiful, because God's creation can never be imperfect or flawed. So who are we to criticize/bash/degrade persons of particular ethnicities or skin tone?
It'll take a while for mankind in general to release themselves from this foolish, narrow and disgusting mindset. The media isn't helping either...perpetuating false standards of beauty and spreading propaganda which only seems to favor certain races over others. This vicious cycle has been going on for hundreds of years now...we can only pray that the future generations to come will not have to be victims of this stupendous ideology.

BTW, just wanted to mention that all of you who replied with posts to this thread are just SO darn intelligent and have an awesome sense of humor! 😉
Some of your comments are just a riot and I was ROFLing🤣 while reading them, while you guys also didn't shy away from pointing out the darker, more serious social issues that this seemingly innocent action of manipulating an actresses' natural complexion with makeup, can contribute to.😒
I absolutely agree with those who said that casting a naturally dark actress would have been a wiser move, rather than trying to shape the audiences' perception of Suhani as a character, by toying indecisively with Rajshri's makeup. We are not gullible children, we are not blind...so the production team of SSEL better not expect us to just happily tag along with whatever type of crap they throw @ us. 😡

I think directly tweeting/messaging Mr. Tripathe about this issue would be better, since he is the conceptual creator of this show and he comes up with/finalizes the content of upcoming, future tracks and storylines.

Contacting SP wouldn't have much impact, imo...cause they have other, more popular shows to deal with and such an issue wouldn't be given its due importance by the higher-ups...we've clearly seen how bad they are sometimes @ portraying sensitive ideas/concepts on TV. 👎🏼
