I'm pretty sure that IF (like most other current internet websites) would've definitely checked the feasibility of a premium version.

More convenient to make money off a premium version than subject everyone to intrusive ads.

But the core userbase of this forum (college going folks and middle-aged housewives), with all due respect to them, aren't really a paying segment. 10 years ago, there would've been ZERO chance of this; today it's slightly better with the introduction of UPI, but there's still a long way to go.

Plus the privacy part of the site gets into a bit of a grey area if you do a premium version- you'll have the real names and other personally identifiable data of every user.

You remember we had gif icons? People will put so many siggies in their dabba. And those tower quotes haha it was amazing. So many people will quote replies and it would be so much fun.

That format was perfect, all we needed was notification bar like we have now and maybe a Facebook type chat option. That's it. Now too much tinkering and none is happy. What's the point when your userbase isn't satisfied? For whom do you even update this site?
