What should happen in this not-so-hypothetical situation? Earlier discussion did not identify whom to contact about it.
Member A created a private forum, and made Member B a Manager, but neither of them ever posted a topic or reply in it. All four topics in that private forum were started by Member C. One or two replies came from each of three other members, of whom Member D is a Moderator in public forums.
Member E sent a Join Request around November 3, and no one accepted it. Wanting to make a detailed post about the subject for which the private forum exists, she sent a PM to Member C, asking for information on the subject. Member C replied with a link to his topic in the private forum that contained the information. Member E explained her difficulty and asked Member C to accept her into the private forum, and he forwarded her request by PM to both Member A and Member B on November 6 (according to their time zones).
Although Member A and Member B have "visited" India Forums every day since then (up to November 8 in their time zones), they have not opened Member C's PMs or accepted the Join Request from Member E.
Member E, who joined India Forums almost two years ago but remains a Newbie with 1 post and 0 comments, has finally found a subject that she wants to discuss, but India Forums is losing out on her participation due to the setup of private forums.
Solution 1. Should nothing be done, recognizing the autonomy of Members A and B to exclude anyone from their private forum and to choose which PMs they read?
Solution 2. Who has authority to decide that the private forum is "abandoned" by its Creator and Manager, and at what point? Would the forum be archived, or would Member C be considered to take over, or would Member D be preferred because she is already a Moderator?
Solution 3. Since Member C is the Creator of another private forum with a broader subject, where the same topics could be discussed, and where Members B, D, and E are members, could the two private forums be merged? To whom would the request be made?
