The choices for Genre tags in the Fan Fiction section don't exactly match the list of genre definitions (which is also a Help Center post). Consistency across these three pages would help authors to choose tags.
"LGBTQIA" has a genre definition but no genre tag. There is a user-defined LGBTQ+ tag. Would it be possible for you to turn it into a genre tag for all of the stories that use it? Then authors would have an easier time finding the tag.
"Romance" and "Love Story" and "Love Triangle" are different tags, but only "Romance" has a definition. (I have been using "Romance" when the story is about sexual attraction and "Love Story" when it is about affection, including friendship, family etc.) "Historical Romance" has a definition but no tag, while the definition for "Mythology" encompasses the "Mythological" and "Historical" tags.
"Thriller" and "Suspense" are different tags, but they have the same definition. "Psychological Thrill" and "Action" and "Political" and "News" and "War" are tags without definitions.
"Family" and "Family Drama" are different tags, both without definitions, while the "Social" tag matches the "Contemporary" definition.
What is the purpose of the "Adult" genre tag? Are authors expected to put this tag on every story that is marked Mature? Or, was "Adult" supposed to be a "Young Adult" tag - a genre that has a definition?
The list of genre definitions includes "BDSM" and "Erotic" and doesn't mark any genre as prohibited on India Forums, so the availability of "Adult" as a genre tag gives the impression that BDSM and Erotic content is allowed.
The Fan Fiction's official Rules: Mature Content is only a link to a Help Center post that allows "subtle intimate scenes" under the Mature Content label, but advises: "Using The 18+/Mature Content Label -> NO! Just don't post mature content on the forum and you won't need the warning."
This wording creates confusion by referring to allowed and prohibited scenes by the same term, "mature content."
Clearer advice would be: "Using The 18+/Mature Content Label for Graphic Content -> NO! Just don't post graphic content on the forum and you won't need the warning meant for subtle content."
