New Feature: Link Preview on Forum Posts

Hi,

I am excited to announce that we have enabled Link Preview feature for Forum Posts.

Members will continue to share the links as they used to and we will automatically replace the URL with the details of the link. The same way how we have social links embedding feature.

However in order to prevent certain users from slowing down the page we have restricted this to posts which has less than or equal to 3 links in a post. If link count is higher than that we will disable the embedding feature on that post.

This is currently implemented in new posts only. But if you go and edit your old post it will start working.

Since its a new feature we are monitoring how it does and later we can work on ways how we can update older forum posts too.

This feature will definitely make threads more readable along with reducing the need to migrate out of the site for every bit of news! 😃

If possible, please do something about embedding Google docs / spreadsheets too. It would be really helpful to embed tables in our posts for Indices, Birthday calendars, etc.

Great feature, much needed and saves time, can give a glimpse of the article right away very helpful instead of going back and forth! And members wouldn’t need to post the articles from other sites to discuss just link would do it.
