Browsing through mobile takes a hell lot of time even when I turn off the avatar & siggy option. In India, we do not have much exposure to 3G & 3GS. We neither have enough WiFi Spots to browse ! My connection gives me a speed of 111 kbps/sec.

Can we please have a Mobile version of IF just to reply & open new topics in forum and nothing else. Or an application for different phones like Blog sites & Facebook offers ?

Mobile sites are good yes as they are much needed when speeds are low, but just look at how many sections there are on IF and how difficult it would be to turn IF into a mobile site.

However, there are some solutions to this. There are many websites which offer to turn any site into a mobile version which you can add onto bookmarks/favourites on your mobile.

For example you can use google mobile optimizer to make IF mobile friendly: http://www.google.com/gwt/n

There are other websites that make sites mobile friendly... just do a simple google search.

Mitesh, my browser safari allows me to browse IF really well. Just that I don't have access to good speed :)
Not turning IF into a mobile site, but when accessed through mobile i wish some features are disabled.
For Eg : All these jaavscripts, avatars & signatures , profile, PM's etc. It should be only open topics and reply.

Yeah I use safari too. And IF works quite well on there. I have 3G and wireless hotspots which you in India lack.

..but when it comes to speed a mobile version like the one I suggested would help a lot. When google converts IF into a mobile site it removes a lot of the images and extra links that slow the page when loading. So it would still help.

Like you said, I wish we had the option to turn certain bits off. This would help a lot, but I am sure Vijay is contemplating making a mobile version for IF. There are some forums I visit which have successfully made a mobile template and like facebook for example you can switch from the "mobile version" to the "full version."

At this point just hold tight and I am sure sooner or later we will hear the news that many of us are eagerly waiting.

Hey all,

As you all are aware we are at the moment optimizing the page speed which I am sure will boost the Mobile users who surf IF from their mobile will get much much better speed.

Once we are able to successfully deploy that we would start work on the Mobile version which will further try to reduce the page size and make it more efficient for all kinds of mobile users.

Already you can access TellyBuzz by using: http://m.tellybuzz.com
