Sufiyana Pyaar Mera ~ My musings 4.5.19 PayBack time!

Contention once again surfaces between the two sisters. Whether love comes to fruition. as the desire of one’s heart? Or love also valued as prearranged by elders and created in a girlsheart? Both, cousins, accept the existence of the highest virtue that summarizesthe prime quality of the almighty. Both Sultanat and Kainat are devout Muslims in their own right. Both implement the teachingsof the scriptures in their own right. Both believe and are in awe of their god’sfair judgement. Kainat time and again rests her case of being rejected by a manon the basis of how she appears to the world at large, in god’s court.,

After watching the first scene between both sisters, it does make me wonder if Kainat in her words, puts the fear of god in Sultanat’s heart. or does Kainat remind Sultanat of how insensitively she has be wronged by Zaroon? How Zaroon , never gave her a chance , and just spurned her love aside! If the latter is the case, then it shows that despite the cold war, the distancebetween her and Sultanat , Kainat still expects sensitivity from her cousin sister. some miracle ,as Saltanat puts it before her.

Zaroon , I feelis an outsider, becomes a thorn in the side of both sisters. The pain that hecauses both Sultanat and Kainat , to me actually seems a positive step inbringing the two girls closer to each other. Kainat, despite the pain of herhumiliation, gets a chance to correct the opinion she has formed about Sultanat, that she snatched everything that Kainat desired for. Kainat , sees with herown eyes, that her cousin sister, boldly fights the battle of women left at themercy of man’s rejection and acceptance.

Zaroon, has to learn, that both these “Hindustani girls” as he refers to Sultanat and Kainat. One being progressive and his type. The other Kainat , traditional and certainly according to him incongruous to the image of what he deems to be in his life partner. So they may be, Chalk and cheese..but both are women of substance.

Zaroon is abruptly reminded by Sultanat, that the reason for her discarding her alliance with him, is similar to the reason he gave when he used his Islamic right as a man to reject Kainat! This surely gives his male ego a jolt. Especially as he got vibes from Saltanat that she too fancies him.

Whereas, Kainat silently clings to her faith. Abides by norms and traditions of family and her community. Saltanat loudly questions the treatment meted towards a man and woman in Islam. She queries about the disparity and parity between a man or woman especially over the right to choose one’s life partner. Mainjaan ‘s answer gives her the reason then, to exercise her right. As a women to accept or reject Zaroon as her future life partner! For Sultanat then is it pay back time on Kianat's behalf, by Saltanat, for rejecting Kainat as his would be wife before the whole family? Her no to accepting Zaroon, is not just about avenging her sister Kainat. It’s also about exposing those family members who term themselves as practicing Muslims, but really give more value and weight to the preferences and dislikes of a man!

Sultanat rebukes her mother Rubina too! who differentiates between society imposed connotations ofa man and woman right to refuse. in this case Sultanat turning down Zaroon’s marriage proposal. Sultanat was boldly assertive about her principles, that she’d rather follow, what her god wants her todo ,rather than bow down to the societal decadent issues of women denied theright to chose their husband.

Nadeem, who is nervous about the new responsibility he has asked for, shows much support, as a man for his daughter in her decision regards Zaroon

We see,how Sultanat’s action stirs a lot of uproar in both her and Zaroon’s families. One more time, the head which is the highest part of the human body, and symbolically marks a person’s pride of place is shown dropped in shame. Once more the cap of supremacy, victory is snatched off Mamoon Shah’s family,

Zaroon’s Sufiyana love is dented, as he himself removes the ceremonial groom’s head dress. The Mamoon ‘s see it as an insult launched by a woman! Mamoon protests Sultanat could have informed them of her sudden change of plan. Well! There is method in Sultanat’s madness!Zaroon used his powers of rejection publicly. They too could have spared Kainatthe humiliation before all, by a writtencorrespondence to Mainjaan .. but no! they didn’t! so this is all fair and square! ,

I loved it when Sultanat also confesses that it was her mother who bound her by holy oath that she has to accept Zaroon ‘s proposal. Sultanat confesses that her rejection may have hurt many, but she’d rather wrong and hurt people than hurt the god she follows. She speaks up for women's rights given in Islam.

The essence of smarting runs throughout the episode.. celebration turns sour. The first hurt is one received by Kainat ,for being the red letter and grooms clothes bearer. Almost patronisingly, Rubina presents her a bangle as a gift..gift for handing over Zaroon’s nuptial initiallybangle arranged for her, to her sister Sultanat..Sultanat watches, but feels her compliant sister Kainat’s hurt.

Mainjaan, too suffers the hurt of guilt, for his well meant effort, which yet again stands rejected by the almighty. Zainab too suffers pangs of guilt, by perhaps instigating up this stubborn storm, that refuses topass.

I also felt, that perhaps, Sultanat , rejects Zaroon , because she’d rather not accept, one passed off as a reject by Kainat.

The precap is noteworthy.. there is mention of the sighting of the moon, that heralds the comingof the holy month of Ramzan. Ramzan, which celebrates the communion between aperson and his/her god. Ramzan, where a person exercises discipline over the needs of the body and aspires for spiritua lfood. Ramzan where a person thinks of the less fortunate.

The moon poetically , is also equated with the lovers.. the silver orb is often used as a metaphor by the lover for the beauty of his beloved..

But in this case, the holy Ramzan moon is used by the trio, Zaroon, Sultanat Kainat as a witness to a lovers death, in case of a non-commitment of one’s Sufiyana love. Love as far as see it, creates, Gives life rather than takes it away. Love, bears all seasons. Love frees rather than binds. love gives rather than takes. Now let's see how this Sufiyana love progresses on…

This episode came as a surprise telecast for me! What a Saturday episode? hummm. The episode, had glamour, celebration, fulfilment of dreams, Sufiyana love and one more time, the tempering of high drama in the end. All ploys to keep the spectators hooked to the story. 5.5.19. hamlet53
