Friday's epi had this beautiful dialogue from Ram. Bhakthi and Andbhakthi. What does true Bhakthi means.
When I listen to MS Subbalakshmi's Bhaja Govindam everyday morning, before the song starts there is a dialogue which tells knowledge and Bhakthi are not different. You cannot have real Bhakti without knowledge. To have Bhakti, first you have to attain knowledge.
I have also read about through right knowledge comes right actions, through right actions come real bhakthi.
So gaining the right knowledge from a right teacher is the first step towards real Bhakti. If you look Arjuna the knowledge is granted to him in the form of BG which even we can access and if try can understand the meaning.
In true Bhakti even when you are fighting you are not fighting the person, you are only fighting the adharma in the person. You are fighting the adharmic action he or she has done. It is never personal, but mostly for a larger cause but arising through personal pain.
If you have real bhakthi which is attained through real knowledge you will be compassionate. You will not misle others. you will always try to understand other POV as much as possible. In fact if you have true Bhakti you are an embodiment of love. only love radiates from you and all your actions are borne out of love towards the supreme power obeying the supreme power's command. You don't fear the supreme power, nor do you expect any benefits from supreme power. You just go about doing one action as after another in line with what Supreme power wants. You will always thrive to make this world a better place. If we can attain atleast 5% of true bhakthi the changes in our society will be remarkable
Now what is Andbhakthi. Bhakthi with hearsay with no foundation of knowledge, Bhakthi that has been misled by people who wants to use you for their power structure. This and bhakthi is the cause of many social evils of today. Fear is used. Moh is used to trap people in Andbhakthi. This Bhakthi is destructive and to be frank have become the bane of modern society. When people does not understand why certain things are happening to them, instead of trying to understand they go around doing poojas and other things. But never get peace of mind. Some other kill and maim to prove their Bhakti.
But it is not bhakthi. If real bhakti is light, andbhakti is darkness. We need to learn to differentiate between bhakti and and bhakthi

True, di! Without the light of knowledge, find the correct path to the Supreme Lord, true bhakti. And most of humankind don't have the patience to learn the spiritual knowledge, they find shortcuts by doing poojas and havans.

Also, many people say a few minutes of silence and isolation are good for you, for you get time to introspect your soul. But, this doesn't mean outer isolation, it means being around people but still being detached, like Mahadev. Outer isolation makes you forget how to be human. And that is what happened to Tarini.

Shruthi i was sure that you would make a post on this. Bakthi or devotion kindles hope and positivity that good will prevail. Blind faith makes one surrender totally assuming that there is goodness in the one we repose trust and faith in. Young Tarani was in the process of discovery. He believed blindly in Vishnu and the promise of his father. Isolation can lead to Atmavichara or desolation. The captive child is excited to see his father and when he offers to build a temple for Vishnu is blinded and concludes that what his father presented to him of Rama was the whole truth.
When reasoning has not matured one blindly trusts and believes what one is told. Tarani is an example of this.

Shabari, Vidya yes physical isolation and lack of knowledge of worldly things make us trust what we see in front of us.
Detachment has to be to the mind, not to the body. But today everything happens in the physical realm, completely ignoring the psychological realm

Very beautifully put ! Clear distinction between Bakthi and Andhbakthi .
Tarani was a good example to understand this difference .
Knowledge sure is the light that gives us clear picture of the truth which leads or at times ignites the Bakthi in a person .
Infact it is often found that people with the right knowledge are people who are most humble, compassionate , always ready to help their fellow beings without any distinction of any sorts and so on . These are people who practice Bakthi in the true sense as they are serving the God in everything around without any prejudice. They are also ones who do not expect any return favours too !
Well, Andhbakthi is just the opposite in the sense , this arises due to half baked knowledge which is sought out through some shortcut methods in persuit of obtaining something .

Though there are stories of Prahalad and Dhruva who were rewarded at their tender ages for their Bakthi towards Narayan ( being the devotees in the enemy camp of narayan ), they had not stood by adharma whereas in case of tarani it was his support to adharma that resulted in his premature end .

The knowledge packed in Bagavad Gita is such that it seems like a reservoir which provides answers for anyone with any queries! It is for us to seek and benefit out it !

Bhajagovindam by M S is sure one of the masterpieces , Shruthi!
Always a divine voice that sets the atmosphere around to a divine mood too.

@vipraja Prahlad gets the knowledge of Narayan when he is mother's womb through Narad Maharishi. And Dhruva he is asked to please Narayan if he wants to sit in his father's lap.
So one had the knowledge from the right source and the other was a child's right that was denied to it. And to get that right, the child seeks Narayan.
But Tarini is influenced for wrong reasons and he believes by fighting Ram he can get Narayan. Yes he sees Narayan at the end
As a child this was one thing I had questioned. If you are doing pooja why should outer world affect you. if you are affected by outer world then your mind is not in your control. Use pooja as a medium to bring mind under control. Some people do that.
if you do pooja shouting at others what will you gain, will the pooja bear the fruit.

Absolutely !
The point that I regret is that most of the people don't get these knowledge at the right age ( rather younger ages).
Though , there is very little point in thinking about what has already been done ( a society of the day that is demoralised and damaged to a large extent ) it does feel sad when we discuss such points in the forum as to how actually beneficial such discussions , analysis etc could be for the youth today when it forms part of their curriculum!
Well , thanks to social media today which is atleast bringing together people with like minds to enable them to share their knowledge and spread the awareness in a better way !

@vipraja we cannot change everything. But one thing I am happy about is that many youngsters are reading these posts and I am happy that many have good knowledge and interest to pursue such things.
