This story is the basis for Lord Balaji/Venkateswara incarnation of Vishnu, which is mainly popular in the South. In my family, Venkateswara is the ishta dev.

When Bhrigu hits Vishnu's chest (in which Lakshmi resides), she gets angry at Vishnu when he forgives Bhrigu so easily, and she leaves Vaikunta. Vishnu follows her, pleading with her not to go, but Mahalakshmi leaves Vaikunta and comes to Earth. She goes to Karavirapur (present day Kolhapur) and does tapasya there. Later, she unites with Lord Vishnu in the form of Goddess Padmavathi, born to Akasa Raja.

There is also the story about the goddess in Kumbakonam.. kamala vaasini is Lakshmi reborn and Srimad Narayan searches for her on earth after she comes down angry at Rishi Brighu being forgiven so easily. No one is able to find her and finally she reveals that she resides in places where the lotus blooms. That is why she is called kamala vaasini in Kumbakonam.

I always understood those incidents to be very different, and that Lakshmi was married to Vishnu long before the curse. Also, was the love story they showed true? I never read anywhere of Vishnu living at Bhrigu's ashram to woo Lakshmi.

On another note, Ashish looked very authentic in commoner clothes, but Madirakshi's makeup and getup was too modern. She did not look like a rishi kanya with her loose hair and revealing costume. She looked like a modern girl playing dress-up.

However, she looked quite good as Mahalakshmi. The Vaikunta scene looked sweet.

We had discussed this a bit in DkDM. While Khyatti was married to Bhrigu, she was not the wife that Vishnu killed. Vishnu killed a different wife - Usha - the mother of Shukracharya. That was the actual reason that the latter loathed Vishnu and disdained the Devas.

Also, that curse, as well as the curses that Vishnu received from Vrinda/Tulsi, were the cause of SiRa's separation after the return from Ayodhya. This separation was caused by Narada's curse as a result of the Hari-mukh episode.

Honestly, in serials, I find the depiction of Mahadev-Parvati as SiRa's fanbois as pretty cheesy. Combine that w/ miscast stories, and the disappointment is complete.

The third part of yesterday's episode was the only relevant part. Mareech was supposed to lure Rama far enough away from the ashram. How would he do it if Ravan has stabbed him in the thighs, and he'd have to limp away from Rama?

Wonder whether Lakshman will leave Jatayu in charge of Sita, and Ravan kills him in the abduction attempt?

I was always under the illusion that it was only Narada and Vrinda/Tulsi's curse that resulted in the separation both the times. I never knew about Sage Bhrigu's curse also being a cause of their separation. 😳
I don't know if it makes sense, but if three different people have cursed, it should have been a 3 time separation, right? Anyway, thanks for sharing the info Janaki and Vrish.

The other thing that struck me was Mahadev saying that at the end of every yuga, Vishnu & Lakshmi are separated, and at the start of another yuga, they are reunited. But Rama's incarnation was the only one where Vishnu & Lakshmi were separated. Rukmini was never separated from Krishna, and if one believes the Buddha avatar, then Siddhartha voluntarily separated himself from Yashodhara. Is Kalki supposed to separate from his wives?

I think there is still a little more drama left before the haran. Sita has sent Shri Ram to get the deer while Raavan wanted Sita to come follow the deer😆
And to make us empathize with Sita more, They show her wanting the deer to tend to its injuries instead of being attracted towards it's beauty.

They should have followed my story then and let Mareech go to Sita. It would be a win-win for everyone - except Ravan 😆

😆 marich turned out to e without intelligence 😉

He can still do something. He can take Shri Ram to Raavan directly and then turn back to himself and ask sharanagathi. Shri Ram will wage war against Raavan because of course Raavan will be beside himself in anger and do something to punish marich.

For many, Radha is considered the sampoorna avatar of Lakshmi who was separated from Krishna due to the curse of Shridama, and the eight wives of Krishna were partial incarnations of Lakshmi (or Ashta Lakshmi = Ashta Bharya).
