JEALOUSY PART 2

Lakshman shook his head. His Ram Bhaiya's haldi was over, and most of the time, his mind went into concentrating on Urmila.

Oh Urmila! What have you done to me, love? You seem to have embedded yourself so deep in my heart, and my soul that separation from you seems almost impossible', thought Lakshman.

"Lakshman!", he heard. Turning, he saw Bharat Bhaiya walking towards him.

"Ji Bhaiya", said Lakshman, smiling at the brother he loved to tease.

"You seem lost in thoughts. About who though?", asked Bharat, a partially teasing look in his eyes.

Lakshman looked surprised for a moment, but quickly covered it, and said, "About how things are changing. Especially what with my Bharat Bhaiya in love with a certain princess of Mithila.."

He smirked wickedly, when he saw the colour rise on his brother's cheeks.

"Haan Lakshman Bhaiya! That's why he didn't apologise at the beginning when the pooja thali fell from Rajkumari Mandavi's hands", said Shatrughan, smirking at his elder brother.

"Like you are any better, kid", said Lakshman, smirking at his twin.
"Lakshman Bhaiya!", said Shatrughan, turning red.

"Haan!", said Bharat, now smile-smirking at his little brother. "Shatrughan seemed to like Rajkumari Shrutakirti a lot"

"What is going on here?", came the serene voice of Ram.

"Bhaiya, look. Bharat Bhaiya and Lakshman Bhaiya are teasing me", said Shatrughan, making a baby face at Ram.

"About Rajkumari Shrutakirti?", asked Ram, smirking.

"Bhaiya!", said Shatrughan, blushing more. "You too?"

"Of course Shatrughan. And don't think I didn't see you, Bharat", said Ram, now turning on his younger brother.

"Ram Bhaiya!", said Bharat, looking at him with a slight pout.

"When did you get so mischievous, Bhaiya? Is Lakshman Bhaiya rubbing off on you? Or is it Sita Bhabhi?", asked Shatrughan, smirking.

"It's not Sita Shatrughan. Sita is very calm and serene, like I am. However, I bump into her younger sister Urmila all the time", said Ram, throwing a sly smirk at Lakshman.

"Rajkumari Urmila?", asked Bharat. "She seemed very nice, Bhaiya"

"She is, Bharat", said Ram, smirking, seeing the slight blush covering Lakshman's features.

"But what does Rajkumari Urmila have to do with you being teasing?", asked Shatrughan.

"She teases everyone so well. It's a talent that she had. But she does it so beautifully, that I feel like laughing every time", said Ram. "Thus, I learnt the art of teasing by just listening to Urmila"

"Does she tease Lakshman Bhaiya?", asked Shatrughan, innocently.

"Of course she does. She doesn't spare me either", said Ram. Seeing the devilish look on Shatrughan's face, and surprisingly, Bharat's too, Ram continued, "But you are not allowed to ask her what about yet. Neither are you allowed to ask Lakshman or I. Neither of us will tell you"

"But why, Bhaiya?", said Shatrughan. "Lakshman Bhaiya doesn't get teased easily. I want to tease him"

"Soon Shatrughan. Soon", said Ram, silencing Lakshman with a look, as if saying You can tease him all you want later', who had gotten ready to deal with his devil of a twin.

"Anyway, let us go. We have to go to the Raj Bhavan for food", said Ram, smiling at his brothers.

"Ji Bhaiya!", chorused the three of them. Lakshman felt anticipation bubble in him. He was going to see his Mila again.

During lunch...

Lakshman sighed. Urmila seemed determined to not look at him throughout the lunch.

Why won't she look?', he thought, desperately. Lakshman, you idiot, she thinks that you don't care about her. But why does she think that?'

From afar, Urmila was observing Sumitranandan Lakshman with a slight smile on her face. He looked adorable puzzled. He is...

Urmila! Stop that thought process. He doesn't like you', she thought. She bit her lower lip, and looked down at the ground. Suddenly, she felt a gaze on her. She was compelled to look up; she had ignored his intense gazes through most of the lunch, but now, she simply couldn't. She looked up, and met his heated gaze. She felt rooted on the spot; she couldn't move. His gaze, soft, tender and piercing, seemed to make love to her in that one look. Urmila felt her body heat up, goosebumps spreading all over her skin.

Finally!', thought Lakshman, relieved that she had looked at him. He loved the colour rising on her fair cheeks. He could see, even from far off, that she was becoming breathless. Happy that he had this effect on her, he purposely broke the gaze, and turned back to his kheer. He could sense her half-pout, half-glare at him. She was in partial tigress mode.

Looking down at the kheer, Lakshman knew instantly that Urmila had prepared it. Lifting the cup up, he started drinking the kheer, while meeting Urmila's eyes. He was pretty sure his eyes conveyed his smirk.

Urmila wondered why Lakshman was smirking like this. Did he know..?

Hey Ishvar! He knew that she had made the kheer. He was too observant. Does that mean he knows that she made the food the other day?', she thought, realizing he knew.

Lakshman, staring at Urmila, realized that she realized he knew. His smirk widened. His gaze grew more intense; while Urmila's grew more shy.

This is going to be interesting. Now, how do I get her alone?', thought Lakshman, plotting in his head.

After lunch...

Urmila rushed out of the lunch hall, towards the kitchen.

"Rajkumari!", she heard the voice that haunted her every dream; the voice that thrilled her to her very soul.

Turning, without looking at him, she said, "Pranaam, Rajkumar"

"Pranaam", said Lakshman, staring at her, desperately hoping to catch her lovely doe-like eyes. She however, didn't look up.

Plan B', thought Lakshman, with a sigh.

"The food you had prepared was excellent", said Lakshman, hoping that she would look up atleast now.

"I didn't prepare the food. It was Sita Didi who prepared the food", she said, looking up at Lakshman now. Her eyes seemed to be defiant and challenging.

Lakshman sighed, and said, "Urmila, don't lie to me. I know you made the food. It tastes exactly like what I had at Rishi Yagnavalkya's Ashram"

"That's because Sita Didi made it", said Urmila. Hurriedly, she said, "Pranaam Rajkumar. I have work to do. The wedding is soon"

Saying this, Urmila rushed away; away from the kitchen, away from him.

Lakshman looked confused. Suddenly spotting Sita leaving the kitchen, Lakshman went up to her.

"Pranaam Bhabhi", said Lakshman, folding his hands.

"Pranaam Bhaiya", said Sita, smiling at her soon-to-be devar.

"The food you cooked today was amazing Bhabhi", said Lakshman. "We all loved it"

"The food I cooked? But, Bhaiya, I didn't make the food. Urmila made the food. In fact, since my swayamvar got over, she has only been cooking. Except for the one day that I cooked food for the two of you, Urmi has only been cooking", said Sita, confused.

"She has, has she, Bhabhi?", asked Lakshman, suddenly getting angry. Not wanting his Bhabhi to know the reason behind his anger, he said, "Pranaam Bhabhi. I will take your leave"

Turning, Lakshman stalked off, while Sita looked slightly worried, and exasperated.

Urmi! What did you do?', she thought, praying to Mata Gauri that everything turns out right.

Mithila's gardens...

Lakshman was angry.

Where is she? Where is Urmila?', thought Lakshman, irritation seeping through him. Why is she being so difficult?'

He stepped into a thick clearing. He looked around, and saw the woman who had stolen his heart the first time he saw her. Seeing her sitting under the tree, he felt all his anger drain away. She looked so sad and broken; he wanted to crush her to him, and take all her pains away.

Had she slept?', thought Lakshman. Suddenly, a lone tear fell from her right eye, and ran down her fair cheek.

Mila! Why are you crying, love?', he thought. Did I do something wrong?'

As if she had heard him, Urmila opened her eyes. She turned her startled gaze at him, her eyes wide open.

Implusively, Lakshman took two long strides, and stood half a foot away from her. He looked deep into her brown eyes, his eyes conveying the depth of his emotions.

Urmila looked at Lakshman. Unable to bear the heat of his look, and the tenderness she saw in his gaze, she looked down.

Sumitranandan! Stop playing with my heart like this', she thought. You don't like me. Why are you staring at me like that?'

"Is there something you need, Rajkumar?", she asked, her voice trembling, and tired.

You are all I need', thought Lakshman. Aloud, he said, "Yes, Urmila"

Lakshman decided to do away with the game of Rajkumari. He loved his Mila; it was time she knew it.

Urmila looked up at him with wide eyes. Stop it, Oh Lord of my heart! Don't do this to me!', she thought.

"I know you made the food. Sita Bhabhi confirmed it", said Lakshman, looking at her hard, and a little angry.

"So what?", she asked, raising her chin up defiantly, meeting his eyes square, though the hurt in her eyes was obvious to Lakshman. His heart hurt seeing her like that.

"Why did you lie?", he asked, gently.

"Why do you have to know, Raghunandan?", she asked.

"I just wish to know", said Lakshman.

"I don't want to tell you", she said,

"Why? Is it because I was speaking to Rajkumari Sulakshana?", asked Lakshman, almost smiling at the angry glare and part-awe he got from her. She defined beauty!

Urmila was puzzled. And a little irritated. He is too observant!

"What about that?", she asked, feigning ignorance.

Lakshman sighed at her stubbornness, and yanked her to him. Urmila, surprised as she was, tried to get out of it. However, Lakshman's grip was too strong for Urmila.

"Why would I even look at Rajkumari Sulakshana?", asked Lakshman, once she stopped struggling. Urmila looked away from him.

"I don't know. You tell me", she said.

"I wasn't, though", said Lakshman, causing Urmila to look at him in surprise. "I may have been listening to her chattering, but my eyes were very busy, as was my heart, searching for the princess of Mithila, the one who caught my heart, the vidhikari"

"Oh please! Don't toy with my heart and emotions", said Urmila, giving up all pretense, trying to get out of his grip.

"You do the same to me Mila, my lovely enchantress", said Lakshman, now pulling her closer.

Urmila felt her heart rate increase; breathlessness evaded her. she didn't know what to make of it. With sudden energy, Urmila twisted out of Lakshman's grasp, and tried to run away. However, he was too fast for her.

Lakshman caught Urmila, and pulled her into his arms, whispering into her ear, "Where do you think you are going, my woman of passion? Can't you see how much your Lakshman loves you?"

Urmila gasped, and looked up at Lakshman, softly saying, "Mine?"

"Yours Mila. I am yours. Always", said Lakshman, passion ablaze. "Never doubt that"

"But I thought you hated me", she blurted, wincing at the hard look that had formed on his face.

"From where do you get such ideas? How often do you let your imagination run wild?", asked Lakshman. "Why would I hate you? I never have, never will. You made me fall in love with you long ago, Mila. And before you say anything, I love arguing with you. That day by the lake also I would have argued, but your sisters were there, so I kept quiet"

"Mila, I love you", said Lakshman, with conviction. "And I want to marry you, make you mine, and make me yours, officially. Tell me love, am I right in thinking this is possible for us?"

Urmila felt a smile bloom on her face, making her look radiant. Lakshman's breath was stolen away! Looking at him with all the love she had in her, she said, "Yes! You were right in thinking that"

She flung herself at him, throwing propriety out of the window. Lakshman immediately hugged her back, the single hug conveying his entire emotions.

The two lovers stood in that passionate embrace, forgetting all but themselves, and their newly confessed love.

"Why? Is it because I was speaking to Rajkumari Sulakshana?", asked Lakshman, almost smiling at the angry glare and part-awe he got from her. She defined beauty!

Urmila was puzzled. And a little irritated. He is too observant!

"What about that?", she asked, feigning ignorance.

This was my favourite part...I wanted to shake Urmi...and tell her..."You silly girl why would he look at some random girl when he has you in front of him!!" This entire update was lovely...your characterization has been spot on...simply lovely
