No one is putting down tamil, nor saying Sanskrit is superior. Believing one is older than the other is not insulting it. Like you said, there is not enough historical evidence to prove which came first. The only thing I said is that I believe Ravan spoke Sanskrit. Valmiki Ramayan may not be evidence for everything, particularly the sanskrit vs. tamil debate, but it can surely be taken as a basis for one's beliefs regarding the culture the characters followed. Some may believe the people of Lanka were tamilians, but in my opinion they spoke Sanskrit. It's not an insult to tamil to believe that, and if I believe that Sanskrit was the prevalent language during vedic times, it's my personal opinion and no one should feel offended by that. Having an opinion is not a personal attack against a particular group. I'm not even interested in debating this topic.
India is home to 100s of languages, and obviously everyone feels their native language is the best. I myself am Telugu and very proud of it, but I wouldn't claim that people in vedic times spoke Telugu.
U said it as a statement not a opinion
If u had said that" I think all know Sanskrit in lanka"
I would have taken it as a opinion
But simply saying that there was no north south then
All spoke Sankrit is what made me respond
It means that it was the spoken language of Lanka then
Which doesn't have proof whatsoever
Infact there were more divisions then, more kingdoms
Which makes obvious differences
As travelling is not easy,
Lanka itself has diff history attracted to it
Opinion toh anyone can have, but facts are diff altogether
If that's was just ur opinion, let's leave it at that
