Why are Sita's sisters behaving like cheerleaders?

The royal decorum is completely absent in their behavior...and their dialogues are quite bad too! These are supposed to be princesses...but I find nothing regal in their demeanor..!

I understand that this show is attempting to make Ramayan popular by giving it a contemporary touch. But surely, you can't transpose contemporary personalities onto the characters of a different period. Surely a powerful narrative and characterization is possible even while retaining the original traits of a character belonging to a certain era and a certain social setting..!

Agree with you on this
Specially not liking Mandvi's behaviour ...
Urmila still looks very optimistic about Ram but Mandavi is behaving very childishly...

It's the product of the thought process that 'independent' women have the right to be rude and childish. CVs are just going overboard on the concept of women of the Janak household having a free rein to form their own thoughts and decisions..
Unfortunately instead of handling the opportunity to show how women can be mature and optimistic even under the most uncertain of circumstances, we are shown 3 silly girls fangirling about the men her sister may/may not marry.
The Raavan jaap and Urmila's egging notwithstanding... the way they made fun of the Kings who came for the swayamvar was really in bad taste.. A King who is known for his intellectual poweress is being called a 'teacher' and not fit to be a husband by Urmila.. I am wondering how the daughter of Janak, who himself was a great intellectual spout such silly stuff?

Yes...Urmila is a tad better...but on the whole, the sisters could be better written..!

Why would they be childish just because they are liberated in thought? If this is what the creatives think, then I am worried for the future!

Their acts are childish to you and me but to the CVs... it looks like they are of the opinion that this is how women react when they are allowed to voice their thoughts😆

I don't know.. See it is not like the CVs do not know a better way to handle the reaction of all when the old, bulky kings arrive.. They know.. We see the way that Sathanand and Kushadwaj reacted to the same kings.. The subtle shift in expressions.. the slight embarrassment and perhaps a tad of worry.. but the silence after the small eye lock between the two.. it spoke volumes..

The 3 sisters are born and brought up with these men and women.. will they not know and will they not be mature enough to understand the gravity of what is about to happen? And we were shown that they went to study in an ashram in order to gain knowledge and wisdom.. Wasn't that supposed to be where they should have learnt not to judge the book by its cover? 😕

Bertie! So nice to see you here.😊
The siblings have been portrayed as ditzy dolts right from the start. I think it's to highlight how calm and composed Sita is. Mandavi and Urmila are important characters, and I wish they'd not written them in such a carefree manner. Moreover the actors playing them are mediocre at best!

Yeah, Bert.
I think everyone has a problem with the way the sisters have been written. Liked the younger versions of them better.

Mandavi cheering for Ravan is not going to go down well with the trp crowd too...It is exactly these kind of things the creatives need to be careful about, I feel...

...But then, I guess they wanted to give different shades to the sisters...Firstly, they are not going to be around for long, unlike Lakshman...and the bond between the brothers is untouchable, since it forms the basis of the whole story...therefore,if they had to lend some levity to the script, it had to be by way of the sisters.

Hey...good to see you too 😊

Have just abut started watching...but this sister thing has been a real turn off in every single epi...surely they don't need to undermine one character in order to highlight the other...they can be different and still princess like rather than the cheerleaders they are being now..!

I agree...the casting is pretty poor so far as these characters go...!

Been most impressed by Janak till now..he actually looks and behaves like a Rajrishi..!
