Four beautiful bridesFour handsome grooms8 lives will change8 lives will be testedOne will have his wife taken awayOne will be separated from his wifeTwo will turn monks as they await their brothers. One will be taken away by evil, her hair in his fist. One for her husband for 5110 days will sleep. Two beside their husbands will stand and for their sister will await. The father will grieve andhis eyes open, wanting just one glimpse of his eldest,Will take his final breathe. The mothers three will wear mournful white.Their sorrow hidden by a veil of strength..They will await for the day each of their 8 children will return. The two kings and their wives stood.Dressed in all finery of gold and silk. The kingdom of janak vibrated with mantras and music,Signaling the union of the divine...The grooms stepped forward to garland their brides.A shower of fragrant flowers and turmeric rice on their bowed heads.A million voices blessed in a voice oneFor them to have a long and happy married life. From above the devtas let out a sigh,Knowing what lay ahead.

Delving into Bharat's thoughts
He looked at the star-filled sky above and then at the splendorous city below. Both wonderful creations, one made by the hand of God another, by the hand of man. Who creates love? he pondered God or Man?
It was so simple. 4 sisters, 4 brothers, all of marriageable age, it was only logical that they get married. But what about love... the troublesome voice in his head protested Be practical, Bharat! the voice that strangely sounded like his mother Kaikeyi's admonished. His smile was bitter. What is Love? he thought. He had been taught about faith, duty, righteousness but never about love, not the kind that was shared by a man and his wife.. Maybe love had no place in a kshatriya's life, after all he had sworn to either return victorious or not to return at all.
He turned back into the chamber.
His eyes fell on the sleeping form of his elder brother. His Ram Bhaiyya, He was much more than just an elder brother, he was his best friend, his guru, his guide. Maybe Ram Bhaiyya can answer this question,he thought. He didn't wake his brother up though, he was not a child anymore to wake his brother up for answering all his questions though he was sure Bhaiyya won't mind even if he did. At that very moment Ram turned in his sleep, the moonlight illuminating his features. He had a serene smile on his face. Bharat had never seen Ram Bhaiyya like this, there was something calmer, more serene about his elder brother, as if he had finally found his purpose in life. This is Love thought Bharat with a content smile. Once again his Ram bhaiyya had cleared his doubts, this time without even saying a word. Now he only hoped that she, the one whom his father had chosen for him, was the purpose of his life...

@tuna - this is such an awesome thread. Great works by all of u! Keep it up! 👏
++++++++++++++Something from my side as well -They were the youngest of their respective siblings.
He had no ambitions, no dreams whatsoever. All he knew and all he was taught by his mother was to follow his elder brothers. And he did it ever so diligently.
She was the most pampered by the sisters, the most playful of all, innocent of all, the greatest crybaby of Mithila, yet the most satisfied and happiest of all when she married him. Not because she fell for him, but because her wish of being with her sisters forever, is fulfilled.
His twin followed the eldest to the forest, for 14 long years leaving his beloved in the closed havens of Ayodhya. The one he followed almost blindly refused the luxury of throne. Instead served the kingdom by living in the outskirts. And here he was, all torn from every side humanely possible.
She was going through the same. Torn. Juggling with the palatial chores. Juggling between mothers who were taken care of by her second eldest and her own sister who left to be with her husband as well, renouncing the luxuries.
He took the reins of the army which were crestfallen at the departure of the brothers. She took the responsibility of their women and children. He took it upon himself to solve the matters of public, and she took it upon herself to support him, help him at all costs.
He saw her running about the palace corridors ordering the daasis. Never in his wildest dreams, did he expect her to grow up. He loved her funny and happy self, her innocent self. He loved her for the way she was. His mind wandered to their five months of marital bliss. It was all about him playing pranks on her, frightening her, bonding with her over night long walks cum talks about their siblings and families, dragging her to him, pushing her hair back and sometimes tying them up. He remembered their common interests. Their love for their respective elder siblings. And now, it went manifold with respect and admiration for each other's as well.
He recalled their tearful oath. It was all about the well being of their families and Kosala. Never for themselves. Their room, once filled with joyous laughter was now filled with agony and renunciation of bliss.
14 years passed by. Days with duties, and nights with despair. No one knew of their sufferings, of their sacrifice. And they preferred it that way. They still do.
