Kshithi ,
I am still stuck in ur first point
How many times I have landed in an argument with my colleagues
regarding women equality
They believe that women are treated equal now
In fact they say now Men aren't treated well😲

Do the even read newspapers
I am really appalled
Yes we have come a long way but not yet reached the destination
Still long long long way to go
The people who say this, the same very people
Say in a casual tone
"I slapped my wife today she was arguing too much"
And believe me they don't find it wrong
and it's not even something to be shocked of
It's a casual occurrence
And these are educated city Men I am talking about🤢

I really get furious hearing these talks
Why is it so
has it been always like this
I don't think so
It's been forced into the society gradually at certain period
which need to be forced out gradually now

Thank God here no name changing custom in my family
But nevertheless they change initials
Before marriage it's father's first letter
And after marriage it's husband's first letter
Thankfully my father didn't let my mother change her initials
My mother is still using her father's name
I will say my family due to my father and my mother
is far better than the family I see in my surroundings
We were allowed to question, weren't forced with any decisions
Specially no discrimination btw me and my Bro
But yes in the name of being liberal ,haven't shed our cultural values too
But this is not the case with my friends are the women I see
in my day today life

Now to the episode
And another valid point is
Kausalya being OK with others sacrifice
While her own daughter's sacrifice pain her

And also one thing to note
One thing to be lauded about Dasharth here
he did let his daughter learn arts, crafts
Just like his sons
She is no less than a male warrior

Thanks a lot.😊

And you are right. We are yet to go a long way. This inequality is present in all sections of the society. You see, we use the term 'education' wrongly. What we learn or do in schools and collages is 'Schooling' and we are literate. Are we really educated? So the people you are mentioning are only literate, not educated. I have seen people who have not studied much, they do not have any fancy degree, and yet they are educated.

And Dasharath did love his daughter.

What we really need to fight is the conventions and mindset of the society as a whole, not individuals.

Love
Kshithi
