I know , bt it is said that she took lakshman's part of sleep aswell and thats why he was to kill meghanadh. Read it somewhr.

Unlike in routine ramayana's , Urmila is told as forgotten heroine.

She was too brave and clever unlike Sita who was fragile .

There is vry less discussed about her .

But yes , she is definitely not a mere sleeping beauty.

@DilMereSuntaNhi - The description u have given of Urmila is more of Kavita Kane's portrayal. AFAIK, Valmiki has only one line mention of her. She was brave though, I agree.

I would suggest, not to go by KK's book...She has somehow butchered Urmila's portrayal as well...

Meghnadh vadh was due to some other reasons too...

I read the book aswell . There is vry less we actually know about her. She is assumed to be very intelligent and clever with high knowledge as she is the daughter of Janak.

I don't know about the other reasons for meghnadh vadh , I read a bit of this in web.
