I have given it a 3/5 because the overall episode is good, and the introductions of the characters is interesting, but I dislike the portrayal of Kaushalya so far as this bitter queen with anger towards her husband.

I have nothing against the fact that they showed the Shanta story in this Ramayan, because it is a popular and well known story, BUT Kaushalya was a very kind and happy woman who treated her husband with the utmost respect and love even though she knew Kaikeyi was his favorite wife. Actually, Sumitra is the queen who is occasionally jealous of Kaikeyi and goes to Kaushalya with complaints of their husband's unfairness, but Kaushalya always assured Sumitra that Dashrath was a fair and kind ruler, and not to think bad about their husband.

Kaushalya is supposed to be kind, wise and just. Why else would Lord Vishnu have been born to her? A woman would have to have an ideal character to bear God in her womb, and the way Nikhil Sinha portrayed Kaushalya, she seems like a very bitter and unhappy woman. Didn't like that very much.

Janak Raja's was awesome today. Loved his expressions.
Background score and the rest of the casting is also very nice too.

Kuddos to Siya Ke Ram team👍🏼
Great start.

Yes, that seemed a bit odd but I overlooked it hoping it's just temporary...
Kaushalya was a very gentle, warm and loving person...atleast I don't remember reading anywhere about her being a bitter woman .

^^ I doubt it's going to be temporary. They are making it seem like no one knows about Shanta and it's a hushed by secret.

But in the version that has this story of Shanta being Kaushalya's daughter, everyone knew about how she was adopted by Romapada and married to Rishyashringa. Shanta was Rishyashringa's wife before Ram was even born, and it was Rishyashringa who did the putrakameshti yagna for Dashrath.

So Shanta never lost connection with her birth parents. She lived near Ayodhya in Rishyashringa's ashram and I'm sure she visited Ayodhya during her brothers' childhood.

Check the article on Kaushalya
They did say that they(Dashrath and Kausalya) have some misgivings
May be it will be shown later

Yes Mano, I remember reading that article & being surprised even then..
But anyway,I have a lot of faith in this show's creators, they wouldn't show anything just for the heck of it and that too so soon so let's see how it unfolds.
