I think kunal confessed to Nandini that he loved her she is his divine love but she never became his best friend and to be a life partner you need a best friend pyar is not enough.
So Nandini will convey that to mauli and tell her to come back in kunal s life may be kunal came back to meet mauli but then he would not have been saying to Nandini that mauli is happy and he is happy for her.
