As some one said here they are trying to keep it realistic .In reality too ppl are not fully negetive they don't go planning and plotting ways.Kunal and nandini are grey only with some postive and negetive traits.Today alter ego scene of nandini shows that she is grey but she has postive side too.And it's always fight bw two shades and nandini reacts according to which side overpowers her.She is selfish when it comes to kunal that she hv no guilt in hurting mauli to make him hers but now she is thinking about child of mauli too and her postive trait don't want to spoil it 4 baby .Such characters confuses us and we don't know what to do with them.
In reality, people are not two faced with themselves, politicians will loot you but in their election rally they talk about a better India, they talk about helping poor. But you bet that they are not like this in front of a mirror. They don't go saying "I wanna help poor" while ordering riots or "I wanna erase corruption" while taking bribes.
When people do wrong and they know they are wrong, they might lie to people around them but Nandini lies to herself. She was standing there Mauli was crying and next thing she does is blushes for Kunal and gets ready for the date with him. She calls Mauli's baby a grahan, forget Mauli, she called Kunal's baby a grahan, then she says "Ham ek baby se uska father nahi lenge" or "Ham promise todna nahi chahte the"
She is constantly in this self pity and self lying mode, thats not reality, because in real world, you don't lie to yourself
