@TheMockingBird she really was pretty good in madhubala as much as I have watched, like I remember the scene where RK and madhu got drunk in one of the episodes following RK's dhokha of love to madhu and the drunk scenes were supposed to be a combination of comedy as well as emotional stuff and she nailed both. There are of course other scenes too,I don't think madhubala raised her voice many times while giving it back to RK but her strength was clear in her eyes and voice modulation.I love her in the scenes where she has to display the emotional strength of her character or stand up for herself, like that scene when geet stood up to her elder cousin and entire family for doing what they did to her.I don't like her comedy many times either and prefer her performance as madhubala to that as geet because latter had more comedy.DD in emotional scenes>>comedy for me too.

OT : I too don't like her much as nandini, there are few scenes she has done well in but they are too few IMO.May be she has become a bit complacent because she is an established name?It really has been a below average performance IMO.
The look she is given is because of the stylist and not her but she certainly seems to like it too, does it never cross her mind that may be nandini shouldn't be so decked up all the time?Nobody from the team seems to think about it,comes across as pretty superficial.

This is my first time watching all four actors and I think that they are all giving full justification to their roles. I think its all perception but the little bit that I understand Nandini is all because of DD expressions and the director who is nailing the scenes as there are no dialogues.

For example, the scene in the room after they return from the temple where she has realized her feelings for her bf's husband, the aftermath of the bridge scene where she punishes herself, the aftermath of the abuse scenes were one of the best (I actually had goosebumps looking at her), the confession, the aftermath of the woman blackening her face where she tell Kunal "hum ghande hain" was amazing, her interaction with Mauli last week where she is twiddling between love and friendship where she knows she should give in but does not want to, the shock, the helplessness that she cannot give in to her friend's request where she starts going backwards was nailed by her, her rejection scene with Kunal where "Ha bas khatam" with that angry look and then the breakdown inside the room was done very well. Even the kidnapping scene where she went from fear for her life to anger at Rajdeep, to accepting that sacrifice is the way to go but at the last moment not ready to give Rajdeep the satisfaction was done perfectly. Also, in the aftermath, her being firm but still breaking up inside, trying to suppress the tears when she is telling Kunal to go was done accurately. IMO. her character can be questioned but not her acting .

Frankly, at this moment I cannot see any actress doing justification to Nandini, DD has nailed her and I can only see her as Nandini. I think in-spite of the popular opinion, this show is actually stretching her acting skills with the abuse scenes. Also, as an actor if a scene call for sadness only, breakdown only or happiness only, its very easy to do but going back between guilt for her friend and happiness that your love is standing up for you and will be yours and sadness that friendship is broken within that one scene itself is very difficult and DD is doing it. May be that's the reason for the confusion that came across on the screen. If anyone is to blame here, it is the write-up of the scenes, the character's changing reaction to the situation or the tracks which keep going in circles.

As far as the style icon thing is concerned, Nandini is a character who likes to dress up since the beginning. That's how Mauli had described and I guess they are just following it.

PS: I have only written about DD because that's what the topic is about because I know and agree that other actors have also done full justice to their role. Also, there is this one scene which I watched on youtube because someone ask me to see it and its one of the most beautiful scenes of ITV. The moment Geet realizes her love for Maan. DD has done it so beautifully and the shot done by the director is really praiseworthy,

I will agree to disagree here I loved her scenes where she was shown domestic violence victim. No one can perform that scenes so well .Nandini character hv become boring with all crying stuff even efficient actress will get bore of crying. She was too good in feet and mb.And even one has to really know what is break down scenes they should watch DD in MB after rk revenge i hv yet to see an actress who can perform such scences so convincly.I will not say DD is best actress because we hv better actress than her like sakshi talwar, shweta tewari and Mona Singh but she is better than current actress on tv who give one or two expression in name of acting.S he does hv limitations but that doesn't mean she is bad actress.

Exactly its write up of scenes which are confusing still DD is doing fine job. It's very difficult for an actress to perform when writer herself is confused about character.Geet is one of her best show whatever ppl say here she slayed as Geet. Her scenes were so good in geet that you connect with each and every scene. There were many shades in Gert's character and she did justice to every shade. Moreover,it was her first show as a lead and directed Nissar brought out the best in DD .As everyone know it's director job to bring best of actor so Nissar and DD combo was magic as Nissar knew DD so well that he know her strength and he used it so well. That is why geet is icon role for DD.

I agree with whatever u said! Unfortunately she's only been reduced to a commodity by the PH's who she's worked with n the emphasis has only been on her looking good n wearing backless outfits. I don't think she's got a problem with that either! But it looks like her acting has taken a back seat. The only two roles that were different from the other were her as Muskan n then Geet! After that it's only been an extension of Geet!

@mockingbird: I didn't watch Madhubala but I saw Geet, Ek tha Raja and pardes. Though in geet, she was okay in romantic and you know how pushing against the wall abuse manhandling wala romance. I said okay but contrary to fans, I didnt see anything great. She was just okay. But then in the other three serials, nothing extra ordinary. I find her a decent actress but very overated for me because her acting is the same and it's boring to see especially for someone who saw three serials of her. She uses same style, shivering/lip shaking isnt new, her pout and delivery are same and hasn't changed.
I would say that she must take versatile role, but then again in tellywood, there isn't much scope, it's dormat bahus all over again. Since some of her fans said she won't take black/grey stuff, then obviously people will be bored of her. Besides, she played a Rani, then pardes she played pocessed woman with spirit 😉, so she got the chance to play versatile characters which other people doesnt get but she did not use that chance to level up her acting. She seems stuck.

I didnt see her as muskaan but i'm assuming after muskaan was geet and that period was her optimum point where according to fans she did great but after that, she had a sinking graph. For me she was average before now she is below average. Seeing her in silsila doesn't look like she is some senior. She looks like a newbie, who smirk and was smiling secretly when Maunal was fighting

This is purely my pov but I feel that DD has reached her peak performance. her max level so she cannot do more better.

She is a beautiful woman and it's not a crime to love new Sarees so I guess DD is enjoying one good thing about Nandini's character. It is not appealing that her clothes get more positive comments than her performance but she is a really good actress. I haven't seen her past shows rigorously, I have seen Madhubala but the violence in name of love was off putting. I don't remember much about Geet, except that Maan's entry was from a sea where she was drowning. She was the only good thing about the Raja Rani show. For me she was the best in Madhubala.

As Nandini, that lamp scene where she was trying to warm herself was done fantastically, I just felt so much pain for her. Maunan reunion scene was good too, then I loved her alter ego scene that one eyebrow raise of evil alter ego was wow. Yes, the excessive vibration in every emotional scene was just irritating. She started vibrating when she was hiding he feelings from Kunal, many felt that she thought Kunal will rape her.
She has this habit of smiling in between crying scenes and that gets me confused every time.
