The flashback that is shown clearly indicates that kunal loved mauli. The banter romance or even sweet talks they had only happens between two people who love each other.

That's the worst part...Kunal didn't just cheat, he didn't just develop an attraction, they are trying to show his equation with nandini as love. She has become his phone password, he is saying her name in sleep too...that has obviously shattered mauli. There's no indication that they were drifting away from each other in their marriage too. On the one hand Kunal says they were perfect, what they had was real and on the other hand he's not just had a fling with someone in the heat of the moment, he has actually replaced his wife with her. Shared things with her that one would only do with their partner. That's shocking. Can that really happen...it shakes my belief in soulmates and happily ever after if it does...can you be "happily" married and then have not just an affair but actually fall in love again? Or is it that Kunal loved mauli but gradually fell out of love without even realizing it?! The very notion makes me so uncomfortable...Haven'twatched this show at all till I saw a clip with reviews of Aditi sharmas amazing performancne so I read some background of what's happened thus far and the angst quotient is definitely hooking to watch. My heart goes out to this beautifully etched character of mauli...hope they show her rise from the ashes and become accomplished in her career. I know some people want to see her move on and get married but I don't know if someone who experiences this kind of heartbreak will ever think about a relationship ever again atleast not in only 2 years...to start with I just want to see her channel her angst into her career and really evolve into an even more amazing woman than she already has been potrayed as. She should retain her goodness while obviously keeping her gurads up but not just turn bitter and angry at everything. She should NOT forgive the people who wronged her but she should learn with the support of her mother in law to put it past her. I don't have any opinion about Kunal or nandini. But the way maulis character was presented and the way I see it being performed sincethe revelation of the affair has really touched me and also shaken me up!r
