Lets start with Nandini..throughout her marriage she was treated like a property by her husband and she never got his support in anything. She didn't know it was possible to have a support of a man and she got that from Kunal. It didn't matter what, he was there for her provided for just a short while but he was. Its human nature to want that for yourself...its sad that she found that in her best friend's husband but she found it and thats why that line which she wasn't supposed to cross got blurred.
With Kunal maybe its true he realised how he felt during that barish moment but I don't think that's the only thing that made him feel what he feels for her...Mauli is a very nice beautiful and strong girl who doesn't show her weakness and likes to be in control and maybe that's what the problem is with their relationship which is stupid I know but men like to be needed for small small things and they like damsels in distress which happens to be Nandini to the T. Its not about her qualities or preferences and choices but her fragility. With Nandini,Kunal feels needed and in control of their relationship while with Mauli he takes the back seat and she controls the relationship. Problems don't have to be yelling and fighting with each other. There are those psychological ones like the ones Kunal and Mauli are facing which re way worse that the normal spats..He tried so hard to make it work but his heart has already registers that there is someone who will treat him better than his wife so there is no going back for him. He will find any way to justify it and at the end if the day it might be the best thing for him no matter how immoral it is to the society. I am not saying this because I think, I am saying it because I've seen it before. My husband left me because I was in control and I wasn't fragile. I fought it at the beginning but I finally understood that he was no longer my husband for a long while, the signs were all there but I was the one who didn't want to see those signs just like Mauli is ignoring all the signs that her husband is not the same person but she justifies it by saying she doesn't spend enough time with him. It may be a bitter pill to swallow but somehow its that grey area where it might not be right but its not wrong.

But my dear, i think it has nothing to do with a girl being strong or fragile, it is in their mind .There are guys who love fragile women and wants to be a knight in shining Armour to save a damsel in distress , but there are also few guys who like smart girls who can handle the household as well as the job..
I have seen so many different personalities in my surroundings. There are guys who wants to be dominant n control their wife, there are guys who are insecure of their wives success, there are guys who can't handle the fact that the wife is more intelligent and successful and yeah offcourse if she earns more than him, it will add to his insecurity. Having said that,there are also few guys who love dominant girls , there are guys who consider their wife as better half in real sense and help them out in the household chores be it cooking, cleaning and other stuffs.So, my dear, these kinda stuffs has nothing to do with the girl's personality..
Why do people fallout of love and why infidelity and affairs takes place we can never answer those questions.
If you take the example of this show itself, nandini was fragile and mouli was strong, there is a reason they showed such extremely different personalities.Rajdeep prefered smart and modern woman and abused the fragile nandini, probably he expected someone like mouli who had a career , while kunal fell in love with nandini who was completely opposite from mouli..
