It's quite plain actually.
Manmeet's priority is Anmol.
And I may be in a minority but I liked what she did. It wasn't fair but necessary.
Till date, Raj is a person who always bounces back. He has been given a suffocated treatment in his home and is barely able to voice out his thoughts. He is suppressed and made to play a role. With Manmeet he got to see a different phase of life. She too was hated for her choices by her father but she struggled forth alone, got her goal and then reconciled too. Manmeet inspired him and it is no wonder that his heart sang for her. He wanted to be a part of her small family.
That's why he was so hurt when she denied him any connection after the drama was over. He was upset and wanted to make her speak out that he mattered to her. He brought in Anisha but realized it was of no use. He saw Manmeet being character assassinated and yet went on to think that getting the DNA test done will solve everything. But then the goons episode happened and Manmeet's slap and her disgust for the first time fuelled him to stand against his father. He did and he Succeeded which empowered him. He soared for some time and after getting drunk spoke out his truth to Manmeet. That he loved her and that she was it for him. Next morning he repeated it, even talking of names of their children. He loves her after all.
It is easy to say yes to such a proposal. But Manmeet is not a teen girl gushing about. She is a single mother through an IVF; someone who has carved her own place in the society. And for her, her focus is Anmol. Raj being in her life will affect Anmol. With Raj's placating nature it is obvious that if they get together, Manmeet will have to bear the brunt of forever struggling to get Anmol accepted by his family. The Yadav's are weird sort and Mr Yadav specifically will always have a bone to chew. Choti too will create problems so that Anmol is never accepted. Already they sent goons for a child. Imagine what else can happen; specifically when Raj is not yet ready and mature enough to shoulder the responsibility of a step child. He is in his rosy world of Manmeet and his love but he isn't figuring out that despite his love for Anmol, the baby boy won't be easily accepted by his family members. Raj hasn't been able to fight for his own dreams, how can he successfully fight for Anmol? Just him taking a stand against kidnapping Anmol isn't enough to mature his character. He needs time to mature.
Also, Manmeet could have simply said no and not exposed him. But then Raj being what he is, he would have kept coming back. He would have badgered her. And one day she would have melted. She understands how he affects her. And so she took precaution. The only way to permanently stop him from coming to her is to burn the bridge. And she burnt it well.
She is a selfish mother who chose her child over the world. And being someone who has been contemplating IVF myself; I cannot bring myself to condemn her choices. I know it's a show and they will end up together but in real life if such a choice comes up, I feel burning the bridge is better. Romance cannot be enough to endure toxic environment.
