Recently, numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani told TV star Vikas Bhalla to change the spelling of his name to get the best out of life. "I am going to take his advice," says Bhalla. "I am going to change the spelling to Vikaas. All of us could do with a little help," believes this Lokhandwala resident.
Bhalla is not alone. Actress Isha Koppikar has added two a's to her name and made it Ishaa Koppikaar. "I got the number Khallas right after that," she says. Her life has also changed for the better since then. "I am more relaxed and I find myself in a better state of mind," says Ishaa.
Versova resident and VJ Ishita Arun also changed the spelling of her name to Ishitta, by adding an extra 'i'. She says, "Numerology is a science that helps you better your life." Ishiita, besides being a VJ for B4U TV, has also received attention for her performance in the zany music video Aika Dajiba, which she did soon after changing her name.
Ektaa Kapoor, whose Balaji Television has its huge corporate office in Adarsh Nagar, is one of the most well-known followers of numerology. All her serials are spelled (or misspelled) so that they arrive at the auspicious destiny number 5. "I do not start any work on a day that is considered inauspicious by numerologists, nor do I name a serial until I am sure that numerologically it is good for my show," says Ektaa.
Kiron Kher changed the spelling of her name to Kiroon Kher a year ago and won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival for her performance in Rituparna Ghosh's film Badiuli. Kher does not believe that she received the award only because she changed her name but claims that life has been more stable and peaceful since she has added the extra 'o' to her name.
Sudha Shivpuri (Ba of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi fame), who is a resident of Versova, has added a 'd' to her name to make it Suddha. She feels, "I feel I have got all the fame after I changed the spelling of my name." Like Ba, Smriti Irani-Malhotra, better known for her role as Tulsi, changed her name by adding a 'z' (her husband's initial) in the middle and an 'a' to her surname, to become Smriti Z Iraani. She believes that if numerology can help you better your life, there is no harm in taking recourse to it.
