what is the problem with the lead being transgender?

I have never watched this show but lately I have seen a lot of articles about it. I am a little confused, being transgender, how is that a big deal? how could the main lead not know about transgender? transgender is an option. everyone has the option to trans from male to female or female to male. No one can force someone to be a transgender, that is a personal option. so why would the main lead attempt suicide over that? Why is her mother stopping her from consumption? Apparently transgender have a normal sexual life. Or are they mistaken with the definition of transgender? Are they referring to her as hermaphrodite?

Transgender -> a person who wishes to be considered as a member of the opposite sex

hermaphrodite -> a hermaphrodite is a person who has both male and female reproductive organs

i think she is intersex... bcoz she doesn't look like a transman to me with such feminine features... makers r showing her intersex indirectiy what i think!!! they cant speak it out loudly because in india intersex are also labelled as kinner! and a person becomes trans in puberty and she was labelled as kinner on the day she was born. so she is intersex
