In our world, the world of humans, we mostly rely on our eyes and ears to read a person and pass judgment on them. Safe or unsafe. Savoury or unsavoury character ( This can vary with each person, for, they, are unsavoury by nature themselves. Pambariyum paambin kaal).

People tend to gravitate towards a well-dressed person and one who is also well-spoken. People also tend to gravitate towards meek, timid souls who can be easily subjugated. F..k people.

But Dhana and his kind saw more. A lot more, for they, along with their eyes and ears saw and felt with their minds.

The human brain, over millions of years, has made huge strides to reach its current state of evolution and is still evolving. But, at its core, its thoughts, emotions and desires remain the same and look the same when they glitter and shimmer in a person's eyes.

For one who is perceptive all things deceptive are laid bare in minute detail. All one needs to do is observe and read the fine print. But then it is easier said than done. I akin perception, observing and reading people to reading all the minute and tiny details in an agreement copy. I guess it is mostly safe. But then..... ezharai yaara vittuchu.

The moment he sensed her presence, Dhana knew that Tara was not the same person whom he had encountered in the tunnels under the ancient hospital Hotel-Dieu for she felt very different. His eyes confirmed his heart the moment they captured her when she joined him at his table.

Where once her skin tone had been bluish-black, it now strangely appeared blackish brown. Her eyes appeared clear and had lost the reddish hue that had filled them and made him wonder if she was suffering from what back in Chennai, was known as " Madras eye ".

Dhana stared into her raven-black eyes and realised that she was indeed a beautiful woman. Sadly, the beauty of her body and soul had been buried in a sheath made of poison that her late mother Clementina had filled her with from the time she had been born.

Dhana expanded his mind to know more about the woman who sat opposite him and was taken aback when he realised that all she wanted was him. His love, protection, care and company.

She looked at him and said, ' I have been waiting all my life for you. I say that because I feel complete, healed and in peace ' and turning away said in a hushed tone, ' I feel free in your presence. I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted away from my body and soul.'

Their interlude was interrupted by the arrival of the coffee that Dhana had ordered for Tara and he looked at the man who placed it on the table and asked, ' What happened to the server who just served me a few minutes earlier?'

The man who was the waiter and the manager of the small cafe smiled, blushed, and tried to think of an excuse but failed and confessed, ' He is the one who should be serving you

but when such a beautiful and aristocratic lady happens to grace our table, I could not resist myself ' and turning to Tara, ' Madame, merci d'avoir honoré notre petit café de votre présence royale . ( Ma'am, Thank you for honouring our tiny cafe with your regal presence ).

Tara thanked him and then slowly looked all around her with eyes full of wonder forcing Dhana to enquire what was going on.

' mon ame, this is my land. This is where I was born and this is all I know. All this time, people have the strangest reactions and exhibit strange and weird behaviour when they see me. Some run screaming and some just freeze to stone. Many others just avoid looking at me and cross themselves. In the beginning, I was confused and hurt when people behaved so rudely but then I grew up and grew out of it. I realized that I was born a witch and that meant magic, spells and darkness. I embraced the darkness and darkness embraced me and I turned into.....

Then before Dhana could react, Tara got out of her chair and sitting down next to him, cupped his head gently, began kissing him. People whistled, cheered, clapped and yelled, ' Bravo! Bravo! nous vous souhaitons un joyeux Noël. Que Dieu vous bénisse tous les deux. ( we wish you a happy Christmas. God bless both of you).

Pulling back, Dhanashekara Pandyan whispered, ' interesting ' and Tara whispered back, ' This is only my second time kissing. The first time was also with you last night. I did not know that it is such a beautiful experience ' and pulling him roughly buried her mouth in his and buried her life in his soul.

There have been hundreds of times when I have stood watching the sun slowly rise out of the sea, dressed in shades of reds and oranges that would have surely brought a blush to the golden cheeks of the Late Puratchi Thalaivar MGR. Sometimes, the sun changes colours more quickly than Ulaga nayagan Kamal used to change costumes in a single song, back in them glorious 80s.

I sometimes wonder if our parent star is conscious and sees everything that is happening around it.

There have been so many times when like today's famous marketing slogan " Buy one get one free " I have been blessed to witness a fantastic sunrise and an equally awesome sunset on the same day. Longing to prolong and hold on to the moments, I have even tried playing my childhood games like " Statue, Freeze " but to no avail for the sun keeps moving on.

They should add the sun to time and tide for it too does not wait and like them so do our lives and stories. But stories endure for a longer time than the one who wrote them.

Leaning back, he looked at her and said, ' I think I will go for a walk ' and unsure of what to say or do enquired politely, ' Do you want to join me?'

Tara jumped up and answered happily, ' Yes, mon ame. I would love to' and all Dhana could do was smile and think, 'Interesting'.

Shoving his palms in the warm pockets of the long woollen coat he was wearing, he began walking but stopped immediately when Tara slung her left arm around his right and announced, ' Winter has just begun its new reign but autumn can be still seen in the foliage all around Paris ' and burying herself in his eyes she said, ' But it is now spring in my soul with your light for warmth and comfort. Thank you.

' A budding poet. Bravo ' Dhana complimented her and Tara looked at him with her big black eyes, ' Almost all great poems are about either love or loss and sorrow ' and looking all around her, ' Mon ame, just like the trees are shedding their old leaves in a riot of colour and will soon dress themselves in green, I too am shedding my past and my darkness and am now covering myself with you.. with light and with grace'.

He had not noticed it earlier but did now as a sudden December gust blew through them and lifted her magnificent hair and for a second they hung around her like a halo, prompting him to whisper, ' Beautiful ' and then he asked her if she knew what was going on with her and with him.

Tara looked at him with sad eyes, ' I have read about it but never gave much thought to it for I never felt what I am feeling right now ' and caressing his cheek, asked ' Is this it?'

' Is this, what?'

' I mean, l............................ove?'

He looked at her and said, ' I don't know for I have never been in love before.'

Gasping in shock, she asked him if he was joking. ' How can that be? You mean, you have never had any..............'

' Girlfriends?'

' Yes.'

' I have and I will stop with that and I hope you will too.'

Tara's eyes misted over with a film of sadness and seeing the shine in them, Dhana said, ' Okay, just this one time I am going to make an exception for you. I owe you that for you and this situation we are in, is for want of a better word, exceptional by itself.

Pointing to a wooden bench under a tree that was dressed in yellow, ' Come, let's sit down and then you can ask your questions and I will do my best to answer them'.

They sat down land after looking at each other for a brief second both looked away, filled with different thoughts and feeling a different emotion. Deep in his soul, Dhana asked Azhagan, ' My lord, Father, what do you want me to do now? Gayatri is safe and is well-protected. Shall I return?'

' No, stay back child. I will call on you when it is time to return home.'

' But, my lord, what do I do with this lady?'

' Listen to your heart, child. Trust your heart as you have always done and like we of the light do. Your heart beats not just for you but for the Universe and for a higher purpose.'

' Is this why you sent me to Paris?'

' Yes. No. Both I suppose.'

' Father, why now? '

' Why not, Dhana? Do you think you are not worthy of love?'

' My lord, I did not mean that. It's just that.....

' You mean she is a witch..'

Her lips interrupted his thoughts, and when he looked at her, Tara asked, 'Have you finished with your discussion?'

Dhana looked at her with surprise and shrugging her shoulders, Tara said, ' I do that all the time. I blank out and talk to myself. No big deal. Do it but not when I am around'.

' I am sorry but I am a bit confused with this whole situation concerning you and me...'

Slipping her right hand into his shirt, she placed her palm on his heart and asked him, ' What is your heart telling you?
