“Love is like a narcotic. At first it brings the euphoria of complete surrender. The next day, you want more. You’re not addicted yet, but you like the sensation, and you think you can still control things. You think about the person you love for two minutes, and forget them for three hours. But then you get used to that person, and you begin to be completely dependent on them. Now you think about him for three hours and forget him for two minutes. If he’s not there, you feel like an addict who can’t get a fix. And just as addicts steal and humiliate themselves to get what they need, you’re willing to do anything for love.”― Paulo Coelho, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
Love, and by that common and much flogged word, I mean all kinds of love we human beings feel in a lifetime. The love we feel for our family and friends is a beautiful feeling and all but nothing compared to what we feel for the one who fills our entire being. Love that makes your head spin and love that makes your heart beat faster than that of a cheetah chasing a prey animal.
The person who we fall in love and out of love takes our heart on what feels like a roller coaster ride. Up we go and down we plunge and this happens to all of us I suppose. They show us the depths of hell and the heights of heaven and have the power to make us feel both at the same time. Have you ever stopped and thought as to what is going on in your head while in love and out of love? Have you ever thought about what is it that makes love worth dying for and killing for and makes us feel the same when we break up and fall our of love. Heaven and Hell.
When in love, there is a whole lot of chemical processes going on that results in the secretion of these following drugs. Oxytocin, testosterone and oestrogen, dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, Adrenaline. Epinephrine, Vasopressin etc. WTF. How do you expect to even stand a chance of running away or stop from falling in love when such a deadly cocktail of drugs are being pumped into your system and that too by your own brain. Brutus. Neeyum Naanuma?
But there is a love, a drug, an instant fix that can be reached for at any given moment and that if freely available. That drug is called God, faith, devotion, hope, belief and prayer. Yes, I concede that it sometimes fails to deliver the goods and almost always delivers only half of what you expected or thought you were promised. But that is far better than nothing.
Prayer in full belief and trust in the higher power might not make our problems disappear but it will make them bearable.
Almost everyday, I whisper to that Entity that is God, ' I know that I problems and pain will come my way. I am not asking for you to remove them but just requesting you for the strength to face them and cross them hurdles safely. Give me pain but also show me the way and just don't abandon me.'
Am I on the same frequency with you?
In the end, when one love hurts us, we can always reach out for the other that we call heavenly one. Yes, love is a drug for life is that and more......................
This is a chemical Universe and if you and I are part of the Universe then we are chemicals too. Right.
A chemical bag weighing on average between 50 to 80 kgs and yet capable of so much good and sadly a whole lot more of bad.
