' How many times have you sparred with Otto?'

' A dozen times and as of now, we are tied. Why do you bring that up?'

' Otto challenged Raman three times, and lost all three times, and badly, and then in the end....'

Radhu spat his thoughts as words, ' In the end.... don't tell me mother for I can guess what must have happened as I know only too well about that old bald fox Otto Hauptmann. The wily Bas..rd he is, he must have tried to cheat or fool Raman in an attempt to regain his lost honour.'

Shinogai smiled and shook her head and said, ' No, he did not for what happened was opposite to what you just said.'

' What happened, Ammi? He did not cheat or fool Raman' and banging the table hard with his hand, ' I know what Otto might have done, turned tail and ran for his life. Correct?'

' No, baby. He bowed low in surrender and accepted Raman as his master.'

Radhu gasped a curse in surprise, ' Holy crap' and stared at his mother with wide-open eyes and mouth and then a lovely smile lit up his face and he began to laugh uncontrollably.

' OMG! I wish I had been there to see that arrogant Bas..rd Otto bow in defeat and surrender and that too in his own space, in Mossad's headquarters.'

Shinogai picked up her phone and tapped on its screen and with a gentle smile gave it to her son who looked at her for a brief second and picked up the phone and saw that it was a video and the duration was about 6 minutes long.

He looked at Shinogai sharply, ' Ammi, is this it? Is this what i think it is?'

Shinogai nodded and picked up her cup of coffee, sipped it and watched her cub watch the video of the fight between Raman and Dr Otto Hauptmann, head of Mossad, Israeli Intelligence.

' But, how mum, how did you manage to lay your hands on this video?'

' It was forwarded to me by William and I did not think much about it when I first saw it. But, it takes on great significance now because Raman is in the know-how about us. Friend or foe, I thought it is better that you saw it yourself and then together we can come to a conclusion.'

Radhu sighed and shook his head and said, ' Ammi, conclusion, is the wrong word for this matter was concluded long before we entered India.'

Slightly alarmed by this unusual declaration by her son who she knew very well was a borderline atheist, shinogai asked him to explain himself.

' Ammi, remember that old man whose name was Palam Swamy and who was our guide when me and Kavita entered the forest of Perumalvaram' Radhu asked Shinogai who replied, ' Yes, I remember him. What about him?'

' Mother, it did not make sense then, the vague, cryptic and frustrating thoughts that he spouted when I asked him what we were supposed to do if we happened to encounter some predator or even armed bandits.'

Shinogai nodded her head, egging him in to finish saying what he had begun and Radhu did.

' Ammi, nothing makes sense about this magical forest called Perumalvaram and what happened to me and Kavita after we entered it. But, much before all that happened, this old man Palam Swamy said a few things that creeped me out and I didn't know it then but I do now for I recognise what I felt.'

' What, Ayan? What did you feel baby?'

' Fear, mother. I felt fear for the very first time in my life. It was not the fear of guns or knives or death but fear of the unknown and that there was indeed something beyond our control and our comprehension.'

' Radhu baby, what was it that the old man Palam Swamy said that made you feel fear, something that I have never heard you say before this moment?'

Radhu's eyes locked with the sea-green eyes of his mother and even though his lips moved and she heard him clearly, his eyes revealed more than his words did.

' He told me that there was an entity watching over everything and that another man, a brother would stand by my side and together we would hunt down our enemies. He told me that I had come from the sands of Arabia to the land of the blue three-eyed God to help my father and to regain what I had lost through Zareen and Abu.'

Shinogai's green eyes flickered reflecting her son's fears and both sat in silence. Mother and son knew that Raman was going to play a significant part in their quest to save Rajashekar and in finding out who was behind the attack on him and Radhu.

Radhu's eyes changed for they were suddenly charged with a new thought, an idea and seeing his eyes, Shinogai asked him what he was thinking.

' Mother, we need to find out more about that man who came into father's room posing as a doctor.'

Shinogai with a smile, ' my thoughts too for we need to get his DNA which just might help us learn more about him and through him learn hopefully, who sent him.'

To learn more about what transpired between Radhu and Palam swamy, pls see chapters 198 and 199.

The history of the ambulance begins in ancient times, with the use of carts to transport patients. Ambulances were first used for emergency transport in 1487 by the Spanish forces against the Emirate of Granada.

There is evidence of forced transport of those with psychiatric problems or leprosy in ancient times. The earliest record of such an ambulance was probably a hammock-based cart constructed around 900 AD by the Anglo-Saxons. During the Crusades of the 11th century, the Knights Hospitaller set up hospitals to treat pilgrims wounded in their battles in the 'holy land', although there is no clear evidence to suggest how the wounded made their way to these hospitals. The Normans used a litter suspended between horses on two poles. Variations on the horse litter and horse-drawn wagons were used until the 20th century.

The first known hospital-based ambulance service was based out of Commercial Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, (now the University of Cincinnati Medical Center) by 1865. This was soon followed by other services, notably the New York service provided out of Bellevue Hospital. Edward Dalton, a former surgeon in the Union Army, was charged with creating a hospital in lower New York; he started an ambulance service to bring the patients to the hospital faster and in more comfort, a service which started in 1869. These ambulances carried medical equipment, such as splints, a stomach pump, morphine, and brandy, reflecting contemporary medicine.

During World War One, the Red Cross brought in the first widespread battlefield motor ambulances to replace horse-drawn vehicles, a change which was such a success, the horse-drawn variants were quickly phased out. In civilian emergency care, dedicated ambulance services were frequently managed or dispatched by individual hospitals, though in some areas, telegraph and telephone services enabled police departments to handle dispatch duties.

The equipment carried by ambulances was changing fast at this time. Traction splints were introduced during World War I, and were found to have a positive effect on the morbidity and mortality of patients with leg fractures. Two-way radios became available shortly after World War I, providing more efficient radio dispatch of ambulances. Shortly before World War II, then, a modern ambulance carried advanced medical equipment, was staffed by a physician, and was dispatched by radio.

In the ten or so minutes it had taken Ravi to crest the incline and enter the highway, Mekalai had finished telling him what had happened and hearing her tell how Gayatri had gone into the water without any hesitation only put more impetus on him to see that she was safe and his foot pressed hard on the accelerator and they reached the Toll Plaza.

The Highway patrol police who were parked behind the Ambulance were the first ones to catch sight of the tractor that was speeding towards them.

Veerapandiyan, Head constable, Grade 1, Tamilnadu Police and the ranking officer of the patrol car was sipping horrible kiosk made tea along with Saravanan, constable and the driver of the patrol car when he lowered his cup with a grimace on his face and cursed horribly, ' Ok..li, is this tea or just watery milk flooded with sugar. My nearly blind grandmom makes better tea than this sweet crap' and then hearing the loud protest of the tractor's engine that was being pushed to its limits, looked up and saw Ravi behind the wheel.

' Saravana, Master sir is coming and from the looks of it, something appears to be wrong. I have never seen master sir drive the tractor at such speed and that too with so many children in the trolley behind him.

Ravi stood on the brakes and the tractor squealed and howled its protest but submitted to its owner will and skidded to a halt, a few feet from the parked police patrol car.

Veerapandiyan rushed to Ravi's side, ' Iyaa, any problem.'

Ravi vaguely recognized him and nodded with unshed tears glittering in his eyes and said with a choked voice, ' Tell the ambulance staff to get ready to administer emergency oxygen to a patient who nearly drowned' and running to the rear leapt into the trolley and scooping Gayatri into his arms, jumped down and ran towards the open doors of the ambulance.

Gayatri was gently lifted and transported into the cool confines of the air-conditioned ambulance and was then placed on a stretcher. Ravi watched nervously and in fear as a female nurse quickly opened each of Gayatri's eyes and observed them under the light of a torch. After wiping Gayatri's face using wet tissue, the nurse placed a non-breather mask around her face and looked at Ravi, ' sir, which hospital?'

' Apollo Hospitals, Please' and then quickly said, ' Just one moment' and ran towards the two policemen to say something.

Head constable Veerapandiyan smiled and said, ' Master sir, don't worry about the kids for I am going to personally drive the tractor back to the village and safely deposit them there. Please carry on and I will see you at the hospital after I am done in Kumarapalayam.'

Ravi shook his hand and thanked him and then once again ran to the trolley attached to the tractor and helped the Thillai down and asked him to come along with him to the hospital to get treated for his injuries that he had sustained when the wall separating the lake from the pool had collapsed suddenly.

Thillai scoffed and said, ' Master sir, just a few scrapes that will heal in a few days time. I will be okay and new in no time. You, please go ahead and take care of Ma'am.'

Ravi saw that he had something left in his heart and so asked him, ' Thillai, what is it?'

' Master sir, for all of us in and out of our Village, you are and will always be a hero. But, today we all saw another one in action and she was brave master sir. Really brave and if she had hesitated even for a second, then ....'

Ravi nodded and smiling gravely, said, ' But she did not, my child. She did not hesitate' and gently ruffled Thillai's hair, said, ' see that everyone reaches home safely. I will see you all late in the evening.'

The Ambulance lit up and with its siren screaming, ' Move, make way' headed towards Madurai.

The Oxygen flowed into her lungs and enriched her brain and all was well and Ravi laughed and cried at the same time as he saw Gayatri's eyes flicker open and he took her hand in his and gently kissed it.

He closed his eyes and whispered to his soul, ' What will you take from me now for this gift, favour that you have bestowed on me when you have already taken everything the first time around?'

Little did Ravi know that what is taken by life is given back at another time through another form.

At that very moment, Radha Krishnan and his mother Shinogai were talking about him, Raman was in Raw's secret base, situated deep in the belly of the army base in Guindy and where he had just christened their new task as " Operation Vijay ".

He looked at his watch and saw the time was nearly 5.00 pm and sighed sadly and worriedly wondered how he was going to cope with the meeting that was at 7.00 pm and just a couple of hours away.

Major Param seeing Raman's knitted eyebrows, placed a hand on his shoulder and said, ' Tiger, it is going to be all right. You have the nation's entire resources at your disposal if you happen to call on it. So, stop worrying about " Operation Vijay" for my heart tells me that we will eventually track these men who have kidnapped Brigadier Prakash Malhotra and who also may be the ones behind the attack on Brigadier Rajashekar.'

Raman shook his head, ' Major, my thoughts were somewhere else and about something more important and urgent.'

' Raman, what could be more important than our country?'

Raman tapped his chest, ' Friends and family, Major Param Singh. They always come first and will always be my first priority.'

Major Param seemingly stumped for a reply, smiled and replied, ' It goes without saying, Raman' and his eyes softened and with a voice full of concern, he asked, ' I am sorry Raman. Is there anything I can do to help you right now?

Raman smiled and said, ' Yes, you can' and whispered into Param's ear.

Major Param looked at him and Raman reacting to his look, said, ' Hey, only if it is possible.'

Param guffawed loudly, ' forget the fact that your request is possible and a simple one to accomplish. But, let us not forget that you are one of the top officers of Raw and well, you have everyone at your beck and call' and called someone on his mobile and then looked at Raman who raised his hand and Param nodded, ' Five minutes and I mean it.'

Preetha, Shaaji, Sukhi Ram, and Balbir Singh tried their best to control their urge but failing miserably, popped out their questions, one by one.

' Raman sir, are you okay? Is everything all right? Anything we can do to help?'

Major Param trusted Raman as much as he trusted his best friend Rudy aka Rudran his senior and yet he too was kind of curious as to what was weighing so heavily in his new partner's head and heart.

The question that he had hesitated to ask had been innocently asked by the young ones and now he too looked at Raman wondering if an answer would be forthcoming.

Raman had never been very good at lying and so from his childhood had instead adopted a tactic where he would tell the truth but not all of it.

But this was his team who he was going to work with for the next few weeks at least and that meant total disclosure and with complete honesty. Then again...

He addressed all of them and began with tapping his watch, ' I am meeting a close friend at 7.00 pm. This is not just a friend but family too and he and his wife also happen to be the parents of two of my best friends.'

They heard his voice tremble and choke with emotion and all four of them but for Major Param knew who Raman was referring to for they had been there with him after he had just lost his best friend and had joined hands with V.k. Singh and Brigadier Sooryanarayanan and had single-handedly taken down the two dreaded assassin couple, Gulab and Jamun.

Preetha looked at Raman in wonder, ' Raman sir, I think most would consider it a privilege and a blessing to call you their friend.'

Shaji nodded, ' In a world where people forget to remember your names if they have not seen you for a couple of weeks, here you are still carrying the memory of your friend and nourishing it long after he has gone on.'

' Thank you Preetha, thank you Shaaji. I am still carrying Vijay's memory and will carry it to my grave' Raman said with a sad smile and he continued on.

' It really does not matter to me if a person is present in life or absent in life for once they enter my soul, they become a part of it and live on breathing with me and through me. I might appear as Raman, just Raman to you but I am more, much more than that for I am a collective soul. A collection of all the loving souls around me that I call friends and family.'

He stood up and looked at all of them, ' Vijay is a part that is missing and it hurts and will continue to hurt badly. One can forget, try to forget but how can one erase a memory completely.'

Param's mobile phone rang and he looked at Raman who acknowledging it with a slight nod of his head, ' Well, the cab is here and first it is home for a bath and a change of clothes and then... I am going to meet Vijay's father Durai Pandi sir at 7.00.'

He looked at his four juniors, Preetha, Shaaji, Sukhi ram and Balbir Singh, ' As far you fab four, it is my request that you stay back today and take turns in gathering as much information you can about this case. My heart tells me that we are going to catch a lucky break any moment and we should be ready for it.'

Turning to Major Param, ' arrange for some couches to be placed here so that two can sleep while the other two carry on working' and returning his attention to his four juniors, ' I will be coming back too even if it is late in the night. So, you won't be alone and will have both me and Param for company.'

Balbir Singh, the quiet giant raised a finger which immediately got his attention and Raman asked, ' Balbir.....?

' Raman sir, I am sorry but I have to ask this of you or else my head will explode unable to contain its curiosity.'

Raman looked at his watch and said, ' okay, ask.'

' Raman sir, this has to do with the conference call that you had with Mr Rudran earlier and you happened to ask him for directions as to how to handle a lioness and her cub that were hunting the same prey and if that was not cryptic and confusing enough then Mr Rudran's reply surely was when he replied a bond had been forged between our families. What were you guys talking about and who were you talking about?'

Raman had been a good advocate when he had been practising law until a little time ago and so he knew that he had been pushed into a corner by the questions that Balbir Singh had posed although it felt more like a witness being cross-examined by an expert criminal lawyer.

He took the only option that felt right to him and which was the truth. A little bit of truth.

' Balbir Singh, is it okay if I answer this question at a later point for I don't have the complete details concerning the lioness and her cub and definitely have no clue as to what Mr Rudran was alluding to' and tapping his watch, ' and also we are out of time right now. so, please excuse me and we will pick this up soon. I promise.'

Doctor Peyo

Good morning. I wish you a beautiful day.

In Calais, France, a former dressage horse and his owner are bringing comfort to adults and children who are being treated for cancer, some in palliative care. Peyo, a chestnut stallion, appears to have an understanding of human suffering. In a stunning photo in The Guardian the beautiful horse, his mane and forelock braided, is seen lowering his neck so that patients can stroke his face. In other photos, children sit on his back outside treatment rooms. The horse stands quietly in hospital corridors as if he is, like his nickname given to him by the doctors on staff, “Doctor Peyo.” There are even reports that Peyo’s comforting presence is so calming and reassuring that those suffering pain need less medication.

According to Peyo’s owner, Hassen Bouchakour, the stallion was always searching for human contact after competing. He tells The Guardian, “After shows, he would pick out people in the crowd, approach them and choose to stay next to them.” He continues to explain how he suspected that his horse was able to select people in the crowd who were “weakened morally, physically or psychologically.”

At the hospital Peyo tells his trainer which room he wants to enter next by stopping or raising his leg. Peyo is 15 and seems able to detect when humans have cancers and tumours. He stayed nearly two hours here, watching over a dying woman. ‘I accompany him but I let him do what he wants, he’s the one who decides,’ says Bouchakour. ‘What really pushed scientists to take an interest in him and open the health establishment doors to us, was this [seeming] ability to greatly reduce [the patients’ dosage of] all hard drugs and thus allow a more peaceful departure,’ he says

Peyo licks the hands of 64-year-old Roger who has just returned for the day to the palliative care unit for a blood transfusion. Roger is happy to see his ‘favourite doctor’ again. ‘Tonight he’s going to sleep well [because] he saw Peyo. As soon as he sees him he sleeps like a baby,’ says his wife

In the parking garage at Calais Hospital, Peyo and Bouchakour accompany Roger to the ambulance that will take him home after his treatment. Specialists are still trying to find out more about Peyo’s apparently instinctive ability to comfort those who are sick.

Avan, Aval, Adhu 53

Ravi knew that it would take a minimum of twenty to thirty minutes to reach Apollo Hospitals, notwithstanding, the ambulance siren screaming out for other vehicles to get out of its way for the traffic was bad and the people behind the wheels and bars were the main reason for it.

He always wondered as to what made his countrymen drive so rashly on roads, always ready to break nearly every rule in the book and that too blatantly and without any fear of the law. But, things were changing for the traffic police were gearing up to handle errant drivers with new software that was being mated to the existing surveillance camera network and would click, read the registration of the errant vehicle and send a traffic violation challan to the vehicle owner's mobile number and that too in a matter of minutes. The same information was sent to traffic cops manning the main junctions and who would then be alerted and be on the lookout for the rule-breakers and when catching sight of them would book them immediately.

Ravi used this time to call Antony who he knew very well and had been friends with for nearly 15 years now. Antonysamy Samuel was the General Manager & Unit Head of Apollo Hospitals Madurai and a very kind and soft-spoken gentleman and who over the years along with Ravi had managed to educate most of the people in and around the village of Kumarapalayam about preventive medicine and healthcare and more importantly about health insurance coverage.

Until about 15 years ago, none of the people in Kumarapalayam had health insurance and rarely even renewed their vehicle insurance and it was only after Ravi's return that things had changed. He had conducted many public meetings in which he had interacted with people and had taught them how important it was that each and everyone was covered by health insurance.

' You meet with an accident and you break your legs or worse suffer serious injuries. The vehicle that you were in can be repaired or you can even purchase a new one. But, can you purchase another life after death or worse, can you purchase new limbs and return to normal life. What about all the money that you will be spending in the hospital? All of you have money to insure your vehicles but not enough to insure yourself? Does it make any sense to you?'

Ravi Kumar had gone around every weekend for many a year visiting all the villages nearby and had drilled in his thoughts and messages. The change had come albeit slowly but it had come eventually and with it came a huge change in the quality of life and that brought peace of mind to all those who lived in Kumarapalayam and around it.

Antony's full name was Antonysamy Samuel and he answered after a few rings. ' Ravi sir, hello. How are you ?'

' I am fine Antony. Are you in the hospital right now?

' No, Ravi sir. I am in Chennai at the moment to meet our Big Boss, Dr Prathap C Reddy along with other Apollo hospital MD's.'

Realizing that something was wrong, Antony enquired with care and panic, ' Ravi sir, what is it? How can I help you?'

Ravi quickly explained the situation and that he was bringing Gayatri in an ambulance to the hospital and Antony replied immediately, ' Cardiopulmonary department. Done. Don't worry, Ravi sir, I will take care of everything and my people will be there waiting for you.'

' Thank you, Antony. I owe you one.'

' Ravi sir, please. If you start about what we owe each other then you will lose for we the people of Madurai and Kumarapalayam owe you a lot and it is a never-ending list.'

' Antony, just one thing. Everything must be billed in my name.'

' Okay. I will call my hospital and inform them about your arrival. Don't worry Ravi sir, your friend is going to be all right. After all, she has you watching over her.'

Raman's cab was not any cab but a bullet proof Skoda and a dozen armed commandos in two maruti Gypsy's, one in front of him and one following him in the rear.

Raman looked at the commandos standing ready for his departure, ' Is all this really necessary?' who said, ' It is I am afraid for your safety is paramount and this comes from Rudran himself.'

Placing a friendly arm around Raman's shoulders, Param whispered, ' You are equal to a million of us, Raman. This nation needs you safe and sound and on the move. The last thing we need is for you or your family to be put in any sort of danger.'

His eyes went serious as he said, ' Security arrangements have already been made for your house and six commandos are already there to protect your family along with the four personnel provided by your mentor, former DGP Devarajan.'

' F..k, it feels like the whole damn drama is starting all over again' Raman cursed and kicked the ground, recollecting what all he and his family had had to go through when Gulab and Jamun were running amok in Chennai a few months ago.

' You triumphed then and you will triumph again and again. Your name is Raman and according to the story, the man was never beaten.'

' Param, that was a God, a myth, a legend, an avatar and I am just an ordinary man made up flesh and blood. All it will take is a bullet in my head and I will be gone.'

' Maybe but that day is not today and not in the near future, my friend, my warrior' and stepping closer to Raman, ' Rudy was right and I see it now.'

Raman looked at him quizzically and Param smiled with a twinkle in his eyes and said, ' Rudran is one of the most, no the scariest man you will ever meet. The things he can do and the feats he has achieved are only possible in dreams and yet he himself told me that you are a better man than him and in every possible way.'

Raman was lost for a reply and thanking Param in a soft voice, got into the Skoda and was escorted away.

It took nearly 30 minutes for him to reach his house in Adyar and all that time was spent in thought about Rudran the head of Chakravyuh and his son Nikhil and what had taken place between him and Jeeva when she had suddenly suffered some serious complications while in labour.

Then this tiny kid had come out of nowhere and had entered the room and had done something and had disappeared. But, he had left a message to Jeeva and they were words that he would never forget as long as there was life and breath in him.

' Maybe, Rudran, Nikhil, Radha Krishnan, Kavita, Jeeva, Vijay and Suja are all connected to each other by some strange bond, alien bonds even' Raman thought to himself and stared out of the window lost, totally lost and clueless as to what was going on with all of them.

' I should talk to Rudran about these matters when I see him next for it was not prudent to have done that while he was on a video conference call from the middle east and that too with all the others in the room along with Major Param. But for now. I will concentrate on this case and the missing Brigadier Prakash Malhotra for the ramifications of his job is just horrible to even think of. WTF is wrong with all these government and their armed forces and why do they need Biological weapons when they are all armed with deadly nuclear weapons. Maybe, one day the world and all life will come to an end because of some mad power-drunk ba..ard who will press some button somewhere in hiding and which might just trigger a global nuclear war.

To recollect what transpired between Nikhil and Jeeva, please click on these links and they will take you to chapters 184, 191, 192 and they will help you to remember everything.

Avan, Aval, Adhu 54

The nurse who had administered the oxygen mask and who had checked Gayatris's vitals told Ravi that she was going to be okay and there was nothing to worry about.

Ravi who was holding Gayatri's hand in his smiled and said, ' Thank you.'

' Is she your wife?'

An unexpected question came out of the blue and Ravi's head jerked up and he looked up at the nurse and shook his head.

The nurse should have stopped with that but then all of us have bad days and well, she pressed on with her assumptions, ' so not wife, appo girl frienda.'

Maybe she was meant to say it for Gayatri's eyes that had flickered open now crinkled in joy as her senses bloomed and her ears caught the words of the nurse and she responded by gripping Ravi's hands firmly.

He looked at her and she looked back and they looked at each other and continued to look at each other until they reached Apollo hospitals and the Ambulance sped into the compound.

The doors were opened and Ravi and the nurse looked out in total surprise for it seemed the entire hospital staff were assembled there waiting for their arrival.

Two doctors who looked like they were the heads of their departments stood the same way with surprised looks on their faces and looked into the ambulance and caught sight of a man in a shirt stained with vomit and yet even in that situation appeared to be wearing an aura of dignity around him.

Dr Nirmala head of the cardiopulmonary department exchanged glances with another female doctor and then tentatively asked, ' Ravi sir?'

Ravi nodded, ' Yes ma'am. That's me and this is the lady who nearly drowned.'

Things happened in a blur and they happened quickly.

Ravi Kumar was asked to wait outside and after nearly ten minutes, Dr Nirmala and Dr Kamala Laxman came out with smiles and informed him that Gayatri was doing fine and that she was being kept under observation and would be discharged the next day.

Dr Nirmala introduced Dr Kamala as the head of the neurology department who informed Ravi that Gayatri showed no effects of suffering any sort of hypoxia damage and that she was alert and responding normally.

Ravi gently enquired with them if Gaytri's lungs were all right and if they were going to be any long term effects.

' Ma'am, the reason why I am asking is that I read somewhere that near-drowning victims sometimes come down with Pneumonia and other types of lung infections.'

Dr Nirmala assured him that Gayatri was going to be all right and then hearing footsteps they all turned to see a man running towards them and coming to a stop, he asked both the doctors how the patient was doing and then he introduced himself as the second in command to Antonysamy Samuel and that his name was Selva Ganesan.

Both the doctors informed him that the patient was out of danger and that she was doing fine.

Ravi totally overwhelmed by all this thanked the doctors and turning to the Deputy General manager, ' Mr Selva Ganesan, Thank you so much for all of this. Please convey my wishes and gratitude to Mr Antony for taking such good care of the patient.'

Selva Ganesan appeared to be confused about something and looked at Ravi, ' Oh, I see but I am here right now on behalf of Mr Venkatesan our Madurai, Lok Sabha MP. He apparently tried calling Mr Antonysamy and was not able to do that got in touch with me and requested me to take good care of you. Apparently, he got the news from the cops who helped you out.'

Ravi bowed his head slightly in a manner of deference and thanking all of them went into the room Gayatri was in, leaving behind the doctors and their administrative head to exchange glances and looks of surprise.

Dr Nirmala looked at Selva Ganesan and asked, ' who is he? Is he somebody very powerful and well known around here for I have never heard of him before? Yet, the boss calls me and tells me to take care of him personally and our MP himself calls you and makes a personal request.'

' Excuse me ' a voice spoke and all three of them turned and saw a thin young man standing there with a small bag in his hands and he looked at all of them and said, ' That is our master sir. No, he is not rich or powerful and neither does he have political connections and yet all of them look up to him as their master sir.'

Dr Nirmala asked him what his name was and the young man replied, ' My name is Ganesan but most of my people and friends call me Brahma Ganesan.'

Dr Kamala taking an instant liking to the young man asked him, ' Ganesan, what do you do?'

' I make a living driving an autorickshaw, ma'am.'

' Oh, I see. Tell me, Ganesan, how is it that you speak such good English and I hate to admit it but your accent and diction appear to be far superior to most of us here. You sound like you have received education and yet you are making a living driving an auto.'

Brahma Ganesan nodded, ' ma'am, forget me for most of my villagers speak even better English than me and also are good in other languages.'

Dr Kamala Laxman smiled, ' You mean Hindi, Telugu etc...'

' madame, Vous avez tort. je te souhaite une bonne journee' ( ma'am, you are mistaken. I wish all of you a good day) and with a smile that was more of a smirk, Ganesan went into the room that Gayatri was in.

Dr Nirmala tried mouthing and repeating what Ganesan had spoken and gave it up and looked at Dr Kamala, ' I am not sure but that sounded like french.'

Dr Kamala nodded, ' yes, fancy that, hearing french being spoken in Madurai and that too by an auto driver.'

All three of them looked at the door and thought to themselves, ' why do they call him master sir?'

Raman got out of the car that the army had provided for him and politely nodded to all the commandos that had been provided as his security detail and politely thanked them for their services. Turning towards his house, he was surprised to see his father Shaktivel and mother Valliammai coming out of the gate and onto the road.

Wondering if something was wrong, he hurried to his parents and asked them if they were all safe and if everything was okay.

Shaktivel looked at his wife with a surprised look and replied that they were all safe and well.

' Iyaa, why do you ask such a question when you know that we are well protected and now with an additional team of commandos added to the security layer, there is nothing for us to fear or worry about, but you?'

Raman ignoring his dad's words, ' appa, then what are you both doing out here on the road and unnecessarily exposing yourselves to danger. Please, let us go in.'

Valliammai looked at her son with loving eyes, ' Ram, please forgive your old parents for they keep forgetting that their only son is all grown up now and that he can look after himself and also has others to look after him.'

Shaktivel looked at his son, ' Iyaa, Raman, your mother speaks the truth, son. As far as we are concerned, you will remain the little boy who always came home a bit late and had us worrying until you were all grown up. Like those days, when we stood waiting near the gate for your safe return, we were standing here waiting for you to come back and also because we all realize that you are working on something serious, deadly serious and important' and pointing to the dozens of commandos who stood there all dressed in black, ' those soldiers usually are standing near the Prime minister or president or some VVIP'S and if they are standing here guarding you and us, then it means only one thing.'

' Appa, you are right. But let us go inside and we can carry on this conversation there in the safety of the house.'

They went inside and walked right into Kamakshi and Manigandan in his wheelchair and Raman looked at all of them and lifted both his hands in both a question and a sign of answer, ' Hey guys, all of you are here, then who is with Jeeva and the kids?'

Now it was their turn to be surprised and all four parents looked at Raman and then hurriedly looked away and Raman was forced to ask, ' okay people, please no games, not when it comes to my wife and children.'

A loud whistle sound pierced his ears and his soul and Raman recognizing it ran towards his bedroom whose door was open and stopped at the entrance with a huge smile spreading on his face.

On their bed, lay the most beautiful sight that his eyes had ever caught sight of and it was made up of his wife and his twin babies.

' But.. but, Jeeva, I thought you will be in the hospital for a few more days?'

Jeeva opened her arms and Raman went into them and they both hugged each other tightly and as if they were seeing each other and hugging each other for the very first time.

She kissed him in his mouth and then she kissed him softly all over his face and whispered, ' I am so happy to see you.'

' But, Jeeva' and his questioning mouth was once again smothered by her mouth and they kissed for a long time and stayed locked to each other with their mouths and with their arms.

She slowly leant back and laying her head on the pillow looking at him, ' Baby, only those mothers who have had a c-section delivery need to stay back in the hospital for a few days. But, mine was a vaginal delivery and that too an easy one and without any complications. So the doctor told me it was fine to go home and so here we are, back home.'

Seeing that he was still worried, ' Ram, trust me when I tell you that the three of us are perfectly okay and in fact, your babies are drinking more milk and seem to be more active here in our house. Maybe, like me they smell you, feel your presence and feel comforted by them.'

Raman smiled happily and softly pecked her lips and then froze as something hot drenched his lower back and turning quickly saw that his son Vijay was chuckling happily spouting a jet of urine.

He looked at Jeeva, ' you think he is doing it on purpose' and no sooner he had said that Suja now joined her brother and did her best to dampen her dad.

' What am I, a urine sample?' Raman angrily asked both of them and then rained kissed on both of them which made the twins squeal like kittens and puppies.

Jeeva watched him play with their babies and then she caught his thoughts and read them clearly and her eyes opened wide in fear and Raman felt the change in her mood instantly and looked up at her.
