Our film industries have a long history which all starts with the
Silent Films 🤓
and eventually the
TALKIES
coming in during the 1930's

In fact, we're running towards the century mark of
the South Indian Film Industry 😎

Now as much as I would love to brag about how awesome we are 😆
I'm not going to this time 😛
Instead,
I want to talk about the standards
that have been set by
THE FILM PERSONALITIES
and
THE PEOPLE 😳

A movie has much more to it than the what we see on screen
There are actors, directors, assistant directors, music directors,
lyricists, camera people,
and a huge group that makes up for the technical aspects
and much more to this list
Over the decades, there have been changes in what the

industry gives

and what the

audience takes
Basically,
with each growing period
there has been an increase in the

quality of films
Which is obviously a good thing
because that's how we have reached where we are
right now
So my question is,
What do you think the standard of a movie is these days
and most important
what are your expectations

Hi da - ithula discuss panna niraya iruku ..
I watch mostly tamil movies - so i can speak only about that ...

Speaking abt the standard of movie as such these days - i do see soem kind of a balance between realistic movies & masala movies chured out every yaer..
Though it is sad that masala movies standard has gone verrry low - still there is a hope with movies made by bala ,ameer n others...

I should not be saying standard gone mow per se - but that there has been not much growth.Masala movies should also make people think a little - It should not take viewers for granted

In other aspects of film making - like cinematography ,music ,BGMs the standards are pretty good.👏👏

Expectations are subjective ..Depending on the director, actor etc..
This is the reason for my disappointment with Avan Ivan & Seventh sense 😃

Very nice topic. Really needs a good answer..
On an average the quality of Indian cinema has deteriorated these days(this is my POV and is not a specific charge)
The most important aspect called strong and slick storyline with riveting emotions seemed to taken a back seat giving way for kuthu song, fights , romantic songs, double edged comedy and dances..
Sadly this kind of masala movies seems to be in fashion and is the norm among many across all ages..
Once in a while good movies too make their presence felt but in multiplexes and seen only by a less percentage of population..
The movies seem to reflect the taste of the audiances these days or is it the movies which make the audiances wanting for such..cant really distinguish..
Somehow over the decades movies have undergone dramatic transformation.. ultimately its up to the audiance to watch what they want and leave out what they dont..
maybe in the years to come movies of today maybe relished and be spoken higly off..
My expectations..Nothing. I see those movies that appeal to my senses. Cant do anything practical in this million ruppes industry..
One man's meat is another's poison. So its our discrimination to see what we want. As an individual we cant fight such Golliathic battles..

What do you think the standard of a movie is these days
well, nowadays there seems to be a lot more "good" movies these days. however despite how good they are, they really don't seem to make a huge business - their overall fare in the box office is on average lower than that of a normal masala movie - if the star is big and if the script is racy enough, the film will fare well in the BO no matter how cliched and repetitive the story is...
what are your expectations
expectations - nothing...when i see a film i go with no expectations at all...that way i know i won't be dissapointed as much if the film is terrible...🤣

Good post Vidya 👍🏼 👏
What do you think the standard of a movie is these days
There are good and bad movies. If the audience encourage good movies then I think the industry would change according to the preference of the audience.. After all the audience is the one who makes or breaks their living.

what are your expectations
A good story movie that is different and engaging. Different in that sense that I am actually bored of seing movies where the Heros are praised up to the sky..they do all this mindbl0wing action, rescues the heroines etc etc I have seen that enough now it just make me irritated 😆 Once in a while it's good but most of the masala movies go through the same track which gets quite boring
More movies like Engeyum Eppotum, Traffic, Cocoktail, Notebook, Bomarrillu etc should come. Some thing that has some depth and meaning. Also good comedies and songs for enteriantment.

Also Heroines should have a role that requires them to actually ACT. Movies in general use Heroines only for two purposes...one to dance in songs and other is to shed clothes and look like a barbie. I expect this attitude to change.
